when I play a game and listen to music at the same time, this led me to belive that there was something wrong with the onboard soundcard that i have (RealTek) but after updating that, every possible driver that i can think of (Sounds, Graphics, WLan, CPU, you name it) I am still getting the issue......................

I have been having this problem, which is that sometimes, my sound is working, and sometimes it is not. It usually starts working after my PC has been off for a long period of time (for example, when I wake up). Oh, and if this helps, my soundcard is a Realtek HD card.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have a HP pc with onboard sound - analog and coax digital out. I'm using neither, I have a USB DAC connected which is working just fine. However, on a lark the other day, I went into the audio manager and "disabled" the Realtek digital sound option (which I wasn't using anyway at this point, but it was fully available to be configured and I had experimented with it before - it worked fine!). I fully expected the choice to just "grey out" when I selected disable. In fact, it totally vanished from the panel. Never to return. I tried a system restore but that didn't bring it back. I reinstalled the driver, no luck. This isn't affecting my use of the system (it's a music server - iTunes serving my music to the DAC and out to my audio system), but it's very annoying to have something "disappear" and not easily undone. And if I swap the system for some other household use, I'll want the digital sound back. The analog sound output option was not affected by any of this.

After waiting for all the Windows updates to finish i turned on some music and my Sound was messed up, i have sound it just dosn't seem to work right.On some ill be able to hear everything but the singer and on others and hear only the singer. This also effects games, i turn on my scarface seeing it was closest game near me and installed it, on that i can't hear Scarfaces voice, or the cars around me but i can hear other people speak. Does anyone know whats wrong with my sound? I use the soundcard that is built onto my motherbored because i have never had need of a Sound card in the past. my new motherbored is an MSI motherbored and my processor is Intel core 2 duo.

However, my Quadraphonic speakers don't seem to be working as I can only get sound to come out of my front two speakers when in WMP etc. when I go into control panel, I can get sound coming out of all 4 speakers, that silly test sound.

Vista seem to recognize it and install the drivers when it's plugged in, including the message that the device has installed successfully. The only thing I can think of is that the drivers are bad. I've remove the device from device manager and nothing seems to help
View 4 Replies View RelatedI recently did a system re-build, as per my specs. I've been having awful crackling and sound stutters which sometimes appear to be causing lag spikes in games too. (Having said that, I get it even when doing simple taks like listening to music or watching movies on iTunes/Windows Media Player.) I've done all the usual things like updating to the latest BIOS/drivers, but still it won't go away. I've moved the sound card to another PCI slot and checked there's no IRQ conflicts too...
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a GA-73PVM-S2H motherboard with onboard Realtek HD Audio. I have a 2.1 speaker set up which has two small front speakers and one subwoofer. Until last night I had a Guitarport which is a kinda external sound card which i use for playing the guitar (its pretty cool). Anyway, i took this out and plugged the speaker lead back into my PC but since then i cannot get any sound out of the speakers. When i look at the Realtek Panel and get it to look like my set up, when i do the test thing on the speakers NO sound comes out at all. However, when i set it up to have REAR speakers i can hear the test sound but it comes out of the front speakers and when i play an MP3 i can hear the music REALLY QUIET as if it is the sound that would normally be coming out of the rear speakers which i do not have. It sounded to me like i had connected the speakers up incorrectly but there is only one lead and it is definately in the right 'hole' and i tried it in all the other 'holes' too but still not working.

I have 2 front and 2 rear speakers that worked great with my old computer (also with onboard realtek sound card) so I guess the speakers are not the problem. Let me tell you exactely how the sound sounds like.
I put Madonna, Fever song (which is a good one..)(MP3) and I bearly hear her voice... when her background vocals start screaming I can hear them bettter the the main vocal. It's like the front speakers and the rare swithced, but they didn't - from the Realtewk Audio Manager when I test the sound everything is ok.. I mean the front sound comes from the front speakers and the rare sound from the rare ones. I also tried to change the speaker configuration from 5.1 speakers to stereo and to quadraphonic but the sound is the same - only background voices!
In my status bar, pop ups continued to pop up, stating that i just unplugged a device from the driver, then it would tell me i plugged it back in, all the time doing nothing remotely close to these insane accusations, i continued without really worrying about it. until i actually lost my sound, and it went crazy with those pop ups. so i uninstalled the driver, reboot, installed new driver from realtek, and it worked for like 4 hours, then no sound again. uninstalled driver, reboot, install, reboot, no sound, and i am apparently continuously unplugging the jack like a madman. so, another uninstall, reboot, but this time i install the driver from the cd i got with my pc (dell inspiron 530s-120b)......................
View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm getting no sound out of my speakers(2.1), when I plug them into the green jack on the rear panel it says that I have plugged in the pink and black jacks, but neither of those are plugged in. I've spent hours on the phone with HP and looking on the internet but i can't find any solutions. I've updated every possible driver. Every now and then I can somehow get sound by messing with settings and restarting or doing a power drain or a million other things, but as soon as I restart the computer they aren't working again, and the same solution never seems to work twice. Also, when the sound does work, it still says the black and pink are plugged in.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI just upgraded to Vista U x64 and am having sound problems. I have a prelude x-fi sound card but the sound coming out of it is extremely low. I have maxed out every thing I can max (control panel sound, creative panel) and the sound level is whisper quiet. I have also upgraded all my drivers except the prelude's, I would but their website isn't offering those drivers at the moment. But the drivers supplied with the card are vista certified so I should get something. But my mobo, etc is all updated. I have been searching for a solution for two days to no avail.
View 8 Replies View RelatedMy System is in my sig. My 1y old Toshiba laptop w/Vista, using Realtek sound driver version, 6.0.1.5322. I had the left speaker go out. I ran through all system diagnostics. I checked for updates and found I have the latest driver. I then pulled the keyboard and disconnected both speaker leads from the board. Connecting the left speaker lead to the right board plug in, the speaker dose work. I then connected the right speaker lead to the left board plug in, and got no sound. FYI when I plug in the head phones only the right side works as well. My question is, based on information currently out there, is it likely I have an issue with the board or is there a known issue with the driver that would cause sound to go out on one side?

