i have a c-media headset and i dont install updates because it has done this before.it is simple when the update ocures my headset has a staticky sound when playing any sound,the only fix is to re-install windows all over again(loseing everything).can anyone tell me what is going on? my headset is an edimensional audio fx pro 5+1 usb headset+mic. note:mic seams permenantly on even if no sound is being done around it
View 7 RepliesAll of the issues with IE7 crashing, Media Player Crashing, I am going to attribute to the ASUS P5N32 E SLI motherboard I was using. It just blue screened and died 2 days ago after forcing me to re-activate a 3rd time with the same board.
I have a Builders OEM of Ultimate 32 bit. My biggest problem is will my copy of Vista still be valid for a change out? I tried ASUS for the first time in 12 years instead of Intel. That would seem to have settled my curiosity for good. The board didn't even last 6 months on stock settings and normal to low use............
I just updated my windows Vista and when I then tried starting my computer afterwards it went into repair-mode. I tried to repair the flaws, but apparently it couldn't fix it all. It still goes directly to an entirely black screen with only my cursor marker on it, when I was supposed to write my password. I've already tried to start it in every safe-mode available? I installed it yesterday (15/11), as soon as i could.

Everything was fine for a few months then a couple of months ago the sound went away in media center for those videos. The media center still plays music and DVD's fine it just does not play viedo recorded off of the capture card in my computer anymore.
I am able to play those same video's through window's media player however.
Is anyone familiar with this?
When I play a movie in media player 11, I get the sound but no picture- just a black screen. I'm pretty sure it worked a couple months ago - could one of the windows automatic updates changed a setting?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI recently did a system re-build, as per my specs. I've been having awful crackling and sound stutters which sometimes appear to be causing lag spikes in games too. (Having said that, I get it even when doing simple taks like listening to music or watching movies on iTunes/Windows Media Player.) I've done all the usual things like updating to the latest BIOS/drivers, but still it won't go away. I've moved the sound card to another PCI slot and checked there's no IRQ conflicts too...

All media files play normally on other players. I have to state that sometimes I get the message: "The file.... The parameter is incorrect".
I just upgraded to Vista U x64 and am having sound problems. I have a prelude x-fi sound card but the sound coming out of it is extremely low. I have maxed out every thing I can max (control panel sound, creative panel) and the sound level is whisper quiet. I have also upgraded all my drivers except the prelude's, I would but their website isn't offering those drivers at the moment. But the drivers supplied with the card are vista certified so I should get something. But my mobo, etc is all updated. I have been searching for a solution for two days to no avail.

When I try to manually check for Windows Updates I get the message that I need to "first install an update for Windows Update". When I try to install that update for Windows Update, I get error code 80070643. There is a lot written about Windows Update error 80070643 having specifically to do with restarting the Office Source Engine for Microsoft Office 2003. HOWEVER, I do not have Microsoft Office 2003 installed on my system and this is not my issue! I am quite fearful at this point that I am vulnerable to all sorts of attacks considering that I haven't updated Vista for about 6 months now. This is not good.

View 8 Replies View RelatedAs far as I can determine, this update (released 22Oct08) does not work, at least not with Windows Vista Home Premium. I had update 7 running, and got an update notification for Release 10 earlier today. Downloaded and installed the update, tried the Java test page, Firefox (both 3.0.3 and today's Minefield beta-test for Firefox 3.1) hung. Tried the update in IE7, that, too, hung.
Went to Control Panel, clicked on the Java icon, had some problems opening it; when it did finally open, I went into Advanced and found that Update 10 was not recognizing IE. Opened IE, redownloaded the off-line update, to see if that worked; answer is, no, it still did not recognize IE. Back to Java, found the off-line installed for Update 7, removed 10, reinstalled 7; Java works once again. In the midst of this aggravation, trying to figure out what the problem was, I did find one link to an article that said Update 10 had been delayed due to some unspecified problem. Seems to me that, at least for Vista Home Premium, there is still at least one unspecified problem with Update 10.

just put together this computer and it ran good for the first few days, now it's to the point where it won't even boot up. It first crashed on me when loading up a game, then it crashed during the middle of updating. It crashes in start up sometimes and it freezes when I'm trying to run the memory diagnostics tool. The blue screen keeps giving me this message "Driver irql not less or equal" and I have no idea what's wrong, can anyone help? it also has a hard update (i.e. manually downloaded .exe file) as teh self updater wouldn't find it, but now it keeps crashing on loadup where it shows developer logos.
