Not Receiving All Email
Aug 22, 2009
Desktop with Vista using Windows Mail, laptop with XP using Outlook Express, router with wireless connection. Desktop ON, laptop OFF....send/receive numerous times per day...some messages come in. Evening, desktop OFF, laptop ON, check messages, and many messages come in, some sent very early in the day, and throughout the day, but they never came in to Windows Mail.
Various senders, and none of them Junk or Spam, some with attachments, some without, but all from contacts in both Vista Address Book and WinXP address book. Some messages from a particular sender will come into Windows Mail, and others will not. Nothing in "Options" seems to address this.

I often need to send email from my own address to my own address and have never had a problem doing this in the past with WM. Now all of a sudden, I can send it...but don't receive it. The emails come into the web based servers, but not to Windows Mail. I recently updated my AVG anti-virus to their latest free edition, but I have no idea if that might be the reason.

I have several email address' that I forward to my main personal email in Windows Mail. I have not been receiving many of my emails (hit and miss) and here is the error message they receive: One of the recipients was rejected by the server; The rejected email address was '(my email here)' Server: 'smtp.west.cox.net' Protocol: SMPT, Server Response: '550 5.1.1 relaying not allowed', Port: 25, Secure (SSL) No, Server Error: 550, Error Number: 0x800CCC79.
When I send test emails or work with the server that I forward from, they all get to me just fine! But I have several teachers that email me from a high school, and theirs are all bumped.

My problem is that whenever a friend of mine sends me an email, Windows Mail shuts down and I am unable to read the email in time. This has only happened with this one person. Mind you I used to receive her emails with no problem in the past. I don't know why this is happening now. I don't have any problems with anyone elses emails, only this friend.

I am able to send e-mails to my friends' address and I checked at her end and
even if we do "reply" nothing comes through ever from her computer to mine and she is using the correct e-mail address. We used to be able to send back and forth no problem.

Is it the ISP's fault? Your server has unexpectedly terminated the connection. Possible causes for this include server problems, network problems, or a long period of inactivity. I have a problem common to most except that I could recive emails and suudenly I cant! I had Macafee when I purchased my computer from Dell together with Vista. It is coincident that the problem occurred since i renewed my subscription to Macafee. However I have taken advice in these threads and disabled it and have tried "netsh interface tcp set global autotuning=disabled" in cmd.exe but still to no avail. The error message is

About 1 in every 5 emails does not come in through Windows Mail. I know this is happening because I've set up a forwarding account Google Mail. Spam filter is not on so that's not the problem. It seems random so I receive/don't receive email from the same addresses. It's not affected by attachments.

I have been reading other posts, but I am not getting it. After clicking on the send/receive button, a few seconds go by and then the error pops up and says:
The host 'POP3' could not be found. Please verify that you have entered the server name correctly. Account: 'POP3', Server: 'POP3', Protocol: POP3, Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 11001, Error Number: 0x800CCC0D
I have Vista program, so I assume it could be that. That is been where all my problems have started.

I'm having trouble with Windows Mail. I'm currently running Vista Home Premium Service Pack 1. I will receive an e-mail, open it, read and file it. A few days later the same e-mail arrives again. This does not happen with all e-mails. I also have attempted to send myself e-mails from my work station and they never arrive. My wife found this error message today when she attempted sending herself an e-mail from work: host smtp.where.secureserver.net[64.202.166.12] said: 550 sorry, mail to that recipient is not accepted (5.7.1) (in reply to RCPT TO command) Two problems, are they related?

Two weeks ago, email from my cousin in Ireland stopped being received (I am in the USA) for no apparent reason. She has checked/verified my address that she is sending to and it is correct. I have checked/verified that there are no blocks or filters turned on that should prevent her email from coming thru. I have even checked to make sure that her domain "ie" for Ireland is not blocked from my email. I had previously been receiving her email with no problems and had made no changes to my email program or computer.
I have gone to her email address, right clicked and scrolled to "junk mail", then clicked on "add user to safe sender's list" and also "add user's domain to safe sender's list". On the specific day I do that, her emails will come thru. Then the next day, they no longer come thru and continue to disappear. She receives no error messages, nor do I. I never receive the emails. We have verified this by calling each other on the phone so I know she is sending multiple emails daily that I do not receive. I have contacted Comcast, but no solution to date. Have been using McAfee firewall and Norton anti-virus. All of my other email seems to be coming thru fine, it is just the email from my cousin in Ireland that I have not been receiving.

Windows Mail has worked fine since purchased computer in February 2008. Today, 5/20/08 one incoming message stuck in "receiving". No error message. If I try to shut down the computer, it tells me that a program is still running and I must "abort" the download to shut down the computer. Outgoing mail will not send unless I shut down and restart the computer. I'm basically computer illiterate.
