Apr 17, 2011So I have Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit, and my files randomly play or pause, whether it's a song, or a movie or a TV show. Sometimes it goes for hours not giving me problems, but then at some point randomly pauses and continues, either at like half second intervals, few seconds, or even like 20 seconds after it pauses, it randomly plays again.
I play them off my hard drive and off my external, it's not my external that's the problem I don't think. I'm thinking maybe my wireless adapter is a problem? I don't know.
If I downloaded HijackThis and gave you guys or the guys there a log, would they be able to identify what's causing this, or would it just show as me clicking pause and play, because it does it by itself...
I don't have a virus, I didn't access the internet for more than a few days and I didn't go on any malicious sites, I have AV, but the wireless isn't even on and it's a new build, I know I don't have a virus.
Double Click Will Not Open 'Computer'?
Aug 18, 2012I use a seperate SDD on which I play DCS World Games .Win7 is also on that disk as part of a dual boot but here it only serves to operate the games and ancilliaries. I have found that when clicking on 'Computer' in the Start Menu or the icon on Desktop ; there is no response and I cannot gain access to computer on on that disk.I have run various malware, anti virus programs but all seems clear I have formatted and reinstalled Win7 and the games from DCS. At first all was well but the problem has returned . I should have mentioned that last week the problen extended to 'Task Manager' ans 'Waste Basket' ; neither would open to a double click.The fact that the problem has returned makes me believe that a virus is high on the list of suspects but I cannot locate it[CODE]

More often, it will turn the displays off, but won't ever put the computer to sleep.Why wouldn't the computer go to sleep?Wouldn't any activity turn the displays back on? And so if they don't come back on, why wouldn't it go to sleep?why wouldn't the displays turn off, and then it goes to sleep?

So I formatted the second to NTFS by using ubuntu live cd. Now my windows system can see the hard drive and I can open it with right mouse click--->open, and can write to it. When I try and double click the drive in My Computer it comes up with a pop up saying E: Application not found. Where I can set the double mouse click to open it?

Mar 5, 2011If if try to play a test tone from the control panel i get a message that says "failed to play test tone." However when i first turn on my laptop it plays the startup sound so i know it isn't a hardware issue. I opened my control panel>hardware and sound>sound>speakers>properties> enhancements>disable all enhancements. This didn't help anything at all I disabled a certain windows update that was said to cause this problem, security update KB974571. rebooted my computer, still no sound.I tried a system restore but my windows 7 is very recent and there's only 2 restore points and neither of them work.I tried uninstalling and reinstalling my drivers, no sound. There was also a registry edit solution that i can't seem to find the link to, but that didn't work either.

Feb 14, 2009This appears to be working but there is no sound. I get the message "failed to play test tone" when I click test in playback devices. Windows update automatically downloads updates for this and then tells me that it is working when it isn't. I have even tried to use generic drivers (like realteks) to see if that would work. I've tried compatibility mode with no luck as well.

+20 Minutes To Rip A CD On New Computer?
Mar 14, 2011Just received a new computer. The specs:
Dell 2305 All-in-One
Windows 7 64-bit
8 gb RAM
AMD Athlon� II X4 610E processor
Blu-ray combo drive (Optiarc DVDRWBD BC-5504H)
Everything works fine except the time it takes to rip my CD's. Using Windows Media Player or Media Center on my other computer, it takes about 2 minutes. On the new Dell, my computer temporarily freezes after ripping the first track, and then will take at least 20 minutes to complete.under the heading of IDE ATA/ATAPI Controllers, there are no channels listed. So I can't enable DMA. The only thing listed is "AMD Sata Controller". Is this a problem with the AMD controller drivers? I've installed the latest from the Dell site. Should I uninstall the AMD controller driver and try to install the Windows 7 drivers instead?

Jul 4, 2010I have had some problems recently with my PC, and the latest is that my sound doesn't work. I have Realtek HD Audio. I can still see my speakers under the Sound list in Control Panel, and they say they work. All of my drivers are up to date and say they work. I have tried many things, some of which where disabling all sound effects under enhancements, reinstalling all the drivers, and restarting the Windows Audio.

Jul 26, 2012I have a dell inspiron N4010 windows 7 operating system and for some reason, after two minutes of me logging on to my computer the screen suddenly dims, the mouse disappears, and the entire computer freezes. No matter how many times i restart my computer the same thing happens. I don't have this problem though when i'm in safe mode. but when i'm in safe mode, i don't have access to my virus detection software, so i can't scan for a virus either in normal or safe mode.

Jun 21, 2012Since yesterday my computer freezes only after some minutes of booting. Never had an issue of this kind before, my PC was always performing well without any problems at all.
The computer is freezing when im watching videos with VLC and i cant even restart it with ctrl + alt + del because it doesnt respond, so i must restart it manualy pressing the reset button.
Some weeks ago i bought a new PSU (coolermaster silent Pro M 500w) but i think its not related to that because untill yesterday all was fine.

