I have a top notch computer. Quad core, 4gigs of memory, Nvidia 256mb video. All latest drivers. When I leave the Vista Aero glass on, my system lags. Takes 5 seconds for windows to switch or to show something.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have been having this complicating issue with my laptop. i have windows vista x64 bit home premium. i have determined that it is not my internet because games like counter strike source still lag very badly with my internet off (9 fps every minute). i have tried reducing the services and amount of processes running on my computer and it didn't help at all. do i just need to update vista? i recently have had this problem for a week or two and i cant figure it out.i have a Hp Pavilion Dv7, amd turion x2,ATI Radion HD 3200,4 GB of RAM.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI've got a strange situation. Anytime my cd drive is closed my computer lags to the point of no return. It won't load vista until I open the cd drive and while vista is running my computer will just about stop responding. All that moves is the mouse and I can click on things but they won't open until I reopen the cd drive.

Sorry if this is the wrong section but, sometimes when im just on the computer my computer will make a noise. I really dont know how to describe the noise but its like when the fan in your room is turned to like extra fast. Whenever the noise comes my computer just starts to lag.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI've got an Sony VGN-BX197XP laptop that I've upgraded to Windows Vista Ultimate. Since then I've encountered some strange display-related issues:
1) I could only boot into Aero about 50% of the time. The rest of the time I forced onto the Standard theme with no Aero option. Since installing Vista SP1 I can't get Aero at all.
2) When not running in Aero mode I can't get the Windows Media Player to play video files, nor get a Perfomance Index.
3) If I plug in an external monitor I can't get a picture on the laptop monitor but I *do* get a picture on the external monitor and it runs Aero 100% of the time. It will also play video files and give me a performance index.
I ran the patcher that came with this Vista theme SoulGlass by ~bubito on deviantART and now some windows have Aero and others have what looks like a messed up windows classic theme. I tried using vista glazz to patch it back. I tried restarting multiple times. I tried switching to classic theme and back. Nothing works. I have Vista Ultimate 64. Here's a screenshot.

Well, one of the first things he did to my laptop when I got it, was get rid Aero. At first I didn't mind, but now I want it back. And I mean its gone. When I go into "Window Color and Appearance" it doesn't even have the Aero option listed anymore.
I no longer have Aero theme enabled, and, I can't select it from the list. This has started after I had to format my drive and install Vista all over. Everything else with it seems just fine. Only this "Windows Vista Transparency" is not working. There is only one place I can think of to enable it at, and it is not there. Do I need to install some updates?
There should be another option there "Windows Vista Ultimate" I think, but I could be wrong.
But how do I enable transparency and all of the other effects of Aero?
Ive always use vista home premium, but after I used glary tools to defrag my regestry and then it said restart my comp annd i did, then whe i go to my pc, i see it has windows basic features, like on aero. So i went to personalinize and I SEE NO AERO feature!

View 8 Replies View RelatedI'm confused about the Aero Glass interface. Is the Aero Glass interface the same as the Aero color theme listed in display properties? If a person has Vista Home Premium and their computer's hardware supports it, does Vista default to Aero Glass or Aero Basic? The reason I ask is because when I first turned on my laptop, the windows were transparent and I could see the desktop through the borders when the windows were maximized. Was this Aero Glass? Does running Vista in Windows Classic Mode (where it looks like Win9x) save RAM and CPU cycles, or does it not make a difference as long as the hardware is strong enough to support Aero Glass?

View 6 Replies View RelatedI have Nvidia 8800Gt Up-to-date Drivers 1tb Hd Runnign Vista Ulti 32 and i just applied a crap load of patches last night and then Sp2 about a hour ago. And now Aero disappeared, Checked Services and all that jazz, everything is running. Already redid my score. Every time i try a Theme the uses Aero i get Windows Classic. Along with SP2 Windows Poweshell was installed, could that be messing it up? I dont have anything but updates recently installed. no incompatibility programs. I heard that sometimes when u apply Service patches ur Serial can mess up and might need re-activation? Cuz i remember before i bought a Ultimate Serial after the time limit i couldn't use Aero. I upgraded from Basic to Ulti. So yea, Checked the services, did the score, checked reg, checked processes, and tried most of things suggested on the forums.

View 6 Replies View RelatedThere are many themes for Windows XP Luna interface. Windows Vista, however, has only one version of Aero ( we can change the color and its intensity though). Is it possible to make other themes for Aero, like different system button styles or different border, different material, etc. Or, is it impossible to customize it by its architecture? I'm not going to make a custom theme, but am just curious about it. PS : Personally, I like Aero better than Mac OSX's look and feel, except for fonts and menus. I like OSX's larger fonts and translucent menu better.

1.. A window will appear, with a list of available themes in a drop-down menu, with corresponding illustrations below. The setting should be on "Vista Basic" as default.
2.. In the drop-down menu there is an option for "Windows Aero"
3.. Click it, then select Apply then OK and you're computer will be configured to Windows Vista Aero.
I like the Aero glass theme, and I often find myself moving aero windows in front of stuff just to see the blur effect, so I wonder I want just a big Aero window, with nothing in it like just a sheet of glass to move around on my desktop. how hard would that be to code? couldn't be too hard right? any coders want to write this for me? or anyone know of some source code that I could strip to make it just a blank window?
