I have been reading other posts, but I am not getting it. After clicking on the send/receive button, a few seconds go by and then the error pops up and says:
The host 'POP3' could not be found. Please verify that you have entered the server name correctly. Account: 'POP3', Server: 'POP3', Protocol: POP3, Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 11001, Error Number: 0x800CCC0D
I have Vista program, so I assume it could be that. That is been where all my problems have started.

I am receiving duplicate emails on most (not all) emails. I have gone to Tools->Accounts and there are NOT duplicate accounts. The problem seems to have started when I upgraded to Trend Micro Internet Security 2009 in January.

I received an email from someone and it keeps sending me 100's of copies of the same email from the same date and time. My inbox is no longer getting my normal emails and I've tried blocking this person but it still sends the emails. When I click on send and receive is says retrieving message 1 of 16 but only one message comes in (the junk one) and then an error message appears saying:

After many months of trouble free use windows mail is no longer picking up mails from my primary email account with virgin.net. I have tried removing and adding the account again through tools, accounts, but it now gives me the box "Windows Security" and asks me to verify both username and password for my mail server which I have just resubmitted - it wont take the details I input and continues to give me that box - if I click the X to close that window I get the following error message -Account: 'pop.virgin.net', Server: 'pop.virgin.net', Protocol: POP3, Server Response: '-ERR invalid command', Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 0x800CCC90, Error Number: 0x800CCC91

My daughter used my laptop to set up a Live Mail account for herself. Now every time I switch on my computer I have to type in my User Name and Password as normal but I get a message immediately underneath saying I have X-number of unread emails. These turn out to be emails to my daughter. If she logs in then her email only shows the recent emails that she has not read. My login shows ALL of them. It is becoming frustrating having to delete all her emails. I assume she has set up a forwarding facilty in her account. How can this be switched off so I don't get her emails.

I receive the following error message everytime I send emails through my aapt account via Outlook or Windows Mail The rejected e-mail address was 'xxx@xxxx.com.au'. Subject 'Fw: Christmas Wishes.', Account: 'mail.aapt.net.au', Server: 'mail.aapt.net.au', Protocol: SMTP, Server Response: '554 5.7.1 : Client host rejected: (SPM:RAD) User account blocked from sending email due to policy violation -Please contact support', Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 554, Error Number: 0x800CCC79
I have used aapt as my Service Provider for a few months. I was using Outlook to send and receive mails. Everything was working as expected. Then one day outlook stopped sending emails but it could receive emails. I contacted aapt and they told me they didn't support outlook only express and there was nothing they could do. So I changed from outlook to Windows mail. I completed the set up which was identical to outlook and again I received the same problem and error message.....

I have a problem common to most except that I could recive emails and suudenly I cant! I had Macafee when I purchased my computer from Dell together with Vista. It is coincident that the problem occurred since i renewed my subscription to Macafee. However I have taken advice in these threads and disabled it and have tried "netsh interface tcp set global autotuning=disabled" in cmd.exe but still to no avail. The error message is
"Account: 'pop.virgin.net', Server: 'pop.virgin.net', Protocol: POP3, Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Error Number: 0x800CCC19.

About 1 in every 5 emails does not come in through Windows Mail. I know this is happening because I've set up a forwarding account Google Mail. Spam filter is not on so that's not the problem. It seems random so I receive/don't receive email from the same addresses. It's not affected by attachments.

Desktop with Vista using Windows Mail, laptop with XP using Outlook Express, router with wireless connection. Desktop ON, laptop OFF....send/receive numerous times per day...some messages come in. Evening, desktop OFF, laptop ON, check messages, and many messages come in, some sent very early in the day, and throughout the day, but they never came in to Windows Mail.
Various senders, and none of them Junk or Spam, some with attachments, some without, but all from contacts in both Vista Address Book and WinXP address book. Some messages from a particular sender will come into Windows Mail, and others will not. Nothing in "Options" seems to address this.

I'm having trouble with Windows Mail. I'm currently running Vista Home Premium Service Pack 1. I will receive an e-mail, open it, read and file it. A few days later the same e-mail arrives again. This does not happen with all e-mails. I also have attempted to send myself e-mails from my work station and they never arrive. My wife found this error message today when she attempted sending herself an e-mail from work: host smtp.where.secureserver.net[64.202.166.12] said: 550 sorry, mail to that recipient is not accepted (5.7.1) (in reply to RCPT TO command) Two problems, are they related?

I often need to send email from my own address to my own address and have never had a problem doing this in the past with WM. Now all of a sudden, I can send it...but don't receive it. The emails come into the web based servers, but not to Windows Mail. I recently updated my AVG anti-virus to their latest free edition, but I have no idea if that might be the reason.

Two weeks ago, email from my cousin in Ireland stopped being received (I am in the USA) for no apparent reason. She has checked/verified my address that she is sending to and it is correct. I have checked/verified that there are no blocks or filters turned on that should prevent her email from coming thru. I have even checked to make sure that her domain "ie" for Ireland is not blocked from my email. I had previously been receiving her email with no problems and had made no changes to my email program or computer.
I have gone to her email address, right clicked and scrolled to "junk mail", then clicked on "add user to safe sender's list" and also "add user's domain to safe sender's list". On the specific day I do that, her emails will come thru. Then the next day, they no longer come thru and continue to disappear. She receives no error messages, nor do I. I never receive the emails. We have verified this by calling each other on the phone so I know she is sending multiple emails daily that I do not receive. I have contacted Comcast, but no solution to date. Have been using McAfee firewall and Norton anti-virus. All of my other email seems to be coming thru fine, it is just the email from my cousin in Ireland that I have not been receiving.
