I am trying to burn a ISO image from the Dell web site (DCSE). Once I copy a 0 kb file, Raxio is unable to burn a copy to cd for easier viewing ( Instead of having to print everything out). Is there a better program to use? Does it sound like I am doing something wrong?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI recently bought a new laptop with Vista Home Premium 32bit and everything on it works fine. Or well, not everything lol. I can't seem to get any burning software to work :s I tried installing Nero, but it gave me a message that "another program has just been updated, so you need to restart" (or something like that). I restart and it says it again. I tried installing CDBurnerXP and it installed fine, but when I start the program, nothing happens. Program don't open or anything. I then tried installing Starburn and it also installed just fine, but when I click on Data Burning Wizard, it shows up that it's trying to find CD/DVD burners, and it keeps searching forever (or well, I waited 30 minutes and then manually shutdown the program).
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have some problems regarding a clean instalation of Vista x64. Some time ago my HDD has broken and I have bought a new one. So I have to instal Vista which I got when I was buying my laptop. It´s Asus n80, GeForce 9m series (not sure which one) 512mb, 4gb RAM, Intel 2.0 GHz Dual Core, not sure which motherboard but preaty sure it´s Gigabyte´s. So the problem is next;
I insert the Instalation CD in the DVD-ROM, I check the option, in BIOS for "boot from ´CD/DVD Drive´", the instalation beggins, I check the language, upgrade/custom (i choosed ´custom´), i accept the terms and then one of the following two happens:
1st. Starting Setup screen appears and then it freezes.. Actualy it doesen´t freeze, ´cause the "working cursor" is still moving but nothing happens.
2nd. Setup process beggins and when "expanding Windows files" beggins the setup just stops and this error code appears: Windows could not format a partition on disk 0. The error occurred while preparing the partition selected for installations. Error code: 0x80070057
I recently installed Office Home & Student on a new machine with Vista and found that I can no longer copy an Excel chart and past it in the message space in Mail. I could do this with no problem using Office 2002 - XP and Vista. Is the problem with Vista or with Office 2007? I have already changed the registry to allow direct e-mail from Word and Excel to Mail (by-passing the requirement to have Outlook), but this doesn't seem to be related to that silly feature.

I am trying to copy everything from one to another (files in folders and files that are not in folders)
I tried selecting all and then send to Z:, but it took about six hours to copy about 20 gig (I have about 180 gig to copy)
I read some where that robocopy is a faster and better way to copy files.The thing is I do not know what syntax to use. I was wondering if someone could tell me the syntax I should use to copy EVERYTHING from the usb driveK: to the network drive Z:
My old Windows XP PC died months ago (motherboard problems) and so I took out the hard drive (which still functions fine) and put it in my new PC, but I can't seem to copy any of my files in the My Documents folder from the old drive to my newer larger drive. I've had this drive in here for the last several months and have had no problems writing other files to this 'older' drive (250 gig Maxtor 16mb cache, 7,200RPM drive (btw it's only a year old), but when I try to copy files to another drive I get the following error message: "You'll need to provide administrator permission to copy to this file." This only happens with files that are in the My Documents folder. My current login has administrator rights, so I'm thinking some how this has something to do with this drive being from a different computer's installation of XP.

Okay so I wanted to make a DVD, I opened Windows DVD Maker, added the movies etc. But when i click Burn, a message pops up that says "The Disc in your DVD burner is not a recordable DVD. Please insert a recordable or rewriteable DVD." I attached a pic of the message, its stupid.bmp.
I am using Memorex DVD-R 4.7GB, so i know that the DVD can be used.
I tried burning with the Roxio programme that came installed already when i got my Laptop. It completed burning, but when I ejected the DVD, only a tiny strip was written. When I put the DVD in my dvd player it says Bad Disc and on the comp, it has a DVD picture with DVD-R underneath it, and it says DVD RW Drive (E: ) name of dvd. It tells me that i have 4.38GB of free space. i attached a pic of this because i dont think i explained it well, its disc.bmp
I dunno if this is important but my laptop is a Dell inspiron 1521. the system type is 32bit. I have Vista Home Premium
Under Device Manager, when I expand DVD/CD-ROM drives, PBDS DVD+-RW DS-8W1P ATA Device shows. I dunno if thats important either.
this is my first time burning a dvd so i dunno if it once worked.
i can read dvd's however, i can't burn dvd's, i've search for solutions but i've found none, hopefully i'll get one here. I throught the problem would be solved with a system restore, starting from scratch, i have tried roxio, nero and windows vista itself to burn my dvd none with success.

I said 'might' as i'm afraid if i read it wrong. I can't even remember where i read it from. So, everything i just said, does it actually exists or i totally read it wrong?

