Well I wanted to run the Sims 2, Pets,Seasons and Open for Business on Vista 32, can I?

how to run the sims 2 on vista? I have installed it but there is an "compatibility problem" error and I can't play the game. I have downloaded a patch to it but did not help. Only splash screen is on the screen and then system freezes strangely, I can't run task manger nor reebot my computer even turn it off from the start menu, i can only reset it by pressing the button on the tower

View 7 Replies View RelatedI have The Sims 2, I always use to play it, but my other laptop broke and I got this one and I tried installing the sims 2! But it stops on disc 1, 18%! Unless I eject and click retry it loads up 1% I kept doing that once and when it finally hit 100% it did nothing and went off for some reason!
View 8 Replies View RelatedI had a Windows XP, with the xp theme, pointers, backgrounds, screen savers etc, and i had the sims 2 installed on it, it was working good, but a bit slow, i sent my computer to get formatted, when i got my pc again, some changes were on it, it changed to vista screen savers, wallpapers, pointers and theme, but when i opened Start and chose run and typed DXDIAG, i still see windows xp pro, and my system became Black xp and the formatter installed Vista Inspirat 2 1.0, when i installed the sims 2 again, it reaches 1% and (an error occurred while copying the file (***/***/***) from the media.
press retry to retry copying the file or cancel to cancel the installation) When I press retry, the same window with the error appears again, again, again and again. When I press cancel the installation cancels. What should I do? Should i uninstall the vista inspirat, or the sims 2 wont work on my pc?
I used to have it on my computer.
But last time I tried to play it didn't work.
It said that I have to re-install it. But when I put the disc in it say that it cant find the location folder.
So I tried to un-install, but it say I cant do that.
I looked through previous threads here, and found one about how to delete it from the start menu -> regedit etc.
Follewed the intstructions, but I dont have a EA game folder, Maxis folder or any other folder for the game.
Alright, so I know I have all the updated drivers for my audio and video.I know Sims 2 can work on my laptop. I have a Dell Inspiron 1525 laptop. I have an Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU T5800 @ 2.00GHz 2.00 Ghz 3GB RAM. 32 Bit OS. (anything else you need to know?)
I'll open Sims 2, loads fast. I click on a neighborhood, and the trees are white and have words on them, like coding. I go to make a family, the brick isn't showing up either. It's white with the words too. Things work for a few seconds, then a message pops up and says "Application has crashed. The application will now terminate." I click OK, and it closes. I've tried installing and uninstalling. I've downloaded and installed the patches, nothing seems to work.
We can not play either Sims 1 or 2 on our new Dell PC with Home Vista.

View 5 Replies View Relatedthis is an old issue some ppl have had, unfortunately none of the answers received have helped me with my current issue...i upgraded my PC, and with that i went from Vista 32bit to Vista 64bit, and re-installed all the old games i had on my old machine onto the new one. i installed the main game for Sims2 (no expansions installed yet) and tried to run it and nothing happens. i ran it in compatibilty mode and nothing happens. i ran it in both comp. mode and as admin and nothing happens. i had no problem playing it on my old machine, and this one is 100x better, but Sims simply wont start. every other game i tried, from GTA to Crisis to CoH to AoC works fine, only Sims wont even start. i tried the patch at the Sims site and it says my Sims game is up to date. i cant believe that going from 32bit to 64bit would make such a difference.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI bought sims 2 to play on my Toshiba laptop, which runs with Vista, and it worked fine for aaaages, but then one day when i took my sim lady downtown, it froze while loading the downtown screen, and when i restarted and re-opened that family, it wouldnt work and was constantly frozen. since then it crashed everytime i tried starting sims or saving a family id made. it doesnt even stay on long enough to move a family into a house. I dont get an error message, it just stops loading or freezes. When i ctrl alt and del it says the programme is not responding. I bought sims seasons, and im still having the same problem. i have ran numerous virus checks and my laptop is fine. ive also uninstalled and reinstalled many times. Ive also tried changing game compatability without success. Ive gone as far as going and buying a new sims 2!

