View 3 RepliesI installed Vista Business 3 days ago, and I dont see how to send an e-mail with an attachment simply right clicking on the file / Send To /Mail Recipient, as I was used to do with Outlook Express.I don't really want to use Outlook 2003. Does Windows mail really have this limitation?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI kinda downloaded some themes for Vista and well... all the folders kinda mixed with the default one.
So, I'm looking for a list of the Official included themes in Vista.
I know that there are :
- Aero
- Classic Windows
I know there was at least 5 of them.
If possible can someone can ZIP and send me the themes in question (C:WindowsResourcesThemes) it would be less difficult to figure out what themes I need to restore from the Bin.
And, yes, my Vista is legit. (and in FRENCH)
I'm just starting to use Windows Mail - looking for a way to display the names in my contact list (previously address book) on the "home" page of Mail, under the folder list, as I used to see them in Outlook Express. It's much more cumbersome to have to open the contact list, find a name and then click on the email button. Is that the only way to open a new mail with a person's name in the To field?

I have put my email addresses from my old comp into my new Vista syst. and windows mail and they are stored as contacts list. They do not show up when I try to send an email from Windows Mail. I have to go to the list, copy it and place it in the send message myself. I have tried to import this list into the windows mail and it won't do it.

After spending a lot of time trying to find a solution, here is the way I have solve the problem. Now the sidebar is just working fine. This behavior is observed if the XML registration is missing in the system. To fix the problem, use the following steps:
* Close Windows Sidebar. To do so, right-click on the Sidebar icon in the Notification area and click Exit
* Open an elevated Command Prompt window. To do so, click Start, click All Programs, click Accessories, right-click Command Prompt, and then click Run as administrator.
* In the Command Prompt window, type the following and press ENTER:
I have a unused Audigy 2 ZS, and my mobo has Realtek ALC888 7.1 HD sound onboard...
Considering the following :
- I want to do Photostory3 and Windows Movie Maker stuff high quality
- I would still like to be able to play games like Ghost Recon, COD2 and Far Cry with surround sound.
- I want the best performance, and the least headaches...
Which one should I use, the Audigy 2 ZS (and alchemy for EAX support) or the onboard (will I still have non-EAX surround in older games, and will it use too much my CPU for video editing?)...

This is the spec I'm looking at.....It's advertised as coming with Vista 64bit home premium (but that can be changed if I wish!). My question to you all is- "Are there any problems with Vista 64bit OS?" Ohh whilst I'm here, ATM I use Comodo FW and Avast AV with Windows XP. Can I still use both or those on Vista 64bit? if not what do you suggest? In a nutshell- I have heard all the rumours that Vista has loads of problems and I'm a little worried about making the leap (Should I be?)

View 5 Replies View RelatedI've just installed another 2 Gig of RAM because Vista ultimate 64bit is quite hungry for memory. In the windows experience index I had a score of 5.6 out of 5.9, with the 2 gig of memory bringing it down to 5.6, the rest of the hardware scoring top at 5.9 I thought that by installing 4 gig in total my memory score would go up to 5.9 too, but can you believe it, it's dropped to 5.5!(BTW - exactly the same brand as the previous 2 sticks that were in there before Corsair XMS2 DDR2 TwinX matched PC6400)
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have read this stuff over and over and I have seen it change and I am still trying to figure it out. I have my hardware ready to put together my next "Home Grown PC". It will have a 64 bit dual core AMD card. A ATI Direct 10 compliant graphics card, 512mg and allow me to digitally connect to my 22" wide screen LG monitor. I have 4gbs of RAM (a pair of 2s). Oh yes, a loaded with functionality MSI motherboard that can handle a AMD quad processor if I want. So, I definitely, will want a 64 bit version of Vista. I have reseached and downloaded the 64 bit drivers needed. Some issues still there for my Canon Lide 50 scanner and syncing my Palm PDA. But, I will worry about it later.
I would love to get the Vista Ultimate, but to me, the cost is rather insane. Way to high for me, even though I work and am a student. I am looking at the Business 64 and the Home "Premium" 64. On the differences between them, it appears that the Home Premium version has a limitation of 16gb of RAM memory, while the Business edition has something like 128gb limitation. I have the full Nero Package, but there is backup and restore software with the Business Edition, not in the Home edition ?? The Business Edition does not come included with Windows Media Player and related technologies such as Windows Movie Maker, and a DVD creator as well as some "games". Aren't those games and the Windows multi-media products available for free download ?? Or possibly is it just telling the Business Edition to install them, like you would do now with XP. I am aware that every DVD is exactly the same, regardless of version, but it is the license that is entered that allows the installation to load and not load some features . I also am concerned about communication features that seem to be in Business that are not in Home ?? I know that the SP1 will be coming out shortly, so there might be some additional differences coming down...............

There are a lot of choices, but 99% of them have a disclaimer that they won't work with Vista 64 bit. I'm looking for something in the 320 to 500 GB range that I don't need a loan for! bought a Seagate FreeAgent and the package said "works with Vista". I went to their website for install instructions and found, in micro print, "no support for Vista 64, only Vista 32 bit". The statement on their packaging pretty much took care of their credibility and truthfulness!

View 9 Replies View RelatedI originally had Windows Vista Home Premium 64bit installed on my computer. I wasn't given a restore disk when I bought my computer from Best Buy, luckily my brother had an old copy of XP Pro 32bit laying around, or at least I felt lucky when he came up with it after using Linux for a week.
My question is will I be able to switch from XP Pro 32bit back to Vista 64bit? I know jack about compatibility, if it isn't obvious. I've tried switching back to Linux Ubuntu 64bit but all I was given was error messages.
I currently own a Sony VAIO running on VISTA Ultimate 32bit. This version was upgraded from Windows VISTA Home Premium through Windows-Upgrade-Anywhere. Because of various issues with VISTA and my Laptop I decided to upgrade to a faster machine with 4 Gig Ram. I now would like to upgrade me VISTA Ultimate 32bit to VISTA Ultimate 64bit to remove the 3 Gig RAM restrictions.
Unfortunately no one at Microsoft could really tell me how to do this. This is a all a big mess and trying to find information is really hard. The company I run has a icrosoft Action Pack subscription and I now even have 10 VISTA Business/Ultimate licenses... but again... all for 32bit. I really don??t understand why it needs to be so hard to simply swap a 32bit acquired license for a 62bit one. It??s an unnecessary restriction. From a Microsoft Hotline I learned that swapping 32bit/64bit is no issue if I bought a boxed version of VISTA Ultimate. The funny thing is that the same Hotline told me months ago that there is no difference between buying a "virtual license" through Upgrade-Anywhere and buying the boxed version.
New Vista Home Premium 64bit user here. On my WinXP Pro PC, when I do the Microsoft Updates, I see Express and Custom update options. I like the option to install critical Express updates and be able to choose Custom updates for software or hardware. On my Vista Laptop, I don't see the Express and Custom options any more. Does Microsoft Updates for Vista Home Premium 64bit just install all the updates regardless now? Is there a link to an explanation of the new Vista 64bit update philosophy?
