Jul 11, 2012I run a gt200, and windows 7 32 bit pro. One morning, about a week ago, I turned on my computer and I thought it was in low graphics mode. Reseated the GPU and nothing changed. Then I noticed Aero themes was still working and found out my resolution was changed to 1024x768. 1440x900 is the native resolution for my monitor, and when I tried to change it back it wasn't an option under screen resolutions in the control panel. 1440x900 also isn't an option in any of the games that I have tried. First thing I did was restore a windows backup from a few days ago and that didn't do anything, then I tried forcing 1440x900 with the Nvidia control panel and that made it look even worse. Then I tried rolling back my GPU update and rebooting, which didn't do anything either. Right now I run 1280x960, which is alright unless I'm playing a game, then it looks messed up and bother me.

Aug 9, 2011After setting up a new install of Windows 7 Professional 64bit on a Samsung laptop (previously had home premium installed). I am having these issues that I am not sure of how to resolve:
1) when clicking on the start button the programs screen pops open but NO recent programs or pinned programs show up in the list without going to ALL Programs.
2) Laptop monitor and 20" LCD Desktop monitor both are running and the neither one will go above 1366 x 768 resolution setting. I have reinstall the latest Nvidia Gforce drivers with no change.

Problem: I'm unable to set the native resolution of my monitor to 1440x900. The monitor tries to auto adjust to that resolution, but it always gets set to a non-standard widescreen resolution, which results in poor blurry image.
In the display settings it doesn't list 1440x900 as an option, not even if I go into advance and tell it to list all unsupported.
I've tried numerious Nvidia driver updates and downloading the latest w1907 monitor driver and I'm still not able to set it to the native resolution.
Before going to Windows 7, I even did a factory restore from the recovery drive to stock factory Vista and it still did the same thing even straight from the factory reset.
Is the monitor defective? I hooked another 27 inch monitor up to it and it works fine and shows 1440x900 in the list, but it's almost like the EDID is messed up on the 1907.
I'm concerned by the fact that it was messed up like this even right after the Factory restore.
System Crashes At 1440x900
Jul 1, 2010i m having this weird problem where, the moment i set my screen resolution to 1440*900 (or anything close to 8:5 ratio), my system crashes, the screen goes blank except 4 a thin white line in the corner and remains this way no matter how many times i reboot. my only option then is to start in safe mode and restore the system to an earlier restore point.

The resolution of screen is fine but it is not supporting 1280 x 1024 resolution and videos are not playing properly. It was not taking audio drivers as well but when I ran the SoundMax drivers for XP in compatibility mode they were installed. But display drivers are not getting installed. I even tried the various driver from Nvidia for XP/Vista/Win 7, but none of them works.

Aug 18, 2009I know they removed the "classic startmenu" but the only thing I miss is the "All Programs" list. I hate having to click, then scroll, then click again. With all the new UI improvements you would think they would of realized to just open the folder on hover or allow a blow out list.
I do have it set to open on hover, but it doesnt work for the inside area. So far it's my only complaint about 7, the little hovers for multiple windows is awesome.
No All Programs List
Jun 29, 2009When i click the start button and move my mouse to all programs it changes but there are no list of them, it is all white. When i right click the all programs and choose open i can see that all programs are there and they all work fine.
I didn't had this problem from start, it happened recently.
Of reg cleaners i only use CCleaner and it didn't make any problems for sure.
Is this a known problem and how can i fix this?
MRU List Missing From Run?
Nov 30, 2011I recently ran Power Tools Lite and afterwards noticed that all commands that were listed in Run are gone. I don't think they can be recovred but I would like to make new entries hold and be available for furture use. Needless to say Power Tools Lite is gone from my computer.

Program Does Not Get Added To List
May 15, 2012I noticed this a few days after having to restore my drive from a True Image backup.Running Win 7 Professional.I currently have 5 "recent" programs listed in my Start Menu (not pinned). I have Properties set to show 15 recent programs. When I run a program from the Start Menu (not the "recent programs," but the full list) or from Explorer (navigate to program and double-click the exe file), the program does not get added to the list. The only recently run programs being added are ones I run from Desktop shortcuts. I know this is not normal behavior; my laptop, also running Win 7 Professional, adds recent programs regardless of how they're launched.

Google results come back with pages that seem to mention such a mythical list but all that I can find is MS documentation that mentions what KVM makers need to do to be compatible with Windows 7.
I am looking for a KVM switch that can switch a VGA connected monitor and a USB mouse and keyboard between an always connected desktop running 64 bit Win 7 Home Premium and an occasional laptop running Win 7 Professional. I would like to be able to walk into a local CDW or Fry's store knowing if a given KVM on the shelf will work. I would not want to depend on just looking at units with a Win 7 compatibility sticker on the box as I might miss a less expensive older unit that may work perfectly.

Feb 1, 2011I manually removed all programs from the FPL and have run a multitude of various programs yet nothing shows up. So now my list is all blank.to keep the various suggested solutions short, I know about setting the "Start Menu Size"; I've tried 5 to 20. No joy. I know about the checkbox in the Privacy area of the Start Menu tab; mine IS checked but still no joy. I know about "NoStartPage" setting in HKClassesRoot for various program types and to my knowledge.

With it I could open a menu along the right edge of the screen of all of the items on my desktop. I could open this menu over the existing window. It was NOT Aeropeek nor did it require the writing of any code, using the run box, downloading special apps or right clicking anywhere. It did not open the desktop as such; it opened a long menu of the titles of all the shortcuts on the desktop.I eliminated the capability about a month ago and now wish I had it back but I can't remember how I got it. It was not complicated as I would not have been able to do it.

It's as if he created a whole new profile, so now I can't run certain programs even though they appear on the Program list.Rather that wrestle with a fix, easier to reinstall the software.The problem is that a directory that was once visible to me previously that contained 5gb of files is no longer visible. This apparent new Identity (or whatever they did) doesn't recognize it.The files are there. If I go to Computer, right click, Everything and do a text search for files I know are there, I can see them.Is there some freeware available that will allow me to browse everything on the harddrive, no matter which Identity created it?
