I recently bought a new laptop with Vista Home Premium 32bit and everything on it works fine. Or well, not everything lol. I can't seem to get any burning software to work :s I tried installing Nero, but it gave me a message that "another program has just been updated, so you need to restart" (or something like that). I restart and it says it again. I tried installing CDBurnerXP and it installed fine, but when I start the program, nothing happens. Program don't open or anything. I then tried installing Starburn and it also installed just fine, but when I click on Data Burning Wizard, it shows up that it's trying to find CD/DVD burners, and it keeps searching forever (or well, I waited 30 minutes and then manually shutdown the program).
"A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available." I tried to open proxy switcher program but everytime i do, this error occurs. Previously, I was able to open the program several times until i uninstalled it. A few days later, I re-installed the program again and tried to use it. But was unable to. I tried to turn on DEP for all programs and services except those i select which includes proxy switcher program. It dont seem to work either.
I would like to know if there is a website where I can download a free version to brun cd's and make cd covers? I have Nero but I can't get the new version haveing some issues.
I am trying to burn a ISO image from the Dell web site (DCSE). Once I copy a 0 kb file, Raxio is unable to burn a copy to cd for easier viewing ( Instead of having to print everything out). Is there a better program to use? Does it sound like I am doing something wrong?
I have tried to become admin in several different ways so I can have full control of installing programs with no problems but I am still having problems. I have disabled the UAC and created a admin account (by opening CMD and enabling admin) and I am still having problems installing some programs as I get the "Unable to open program. If you are logged on with limited privileges, please log off, log back on as Administrator and try again." Is there anything else I can do to become admin.
I 'partially' installed a Click'N'Design program on my Vista Home Premium before the computer 'hung' due to obvious incompatibility. Unable to uninstall it now with Control Panel's 'uninstall a program' which returns an error message 'unable to locate the Install.log file'. Windows Install Clean Up does not list this program (as I presume it wasn't installed using Windows Installer).
I am runningOS windows vista ultimate 32bit. When I go to programs and features to uninstall a program all that is displayed is organize and views. When I click on a program I never see the uninstall displayed. Is this normal! How can I uninstall programs if it does not display the uninstall feature.

Having downloaded Ulead Video Studio 11 Plus (Vista compatible,trial/evaluation version) direct from Corel???s site, saved on a directory, installed, and then trying to open that program, I cannot do it. Does not react at all. UAC is activated ()asking me permision tu continue,AV desactivated during installation, reboot many times. Repeating downloading (from same source as well as from other source as BitTorrent), uninstalling the previous installed one - as per ???cleaning??? procedure I saw in Corel's forum - then re-installing the software, same result. Running as Administrator and adjusting firewall settings accordingly, same result, cannot open the program neither by double-clinking icon on desktop/Start Program nor exe file.Note:
1)There is another Ulead software (licensed),named ???Ulead DVD MovieFactory for Toshiba??? allready installed, working perfectly. 2)I???m using a Notebook Toshiba Satellite P200-10C, Vista Home Premium as OS, Intel Core(2) duo T7200, NVIDIA GeForce Go 7600, Intel 945, Realtek High Definition Audio, dual HDD 125GB each, 2046MB memory, integrated webcam. 3)Try to install UVS 11 Plus downloaded from a BitTorrent tracker(after cleaning as above) and a message occurs : ???The security information is invalid or has been modified???. Cannot open the program, so I uninstalled it.....
Hi, I am going crazy trying to find a program that will open .doc files without any success. I did download a program, cant remember the name but it only allowed me to view all documents and I want to be able to amend them too.
so this is the weirdest error ever. I installed SlySoft Virtual CloneDrive, as well as an update to Comodo Internet Security. Both installers wanted me to install an unsigned driver, then for me to reboot. After I rebooted, I could not open any 32-bit programs. I have no clue why. I uninstalled Virtual CloneDrive, but I still cannot open 32-bit programs. It's so weird, I can open 64-bit programs just fine, but I try to open a 32-bit program, nothing happens. If I boot into Safe Mode, I can open 32-bit (and 64-bit) programs, but I cannot open 32-bit programs normally.
Since I can run 32-bit programs in Safe Mode, I think it is a driver issue, or something that Safe Mode does not load that Vista does normally. Has anyone else had this problem? Does anyone know a fix?
I have a Canon camera. I have tried uninstalling a Canon program from the control panel. It will not uninstall. I have tried using the uninstall.exe from the Common Files/Canon. It won't uninstall. We tried several different things, even a system restore. Nothing works.
i couldn't open a program so i chose "Open as" and didn't realize i had "always use this program for all files" and now nothing at all will open except my browser and everything is saved as a .EXE file i have windows vista. Also whenever i try and download something it saves as a .EXE Im not too tecky so bit by bit instructions would be nice

If I receive an e-mail with an attachment "DOC" my system can't open it. I'm running with Vista and even if someone else is using Vista I still can't open it. The system suggests Adobe or Internet Explorer neither of which works. I've tried to get my Microsoft Works Word to open it but I'm not having any luck. I don't have Microsoft Word, could that be my problem.
Just recently, I have been unable to open .png files. The default program for opening the file type has been unchanged (Windows Photo Gallery). Can anyone tell me the problem?
Since today I have been unable to open attachments (word, excel and jpg) except pdf files. I am able to copy and paste to a folder and open from the folder. I get a "The file can not be found" message. Had a big windows service pack yesterday, could that change any mail settings?
Once I put the CD in the 'Setup' comes on, I press Run, and then click Continue as it needs permission to open the CD..... and that's it. The programme will never open or show an option to install. If I right click onto the icon and click open or install nothing still happens. This is for all CD's that this happens to.
Unable to open .pps attachments since I installed IE8. Had no problem before this. Error message suggests turning off anti-virus but that didn't work. Am using Trend Micro anti-virus.

Since installing AVG 9 I have a few problems, one which is now known to AVG that attachements cannot be sent in the likes of Yahoo and Sky Mail, this has gone to the developers.
This one may not be AV related so thought I would ask here.
I have been unzipping files in Vista with no problem, after the download of AVG 9 I am unable to open them.
When I right click on the file I do not get Extract all in the list.
I do not know which is the program that opens zip files within Vista and so I am unable to tell it which program to Open with.
I set my partner up with a live.com.au email address and he has been unable to open the attachments. they are word / excel 97-2003 documents and spreadsheets and also some photos - jpg files. He currently has office 2007 trial on the laptop and I have downloaded word & excel viewer 2003 but most of them are still not opening. I had a couple open and then the next day when I tried to open them again to save them well they wouldn't.
Computer is just a year old, came with Works installed. For some unknown reason the problem began: could not open document files with Works. This worked in the past, but suddenly I could not open these files.
I have a persistant re occuring problem over the past couple of weeks.
Every few days i try to open various emails via the paperclip with attchments such as .jpg files and the window opens up " Windows cannot find"xxxxxxxx.jpg". Kake sure you have typed the name correctly and then try again."
I can only open them if i save the attachment this happens to all emails in my inbox.
I have cured this in the past by doing a system restore going back a couple of days and things are good for 2 or 3 days then the same thing happens.