I just purchased a brand new Dell laptop with Vista, and whenever I try to create a new family, it will freeze. It will also freeze/stop loading when
-I try and load some households
-I go downtown
And sometimes, I will completely load a household, but the screen (minus the control panel) will be black, and the music will be playing, but nothing will show up. I have already uninstalled and reinstalled many times, and this still happens. I played these games on my old computer and this never happened.
my Sims 2 Double Deluxe used to work... For about 2 months. But, about 10 minutes ago, I tried to play again. An error came up."Unable to retrieve a DirectX 9 adaptable graphics card!!" or whatnot. But the thing is the game works fine at certain times. I can go in to the neighborhood build houses even play the game for hours on end certain days. and then it just stops working altogether. there are no problems with my harddrive space as i have 137 gigs left, and i really dont think that the game would really need more space. and i know it doesn't. I'm running vista home basic, and the really frustration part is i know quite a bit of info on this computer. its a dell inspiron 1525 laptop i have played many games on it and they all work fine. but when i try to load a game that i had already previously saved it works and then other times when i go into it all the building tools launch but the screen for the actual house stays black and then i have to start the task manager to end the game. i have tried running it as an administrator and i still have the same problem. i had no problems with installing the game at all. i am almost positive it is my video card and after i post this im going to test it on can you run it?
i've read alot of similiar problems but none of them said that the game actually worked for a while. the game works for hours on certain days ( as i have said before) and then some days it doesnt work at all. I don't understand why it would work one day and not the next. i have the real version of the sims 2 double delux its not a hack so that isnt the problem. I am running on my system ( more in depth than i had previously said )
I have Windows Vista Premuim Home edition SP2. Where can I find the folder that contains all the programs that are supposed to start when Windows boots? I want to add a program to the list so it loads at bootup. Wiyhin the program (Secunia), I checked off the box that should enable the program to do this - but it isn't working. Therefore, I can just put a copy of the executable in the Startup folder (if I could find it).

Little did i realize that when i upgraded, i also changed over the whole OS. Now i have nothing i can do! Im soooo damn stupid!!!! I have no CD and dell refuses to send me one. My PC recovery tool doesnt work since i updated the os. And i dont have a DVD that i can burn the info to tongiht and cant get to a store to get one for a week or so(parents are out of town and im 16) I have a legally bought (from dell with my computer) key code for windows home premium. View 9 Replies View RelatedWhen i had XP on my computer everything was working fine. I did an overlay of Vista and now any audio device with a jack won't work.. My USB headphones do... I have gone through all the playback settings, searched through all of control panel to do with sound. I have downloaded the necessary realtek drivers (High Definition Audio Device) and nothing. I have also tried plugging the jack in the front instead of the back. The speakers work on any XP machine... just having troubles with my vista machine.

Whenever I shut down and restart, my wallpaper is gone. It's a simple JPG downloaded from the internet. I keep a few dozen in a folder and change them as the whim hits. Any idea why it doesn't remain in place a after a reboot?

Here is my issue, my machine is running vista x64 ultimate and for the last few weeks, I have not been able to get my 360 to connect to my pc. When i actually turn the 360 on, I get a notification in the taskbar and when i go through the steps to set up my extender, it always fails at connecting to extender. At the same time, the 360 just sits at the contacting screen with the white dots and eventually fails. I'm only using the windows firewall, which i've disabled and still have had no luck. I've also connected the 360 directly to my pc to no avail with 3 different ethernet cables and i'm pretty sure its not the network or my 360 itself because my xp media center works just fine. At this point, I've narrowed it down to my vista machine, but i'm at a loss.

System appears stable till I try to do anything as an administrator. I click on something to change something and system locks up. will only work after a hard restart till I click on something again, Where do I need to start looking for problem, system was stable with 2x the memory 4 gigs in XP 32 and 64 even thru the vista betas, I could only reinstall with 2 gigs of memory all ecc and registered all are matched. View 9 Replies View RelatedThis should not be this difficult! However, 3 weeks later and I'm still not connecting. It seems I've tried about every suggestion I can find. I will attempt to recapitulate in brief but I'm sure I have forgotten things I've tried. I have 2 and printer to a router. One wireless one direct. Another wireless xp occasionally. Works great no problem. I am trying to get just one to connect to the Vista. The Vista has been tried both wireless and cable to router.
Installed the XP responder patch. Created users with identical names and passwords. Configured NetBios on Vista. Turned off and on TCP layer 6. Re-setup networking, same workgroup. Enabled sharing, etc. Only windows firewall, tried both off and on. There is likely more but I have forgotten now. They are visible on each others full maps and they ping each other fine. On the XP when I select the Vista pc I get not accessible, no permission. On Vista I cannot see the XP except in full map view. Maybe it's something simple but I am stumped.
I had this problem since I upgraded to Vista. All softwares I used before in Windows XP worked without any problem, but most of them now support Vista and they are giving me tons of problems everyday.

However, my Quadraphonic speakers don't seem to be working as I can only get sound to come out of my front two speakers when in WMP etc. when I go into control panel, I can get sound coming out of all 4 speakers, that silly test sound.

I have a Vista repair disk and I ran the repair but I still have the sector errors that prevent going to the previous restore point.
View 8 Replies View RelatedSo this, has been by life for the past little while. I have a Gateway M520 laptop, wich had XP on it, and i upgraded to vista. When i did that, I lost my sound. I have spent hours on the net, on the manufacturers websites, in random forums, Only to not find an awnser, and be left without sound. Nothing is muted, All drivers are supposedly up to date, tried uninstalling/re-installing, Tried letting windows update do it.............no luck. Seriously about ready to take a slegehammer to my laptop, lol.
