View 5 RepliesDoes anyone out there have any information on how to get rid of the spyware Trojan.Win32.Agent.azsy that we downloaded onto our Vista laptop? Most websites either force you to pay for a solution or tell you to remove files--files which don't exist in the first place.
View 9 Replies View RelatedNeed a good free anti spyware program that runs well with Vista Home Premium. I downloaded the bought version 8.0 and began having problems with the computer lagging, and generally slow all over, not thinking it was AVG, I checked every other possible issue that I thought may be causing it. Eventually it lead to AVG, as things had been good prior to installation. I completely removed AVG and everything returned to normal, great! But then I done a further download of the program again, and once again the problems began. Is there a good alternative Anti Spyware program that is recommended ?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI am using vista home premium with a 64-bit operating system. I have Avast free antivirus installed. I started getting messages from Vista Defender that my computer was being attacked by viruses, spyware and trojan horses. When I clicked "remove all" they wanted me to buy something. I restarted my computer and I am no longer getting the vista defender warnings, but I can't access several programs like windows media player, yahoo messenger etc.
Also, the icons for these programs disappeared from my task bar. When I try to launch these programs from the start menu I get a message that says "Windows cannot access the specified device, path or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item". I'm the only one that uses this computer.
How do I remove Windows Vista, so that I can make a clean install of Windows 7. Does the removal of Windows Vista also removes Windows Mail and IT8? Do I have anything (Antivirus or other software) at all left on the PC after removal of the Windows?

Considering the following :
- I want to do Photostory3 and Windows Movie Maker stuff high quality
- I would still like to be able to play games like Ghost Recon, COD2 and Far Cry with surround sound.
- I want the best performance, and the least headaches...
Which one should I use, the Audigy 2 ZS (and alchemy for EAX support) or the onboard (will I still have non-EAX surround in older games, and will it use too much my CPU for video editing?)...

View 4 Replies View RelatedI just found this site by chance and it looks like it's going to be handy! I'm looking to buy a new system within the next month or two! This is the spec I'm looking at.....It's advertised as coming with Vista 64bit home premium (but that can be changed if I wish!). My question to you all is- "Are there any problems with Vista 64bit OS?" Ohh whilst I'm here, ATM I use Comodo FW and Avast AV with Windows XP. Can I still use both or those on Vista 64bit? if not what do you suggest? In a nutshell- I have heard all the rumours that Vista has loads of problems and I'm a little worried about making the leap (Should I be?)

View 9 Replies View RelatedI've just installed another 2 Gig of RAM because Vista ultimate 64bit is quite hungry for memory. In the windows experience index I had a score of 5.6 out of 5.9, with the 2 gig of memory bringing it down to 5.6, the rest of the hardware scoring top at 5.9 I thought that by installing 4 gig in total my memory score would go up to 5.9 too, but can you believe it, it's dropped to 5.5!(BTW - exactly the same brand as the previous 2 sticks that were in there before Corsair XMS2 DDR2 TwinX matched PC6400)
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have read this stuff over and over and I have seen it change and I am still trying to figure it out. I have my hardware ready to put together my next "Home Grown PC". It will have a 64 bit dual core AMD card. A ATI Direct 10 compliant graphics card, 512mg and allow me to digitally connect to my 22" wide screen LG monitor. I have 4gbs of RAM (a pair of 2s). Oh yes, a loaded with functionality MSI motherboard that can handle a AMD quad processor if I want. So, I definitely, will want a 64 bit version of Vista. I have reseached and downloaded the 64 bit drivers needed. Some issues still there for my Canon Lide 50 scanner and syncing my Palm PDA. But, I will worry about it later.
I would love to get the Vista Ultimate, but to me, the cost is rather insane. Way to high for me, even though I work and am a student. I am looking at the Business 64 and the Home "Premium" 64. On the differences between them, it appears that the Home Premium version has a limitation of 16gb of RAM memory, while the Business edition has something like 128gb limitation. I have the full Nero Package, but there is backup and restore software with the Business Edition, not in the Home edition ?? The Business Edition does not come included with Windows Media Player and related technologies such as Windows Movie Maker, and a DVD creator as well as some "games". Aren't those games and the Windows multi-media products available for free download ?? Or possibly is it just telling the Business Edition to install them, like you would do now with XP. I am aware that every DVD is exactly the same, regardless of version, but it is the license that is entered that allows the installation to load and not load some features . I also am concerned about communication features that seem to be in Business that are not in Home ?? I know that the SP1 will be coming out shortly, so there might be some additional differences coming down...............
I have both Vista 64 Home Premium and Vista 64 Ultimate )on two exactly the same Asus computers. After I have put the computers into the sleep mode they immediately restart.::
View 4 Replies View RelatedI am trying to find, with out much luck, a good portable hard drive for my laptop. There are a lot of choices, but 99% of them have a disclaimer that they won't work with Vista 64 bit. I'm looking for something in the 320 to 500 GB range that I don't need a loan for! bought a Seagate FreeAgent and the package said "works with Vista". I went to their website for install instructions and found, in micro print, "no support for Vista 64, only Vista 32 bit". The statement on their packaging pretty much took care of their credibility and truthfulness!