View 9 Replies View RelatedI am having the same problem as Scubiekim - except I DO use Windows Vista. When I put a CD-R in the drive, and try to burn pics onto it, it tells me I can't. Then every 5 minutes since I've tried, I get a balloon on the bottom of my screen saying "You have files waiting to be burned to disc. To view files, click this balloon". I then click the balloon, and nothing happens. I know it's not a problem with the CD, since I have other pictures on it, and it's not full. The pics I'm trying to work with are JPEG files, the same as the pics that are already on the disc.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI spent all day yesterday creating 2 movies in Windows Movie Maker that included photo's and video's. They were just perfect. I went into burn the DVD's, it said Windows DVD Maker will close and save your movie and start it in DVD Maker. It did, but then I realized I wasn't going to have time to burn them. When I closed it asked if I wanted to save them and I clicked yes.
When I went back into Windows Movie Maker I can open the saved movies but the video's have red X's on them in the storyboard and timeline views. If I click on the X, the option that applies is "browse for missing file". When I do that it takes me to the file on my computer where the video was prior to importing it into Movie Maker, which now says it has no such video. how can I get them back? I am so frustrated I scream, I've looked everywhere on my computer, in my recycle bin, etc. and they all say they don't have it.
I have been trying in vain to burn some TV show DVD's from uTorrent. After a lot of investigating I have come to the conclusion that Windows Media Player in Windows Vista Home Basic won't allow me to do this. I can PLAY purchased DVD but not burn.

When I look at the file size of a 2-3 hr movie, the file size is somewhere between 6Gb-8Gb. Since the capacity of my DVDs are only 4.7Gb, I can only assume that most movie DVDs are using some type of compression software that decompresses the file as it plays. My question is, what type of software do I need to allow me to burn these files to a DVD so I still have them without using up all of my hard drive storage space.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have an HP Pavilion Media Center m8200n PC with Windows Vista Home Premium. The problem is with publishing from WMM to DVD using Windows DVD Maker. The encoding process goes fine but once it begins to finalize (98.8%) the DVD will eject and then it gives me the message that it cannot complete the burning process due to an error but it doesn’t tell me what the error is. The only thing mentioned is to check the burner and make sure it is connect properly. I should mention that I have an internal LightScribe burner (ATAPI DVD A DH16A3L SCSI cd Rom device). After spending the better part of a Sunday afternoon I tried using only a LightScribe DVD and that worked but in the past I had been able to use any brand DVD. Does anyone have an idea as to why DVD Maker is no longer able to burn onto any DVD brand?

It had been a while but a few days ago i had tried to burn a CD with windows media player using MP3s from my hard drive. first the error with windows media player is that it begins to write all songs without analysing which it used to do, the burn rate literally increases every second however before ti used to take some time and stay a couple of seconds in each percentage. in the end all songs will fail to burn as soon as one or two fail all the others do at once. the red x error only says check the drive is connected and to check the cd is not damaged. non of theres erros could be so as i have used two different batches of CDs and the drive reads CDs and can clone CDs with nero still.
when trying to burn with nero the only error which comes up states that the burn failed. the log is very lengthy however. if i go to device manager the drivers are upto date. this is a very strange problem as nero is able to copy original CDs but however no files from hard drive can be written to a CD as an audio CD for some reason.
One of my recording and burning devices is a DVD RW It does not matter what I put in a DVD I can only burn one item If I try to burn another item it tells me the DVD is full

My notebook has an option in BIOS to boot from the flash drive, but I cannot figure out how to create it. It seems that the regular CD burner programs do not do this.

View 8 Replies View RelatedWhen i try to burn my set of Recovery Disc from my 7 months old HP 530 laptop operating on Windows Vista 32bits. The process of the burning crashed along the line but not knowing to me because i thought the set of the Backup and Recovery CD is just only one DVD CD since the process stop on one DVD CD but later got it that it should be two DVD CDs. Foolish me, I was rest assured that I have the Backup and Recovery CD with me until that very ill-fitted day that I tried to recover my laptop. Along the process, when it got to where there is REINSTALLING THE ORIGINAL CONTENTS in the Recovery Manager screen, my computer just show ”ERROR 0008, IF PROBLEM CONTINUES, CONTACT THE HP CUSTOMER SERVICE”.
The next option it gave me is to click OK or CANCEL. Of which if I did , It reboots and stop at the first black screen that usually show: PRESS F11 FOR EMERGENCY RECOVERY. Of which if I did not press the F11 button, It shows: ”BOOTMG FILE MISSING”, ”PRESS CRTL+ALT+DEL TO REBOOT” and it will be going through this loop throughout. burnt Backup and Recovery DVD CD from my D: partition, it just copy only few of the recovery boot data. I have tried the recovery CD I downloaded from this site but to avail. It only says after the startup repairing ''THIS SYSTEM CANNOT BE REPAIR AUTOMATICALLY''.