Feb 22, 2011My laptop was fine yesterday.All I did was take it home from college.I have Avast! anti virus, Lavasoft ad-aware and malwarebytes..so the chance of a virus infecting my system is low.Computer loads fine, gets to the login screen.I login.Computer sticks on the Loading screen.once it finally loads it just shows the taskbar and a black background.It does not seem to respond any more than that unless I press ctrl + alt + del which then allows me to use the computer as normal, however, as I say it takes about 20 - 30 minutes to get to there.my other account (the one I am using just now.) is not much better.It doesn't take 20 - 30 minutes ( about 1 - 2 minutes) and it loads fine without the black background problem.

Feb 1, 2012I recently installed a WD 15k Raptor hard drive and my computer now takes about 7 minutes to boot up, it gets stuck at the starting screen, where no hard drive action will happen, then 7-8 minutes later there will be loads of activity then will start up, ive tried narrowing it down, by removing the old hard drive (because im using the other old hard drive that had the OS on for media) and just running the new one, but no luck, I also tried reinstalling Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit on my old hard drive, which had no problems before, but the same effect, takes 7-8 minutes to boot. Ive even tried removing any new hardware I installed before it, but still the same problem, Ive asked a lot of people and Ive had various solutions, but no effect, I think its to do with the power supply, or the SATA cable and power addapter I purchased for the new hard drive. Jul 1, 2012I have a fairly new computer (14 months) that never gave me any problems until recently. My computer will 100% freeze after roughly 10 mins of use (doesnt matter what i do in the 10 mins). I'm running windows 7 home 32 bit, i5 quad core (cant rmb alot of details, will dig up more soon), asus p8p67 mobo, wd 1tb green and 4gb ram.
The only way to "unfreeze" my computer is to restart it, if i leave it as it is without restarting I'll get a BSOD that says "KERNEL INPAGE DATA ERROR"

Mar 31, 2012So my screen freezes and cant move my mouse at that time. it came after i installed my amd bulldozer fx 6100 into my recent build (Msi 890fxa gd 65 board, gskill ripjaws f3-10666CL9D-9GBRL , msi radeon 6870 twinfrozr 3 and some sata 2 WD harddrive. It sometimes happend on my old build where was an amd phenom II x2 565 3.4ghz processor... Now its happening nearly every 15mins or so. After i defrag my 2year old harddrive it comes after 30-60minutes..I think its about the processor not being compatible to the memory and motherboard(OR the harddrive being 2years old and sata 2 and nomore in the markets, makes crappy noises even .Because the memory box says "Designed for Intel LGA 1156 platforms / Compatible whit Intel LGA 1155 sandy bridge and amd am3 CPUS.And their website says that the 890fxa gd65 board does not support that memory,but still detects and works in my build. My chipset in the motherboard is AMD am3 and supports am3+.

At first, it was running smooth, after about 5-10 minutes the computer shut down. Since my laptop overheats quite easily, I checked the temperature of the CPU, but it wasn't hot at all. Then I tried a newer version (build 7032), same thing happens for every game.
Does anyone know the reason for this? Is there a possible fix?

Sep 22, 2012I've got a pretty regular and predictable usage pattern with my computer - quick logon in the morning to check emails, go to work, use computer at night, restart before bed.The computer is set to sleep after three hours of inactivity. So in the morning it will be sleeping, then when I get home from work same thing. Sometimes not; never figured what wakes the computer, but 90% of the time, that's how that works - it sleeps after three hours, and stays sleeping for several hours.However, this week I noticed that the computer seemingly never sleeps. It's always on when I come by it, including in the morning, and when I get home from work.Checked the system log in the event viewer for events 1 (wakeup) and 42(sleep), and I noticed that, into the morning of 9/16, the normal pattern of several hours of sleep was adhered to. Since 9/16 though, every sleep period lasts about 2 1/2 minutes. That is, it goes to sleep (event 42), and then within 2-3 minutes, it will wake up (event 1).There have been no Windows updates in that time that would affect this. Definition updates for Windows Defender on 9/18 and 9/21, and KB2744842 (security update for IE 9 on x64 systems) on 9/22, but nothing happened, including no new software installations, on 9/15 or 9/16.So why is my computer suddenly waking from sleep almost immediately?

Computer Freezing/Hanging A Few Minutes After Boot-up?
Nov 20, 2012So for the past day I have been having a problem with my PC. I booted it up and within two minutes the whole thing froze, I couldn't Ctrl-Alt-Del or anything, so i figured something just went kaboom and decided to restart. Same thing happened.. so I decided to boot into Safe mode. The safe mode boot worked fine and I've prob alley booted into Safe Mode at least 20 times the past day and it only froze once.I don't know if this is a driver issue or a hardware issue or what, but It's really frustrating. I have run MSE and it can't find any viruses. Also, when I try to play music/or open a file,my computer hangs and it takes like 20 seconds of the little circle loading mouse icon for anything to happen, and sometimes this will also trigger the computer to downright freeze.
So far I have tried :Going into MSCONFIG and disabling startup/processes = Did not work System Restore : Delays the freezing for a little while but it comes back after a couple hours, the Hdd/sdd hanging is still present = did not work Ran a chkdsk = said it was fine Ran the WD HDD Diagnostic tool = said hdd was fine Did something called sfc /scannow (i think that's it) ... = said i was fine This is a custom built PC i made and I have had it for a month and a half, I also checked for loose cables but did not see any.