Apon browsing RealTekHD audio properites I discovered that the only options for Digital Output(RCA) were all 2-Channel under "Default Format" tab. However my front pannel Audio Output Jack(HD Audio 2nd Output) has an extra third tab labeled "Speaker Configuration" and has options for up to 7.1 surround but these settings do not impact my Digital Output(RCA) channel. Now my reciever does have a multi-channel input that could take advantage of the Analog Outputs in the rear but the distance is to great and multiple wires are expensive.

During that time, I have noticed two things I could do on my older computer that had XP but can't do on Vista. (a) I cannot listen to anything I record into my computer while recording it. I have to record, then listen back. (b) I cannot record anything that is playing on my computer.
I read somewhere about copyright issues or something, but I work in the radio business, so I use my laptop for audio recording all the time. When you are recording an hour or longer broadcast for re-airing or for archive purposes, it really sucks if the audio doesn't record right, something you fix if you were able to here it during recording.
hey, i upgraded my graphics card (ATI HD3850) on my computer and it works fine but i no longer have sound on my computer. i tryed updating the drivers and changing the settings and still no sound. when i take out the graphics card i have sound again. i asked bestbuy and they said that i shorted out something on the motherboard, i told them that when i take the card back out i have sound again and they were clueless about what to do. nobody that i've talked to has ever heard of this happening. they said it seems like a driver conflict and to upgrade the drivers, but that didn't work. does anyone have any ideas?
View 5 Replies View RelatedHaving bought a new computer, I recently upgraded from XP 32 bits to Vista 64 bits. On XP 32 bits, the sound was awesome, but on vista 64 bits. IT SOUNDS LIKE CRAP!It's like if I had 10$ speakers with no sound card. I'm using optical with the latest Auzentech drivers with Creative alchemy and Ive set my speakers to 5.1. When I change settings in the Auzentech control panel, it doesn't get any better. I can enable X-Fi Crystalizer, change the equalizer to vocals, rock, anything, it doesn't make any difference.

Now on the back the out ports work for all the wires but when I try to plug into the mic one on the back it doesn't. View 4 Replies View RelatedI have an Hewlett Packard SR5401UK pc running Vista 32-bit it has onboard graphics & sound but I've just installed an NVIDIA 8800gs graphics card, the card works fine but for some reason the sound has disappeared!! i've just updated the realtek drivers but still have the problem!! it worked fine before installing the g.card , whats even more strange is that when i plug in my headphones i can hear sound but nothing at all through the speakers!!
When i installed the 8800gs it disabled the onboard g.card automatically itself i was wondering if it has done the same with the sound? but if it had i wouldnt be able to hear sound through the headphones right? device manager says the sound is working fine!
I've recently finished a new build, and I got a set of Bose Companion 3's for my setup. and I must say, they are by FAR the best PC speakers I've ever owned Hands Down.. MUCH better than the Logitech 5.1 I had. But thats why Bose is the best..I have the eVGA 750i Mobo and it's supposed to have a pretty Decent onboard sound card.. but then again, it's onboard so how good can it really be.? I've asked in a few other places what I should get and I was hoping for some ideas. I don't need anything amazing.
I for sure don't need the best like a "Auzen X-FI Prelude 7.1" I kno they rock but I'm not about to spend $200 on a sound card. Those are for the Music Enthusiasts. I personally think that it sounds pretty amazing right now. so some might say why even get a card if "I" think they sound great. some others might not, but i think they do. but I hear it's best to upgrade for the quality will be much better. and this EAX thing with gaming and what not. I was told that makes gaming sound.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI guess SigmaTel is famous for putting out pretty ****ty audio hardware/software because a lot of people claim to having had problems with thier sound cards...Anyway, I have no sound coming from my speakers what so ever except for the windows error beep. Theres an "x" on the speakers on the taskbar. The device name is there and claims to be working when I hover over the speaker sys. tray icon, also in device manager and in playback devices. Although the Levels tab in Sound>Speakers/Headphones>Properties is completely empty. The Volume Mixer claims there is NO audio device installed even tho' its there when I hover on the speaker icon. I've tried uninstalling and installing just about everything possible from both gateway and windows but the problem persists...
View 8 Replies View RelatedI installed an audio card (Sound Blaster X-Fi model SB046APCS) and I can't hear any sound comming out of my PC (I build it myself). The sound tests tell me everyting is working OK and that there are no confilcts with the card. Yesterday I downloaded the Vista audio driver SBXF_PCDVT_LB_2_15_0004.exe from Creative and still no sound. When performing the diagnostics, I can see a green color going up and down in the sound bar but thats all.
I have an Intel DX38BT motherboard, do I have to disable whatvever options there are for audio in the BIOS or the motherboard disables it when it detects an audio card installed? The sound card is recognized by the hardware manager. The dvd burners installed are the Plextor 810SA (sata) and the Memorex dvd burner(model 32023220). I have placed the music cd in both, with the same result, no sound can be heard. The speakers I am using are the JBL Creature (which works OK on my other pc).
Just installed a Creative X-FI titanium and worked perfectly in Vista 64 bit. I had to use the PCIE x4 slot as the X1 slot would not fit on the motherboard due to the heat sinks. It really did make a huge difference in the sound quality from the on board sound.