View 7 Replies View Relatediv just ordered parts online for my dads pc and picked amongst other things for him these two items: TW3X4G1600C9D - 4GB (2x2GB) Corsair XMS3 Dominator DDR3, 1600 Mhz 512 mb Sapphire HD4650 He doesnt game so the graphics card is just purely to give him a picture on screen but this is going to give him 4.5gigs of RAM. He's only got Vista Ultimate 32bit retail while i have a Vista Ultimate 64bit OEM disk. So is it possible to send him my 64 bit disk and for him to install the 64bit version with his code so he can access all the ram hes going to have.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI originally had Windows Vista Home Premium 64bit installed on my computer. I wasn't given a restore disk when I bought my computer from Best Buy, luckily my brother had an old copy of XP Pro 32bit laying around, or at least I felt lucky when he came up with it after using Linux for a week.
My question is will I be able to switch from XP Pro 32bit back to Vista 64bit? I know jack about compatibility, if it isn't obvious. I've tried switching back to Linux Ubuntu 64bit but all I was given was error messages.
I currently own a Sony VAIO running on VISTA Ultimate 32bit. This version was upgraded from Windows VISTA Home Premium through Windows-Upgrade-Anywhere. Because of various issues with VISTA and my Laptop I decided to upgrade to a faster machine with 4 Gig Ram. I now would like to upgrade me VISTA Ultimate 32bit to VISTA Ultimate 64bit to remove the 3 Gig RAM restrictions.
Unfortunately no one at Microsoft could really tell me how to do this. This is a all a big mess and trying to find information is really hard. The company I run has a icrosoft Action Pack subscription and I now even have 10 VISTA Business/Ultimate licenses... but again... all for 32bit. I really don??t understand why it needs to be so hard to simply swap a 32bit acquired license for a 62bit one. It??s an unnecessary restriction. From a Microsoft Hotline I learned that swapping 32bit/64bit is no issue if I bought a boxed version of VISTA Ultimate. The funny thing is that the same Hotline told me months ago that there is no difference between buying a "virtual license" through Upgrade-Anywhere and buying the boxed version.
New Vista Home Premium 64bit user here. On my WinXP Pro PC, when I do the Microsoft Updates, I see Express and Custom update options. I like the option to install critical Express updates and be able to choose Custom updates for software or hardware. On my Vista Laptop, I don't see the Express and Custom options any more. Does Microsoft Updates for Vista Home Premium 64bit just install all the updates regardless now? Is there a link to an explanation of the new Vista 64bit update philosophy?

I am currently running Vista Home Premium 32bit (OEM, sadly) and would like your advice. I am planning on building a new PC over the summer (as I can finally work for decent wages!) and I want to make it a beast. I'm not going to go completely crazy; I'll have a budget of around €1,500 to €2,000. For the most part, I have a good idea of what I'll be getting (X38 Intel mobo, E8xxx Core2 or Quad, R700 ATi or 9xxx nVidia etc) but when it comes to RAM I'm a bit stuck. Should I get 4GBs and a cheaper 32bit version of Vista or go for the 64bit? I know 64bit can theoreticly handle alot more RAM than 32bit, but with 4GB is it worth spending the extra cash on 64bit, or will 32bit handle it just fine? (And by "handle it" I mean utilise it fully. I dont want to find only 3GBs out of 4GB are actually being used...) Aslo, for the 64bit users out there: how is driver support? Are you encountering many problems with games/drivers/hardware?

I'm trying to install Forsaken on Windows Vista 64bit and the screen just blacks out after the intro messages. It works fine on XP even though its an old game. I've tried right-clicking on the .exe files and setting compatability to Windows 95, 98 and 2000 and nothing changes. I used to love this game, does anyone know how to get it working?
