I have been having this problem, which is that sometimes, my sound is working, and sometimes it is not. It usually starts working after my PC has been off for a long period of time (for example, when I wake up). Oh, and if this helps, my soundcard is a Realtek HD card.

View 4 Replies View Relatedmy computer is a hp pavilion a1230n and when i upgraded it to windows vista, the sound card suddenly stopped working! i looked around, and my sound card doesn't seem to have any drivers for windows vista. i looked at the model, and i think this is it :integrated ati radeon xpress 200. my device manager says no device has been installed, but it's there because it was working with windows xp. i was wondering if there's any way i could update it or something.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI bought a laptop last year that came with Vista Home Premium 32 bit...I am not at all computer savvy, but bought some recording software called Audiogram that is supposed to be the equivalent of Garage Band that comes on a Mac. However, I have never been able to make the recording program work! It acknowledges there could be some problems with Vista, but ultimately it should work. The latest message I get when I open the recording software is "The currently installed soundcard driver does not support Direct Sound Input. Recording audio is not possible." What do I do? I can't return the recording oftware because I registered it, plus it's been months that I've been reading/downloading updates thinking I could get it to work. I've been told by several people that vista has soundcard problems.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have a GA-73PVM-S2H motherboard with onboard Realtek HD Audio. I have a 2.1 speaker set up which has two small front speakers and one subwoofer. Until last night I had a Guitarport which is a kinda external sound card which i use for playing the guitar (its pretty cool). Anyway, i took this out and plugged the speaker lead back into my PC but since then i cannot get any sound out of the speakers. When i look at the Realtek Panel and get it to look like my set up, when i do the test thing on the speakers NO sound comes out at all. However, when i set it up to have REAR speakers i can hear the test sound but it comes out of the front speakers and when i play an MP3 i can hear the music REALLY QUIET as if it is the sound that would normally be coming out of the rear speakers which i do not have. It sounded to me like i had connected the speakers up incorrectly but there is only one lead and it is definately in the right 'hole' and i tried it in all the other 'holes' too but still not working.

I have 2 front and 2 rear speakers that worked great with my old computer (also with onboard realtek sound card) so I guess the speakers are not the problem. Let me tell you exactely how the sound sounds like.
I put Madonna, Fever song (which is a good one..)(MP3) and I bearly hear her voice... when her background vocals start screaming I can hear them bettter the the main vocal. It's like the front speakers and the rare swithced, but they didn't - from the Realtewk Audio Manager when I test the sound everything is ok.. I mean the front sound comes from the front speakers and the rare sound from the rare ones. I also tried to change the speaker configuration from 5.1 speakers to stereo and to quadraphonic but the sound is the same - only background voices!
In my status bar, pop ups continued to pop up, stating that i just unplugged a device from the driver, then it would tell me i plugged it back in, all the time doing nothing remotely close to these insane accusations, i continued without really worrying about it. until i actually lost my sound, and it went crazy with those pop ups. so i uninstalled the driver, reboot, installed new driver from realtek, and it worked for like 4 hours, then no sound again. uninstalled driver, reboot, install, reboot, no sound, and i am apparently continuously unplugging the jack like a madman. so, another uninstall, reboot, but this time i install the driver from the cd i got with my pc (dell inspiron 530s-120b)......................
View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm getting no sound out of my speakers(2.1), when I plug them into the green jack on the rear panel it says that I have plugged in the pink and black jacks, but neither of those are plugged in. I've spent hours on the phone with HP and looking on the internet but i can't find any solutions. I've updated every possible driver. Every now and then I can somehow get sound by messing with settings and restarting or doing a power drain or a million other things, but as soon as I restart the computer they aren't working again, and the same solution never seems to work twice. Also, when the sound does work, it still says the black and pink are plugged in.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a HP pc with onboard sound - analog and coax digital out. I'm using neither, I have a USB DAC connected which is working just fine. However, on a lark the other day, I went into the audio manager and "disabled" the Realtek digital sound option (which I wasn't using anyway at this point, but it was fully available to be configured and I had experimented with it before - it worked fine!). I fully expected the choice to just "grey out" when I selected disable. In fact, it totally vanished from the panel. Never to return. I tried a system restore but that didn't bring it back. I reinstalled the driver, no luck. This isn't affecting my use of the system (it's a music server - iTunes serving my music to the DAC and out to my audio system), but it's very annoying to have something "disappear" and not easily undone. And if I swap the system for some other household use, I'll want the digital sound back. The analog sound output option was not affected by any of this.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI was cleaning my computer and accidently uninstalled my realtek audio drive. I immediately re downloaded and installed it but now my sound doesnt work. My sound icon isnt X'd out or anything, I'm just not getting sound. I'm sorry if I'm not providing enough information, ummm... lets see if I can give more info... I think it might have something to do with the fact that I'm using an HD TV screen and my sound comes through that... but I dontknow how to fix it.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI just upgraded to Vista U x64 and am having sound problems. I have a prelude x-fi sound card but the sound coming out of it is extremely low. I have maxed out every thing I can max (control panel sound, creative panel) and the sound level is whisper quiet. I have also upgraded all my drivers except the prelude's, I would but their website isn't offering those drivers at the moment. But the drivers supplied with the card are vista certified so I should get something. But my mobo, etc is all updated. I have been searching for a solution for two days to no avail.

in windows XP there was Refresh Thumbnails option but i can't find any similar one at Vista
at 32-bit version every thing works ok but at 64-bit version i have a few problems.
I recently had my computer fixed, and when I got it back, Internet explorer works, though firefox somehow can't connect.
Also (Not sure if it's relevent, but) i tried to install Java, but it says It couldnt download with the current connection settings. I tried allowing firefox through my windows firewall, but it's still not working. I'm pretty sure I don't have any other firewalls.
Sound functions but reciever is only detecting 2 channel output. Apon browsing RealTekHD audio properites I discovered that the only options for Digital Output(RCA) were all 2-Channel under "Default Format" tab. However my front pannel Audio Output Jack(HD Audio 2nd Output) has an extra third tab labeled "Speaker Configuration" and has options for up to 7.1 surround but these settings do not impact my Digital Output(RCA) channel. Now my reciever does have a multi-channel input that could take advantage of the Analog Outputs in the rear but the distance is to great and multiple wires are expensive.

During that time, I have noticed two things I could do on my older computer that had XP but can't do on Vista. (a) I cannot listen to anything I record into my computer while recording it. I have to record, then listen back. (b) I cannot record anything that is playing on my computer.
I read somewhere about copyright issues or something, but I work in the radio business, so I use my laptop for audio recording all the time. When you are recording an hour or longer broadcast for re-airing or for archive purposes, it really sucks if the audio doesn't record right, something you fix if you were able to here it during recording.
I just recently formatted and reinstalled Vista because i changed my motherbored and Processor so i felt like a new start. After waiting for all the Windows updates to finish i turned on some music and my Sound was messed up, i have sound it just dosn't seem to work right.On some ill be able to hear everything but the singer and on others and hear only the singer. This also effects games, i turn on my scarface seeing it was closest game near me and installed it, on that i can't hear Scarfaces voice, or the cars around me but i can hear other people speak. Does anyone know whats wrong with my sound? I use the soundcard that is built onto my motherbored because i have never had need of a Sound card in the past. my new motherbored is an MSI motherbored and my processor is Intel core 2 duo.
View 9 Replies View Relatedhey, i upgraded my graphics card (ATI HD3850) on my computer and it works fine but i no longer have sound on my computer. i tryed updating the drivers and changing the settings and still no sound. when i take out the graphics card i have sound again. i asked bestbuy and they said that i shorted out something on the motherboard, i told them that when i take the card back out i have sound again and they were clueless about what to do. nobody that i've talked to has ever heard of this happening. they said it seems like a driver conflict and to upgrade the drivers, but that didn't work. does anyone have any ideas?

IT SOUNDS LIKE CRAP!It's like if I had 10$ speakers with no sound card. I'm using optical with the latest Auzentech drivers with Creative alchemy and Ive set my speakers to 5.1. When I change settings in the Auzentech control panel, it doesn't get any better. I can enable X-Fi Crystalizer, change the equalizer to vocals, rock, anything, it doesn't make any difference.

Now on the back the out ports work for all the wires but when I try to plug into the mic one on the back it doesn't. View 4 Replies View RelatedI've just done a mild overclock on my q9550 and raised the FSB to 383 giving me a clock speed of 3.2 Multipliers are 6.0 and 8.5 respectively (I'm leaving speedstep on ATM) Mobo is a P5Q PRO. With the FSB strap set to auto, my DDR2 800 RAM is now being reported as Dual DDR2 766 (383mhz) which doesn't sound right to me. I don't seem to be able to manually select 800MHz. The FSBRAM ratio is now 1:1 With the CPU voltage set to AUTO, according to CPU-Z it's now maxing 1.296, would it be safer to lower this and remain stable? The only stress testing I've done so far is 2x10 passes of IBT @ maximum stress with no errors plus a bit of Far Cry 2 and STALKER. (I primarily wanted to check the CPU temp) I'll do more rigirous testing when i'm sure I've got it all set up properly. What is concerning me is that my LOAD temps aren't what I'd expected with the NH-U12P cooler:

I have Vista Ultimate 64bit, with Realtek onboard sound on my mother board. However, my Quadraphonic speakers don't seem to be working as I can only get sound to come out of my front two speakers when in WMP etc. when I go into control panel, I can get sound coming out of all 4 speakers, that silly test sound.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have an Hewlett Packard SR5401UK pc running Vista 32-bit it has onboard graphics & sound but I've just installed an NVIDIA 8800gs graphics card, the card works fine but for some reason the sound has disappeared!! i've just updated the realtek drivers but still have the problem!! it worked fine before installing the g.card , whats even more strange is that when i plug in my headphones i can hear sound but nothing at all through the speakers!!
When i installed the 8800gs it disabled the onboard g.card automatically itself i was wondering if it has done the same with the sound? but if it had i wouldnt be able to hear sound through the headphones right? device manager says the sound is working fine!
I've recently finished a new build, and I got a set of Bose Companion 3's for my setup. and I must say, they are by FAR the best PC speakers I've ever owned Hands Down.. MUCH better than the Logitech 5.1 I had. But thats why Bose is the best..I have the eVGA 750i Mobo and it's supposed to have a pretty Decent onboard sound card.. but then again, it's onboard so how good can it really be.? I've asked in a few other places what I should get and I was hoping for some ideas. I don't need anything amazing.
I for sure don't need the best like a "Auzen X-FI Prelude 7.1" I kno they rock but I'm not about to spend $200 on a sound card. Those are for the Music Enthusiasts. I personally think that it sounds pretty amazing right now. so some might say why even get a card if "I" think they sound great. some others might not, but i think they do. but I hear it's best to upgrade for the quality will be much better. and this EAX thing with gaming and what not. I was told that makes gaming sound.
This is a Vista issue because the unit works fine on an XP machine. Vista seem to recognize it and install the drivers when it's plugged in, including the message that the device has installed successfully. The only thing I can think of is that the drivers are bad. I've remove the device from device manager and nothing seems to help
