Sims 2 Crashing Can Not Work
Nov 23, 2008Alright, so I know I have all the updated drivers for my audio and video.I know Sims 2 can work on my laptop. I have a Dell Inspiron 1525 laptop. I have an Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU T5800 @ 2.00GHz 2.00 Ghz 3GB RAM. 32 Bit OS. (anything else you need to know?)
I'll open Sims 2, loads fast. I click on a neighborhood, and the trees are white and have words on them, like coding. I go to make a family, the brick isn't showing up either. It's white with the words too. Things work for a few seconds, then a message pops up and says "Application has crashed. The application will now terminate." I click OK, and it closes. I've tried installing and uninstalling. I've downloaded and installed the patches, nothing seems to work.

Mar 23, 2008how to run the sims 2 on vista? I have installed it but there is an "compatibility problem" error and I can't play the game. I have downloaded a patch to it but did not help. Only splash screen is on the screen and then system freezes strangely, I can't run task manger nor reebot my computer even turn it off from the start menu, i can only reset it by pressing the button on the tower

Jul 18, 2009I have The Sims 2, I always use to play it, but my other laptop broke and I got this one and I tried installing the sims 2! But it stops on disc 1, 18%! Unless I eject and click retry it loads up 1% I kept doing that once and when it finally hit 100% it did nothing and went off for some reason!

Dec 12, 2008I had a Windows XP, with the xp theme, pointers, backgrounds, screen savers etc, and i had the sims 2 installed on it, it was working good, but a bit slow, i sent my computer to get formatted, when i got my pc again, some changes were on it, it changed to vista screen savers, wallpapers, pointers and theme, but when i opened Start and chose run and typed DXDIAG, i still see windows xp pro, and my system became Black xp and the formatter installed Vista Inspirat 2 1.0, when i installed the sims 2 again, it reaches 1% and (an error occurred while copying the file (***/***/***) from the media.

When I press cancel the installation cancels. What should I do? Should i uninstall the vista inspirat, or the sims 2 wont work on my pc?
How Do I Uninstall Or Reinstall The Sims?
May 15, 2010I used to have it on my computer.
But last time I tried to play it didn't work.
It said that I have to re-install it. But when I put the disc in it say that it cant find the location folder.
So I tried to un-install, but it say I cant do that.
I looked through previous threads here, and found one about how to delete it from the start menu -> regedit etc.
Follewed the intstructions, but I dont have a EA game folder, Maxis folder or any other folder for the game.

Feb 28, 2009this is an old issue some ppl have had, unfortunately none of the answers received have helped me with my current issue...i upgraded my PC, and with that i went from Vista 32bit to Vista 64bit, and re-installed all the old games i had on my old machine onto the new one. i installed the main game for Sims2 (no expansions installed yet) and tried to run it and nothing happens. i ran it in compatibilty mode and nothing happens. i ran it in both comp. mode and as admin and nothing happens. i had no problem playing it on my old machine, and this one is 100x better, but Sims simply wont start. every other game i tried, from GTA to Crisis to CoH to AoC works fine, only Sims wont even start. i tried the patch at the Sims site and it says my Sims game is up to date. i cant believe that going from 32bit to 64bit would make such a difference.

Mar 15, 2008I bought sims 2 to play on my Toshiba laptop, which runs with Vista, and it worked fine for aaaages, but then one day when i took my sim lady downtown, it froze while loading the downtown screen, and when i restarted and re-opened that family, it wouldnt work and was constantly frozen. since then it crashed everytime i tried starting sims or saving a family id made. it doesnt even stay on long enough to move a family into a house. I dont get an error message, it just stops loading or freezes. When i ctrl alt and del it says the programme is not responding. I bought sims seasons, and im still having the same problem. i have ran numerous virus checks and my laptop is fine. ive also uninstalled and reinstalled many times. Ive also tried changing game compatability without success. Ive gone as far as going and buying a new sims 2!

Apr 16, 2008I just purchased a brand new Dell laptop with Vista, and whenever I try to create a new family, it will freeze. It will also freeze/stop loading when
-I try and load some households
-I go downtown
And sometimes, I will completely load a household, but the screen (minus the control panel) will be black, and the music will be playing, but nothing will show up. I have already uninstalled and reinstalled many times, and this still happens. I played these games on my old computer and this never happened.

Sep 1, 2008i'm having troubles installing my sims one complete collection. i know it's possible, as i've searched other forums (such as sims help sites) but i can't figure out how to actually do it. a little background info, set up is fine until i get to the 7% marker, and the "textures" bit. i get the following message. what does this mean and how can i fix/get around it, if at all? i have windows vista home basic, an emachine that's not even four months old (from date of purchase) i've got plenty of RAM (2GB) and space (101GB) and i'm fully updated on all of my drivers.

Feb 20, 2009I'm having some major problems with the sims 2. and it seems that every person with vista is having the same problem. crashes... But the thing is the game works fine at certain times. I can go in to the neighborhood build houses even play the game for hours on end certain days. and then it just stops working altogether. there are no problems with my harddrive space as i have 137 gigs left, and i really dont think that the game would really need more space. and i know it doesn't. I'm running vista home basic, and the really frustration part is i know quite a bit of info on this computer. its a dell inspiron 1525 laptop i have played many games on it and they all work fine. but when i try to load a game that i had already previously saved it works and then other times when i go into it all the building tools launch but the screen for the actual house stays black and then i have to start the task manager to end the game. i have tried running it as an administrator and i still have the same problem. i had no problems with installing the game at all. i am almost positive it is my video card and after i post this im going to test it on can you run it?
i've read alot of similiar problems but none of them said that the game actually worked for a while. the game works for hours on certain days ( as i have said before) and then some days it doesnt work at all. I don't understand why it would work one day and not the next. i have the real version of the sims 2 double delux its not a hack so that isnt the problem. I am running on my system ( more in depth than i had previously said )
Crashing Every Day!

just put together this computer and it ran good for the first few days, now it's to the point where it won't even boot up. It first crashed on me when loading up a game, then it crashed during the middle of updating. It crashes in start up sometimes and it freezes when I'm trying to run the memory diagnostics tool. The blue screen keeps giving me this message "Driver irql not less or equal" and I have no idea what's wrong, can anyone help? Sorry if this is kinda blunt I'm typing this on my phone bc now i don't have a computer to work from.

NWN Keeps Crashing On Load-up
Dec 11, 2009I have neverwinter nights loaded on my pc with both expansion packs.
it also has a hard update (i.e. manually downloaded .exe file) as teh self updater wouldn't find it, but now it keeps crashing on loadup where it shows developer logos.
Crashing After Update
Nov 15, 2009I just updated my windows Vista and when I then tried starting my computer afterwards it went into repair-mode. I tried to repair the flaws, but apparently it couldn't fix it all. It still goes directly to an entirely black screen with only my cursor marker on it, when I was supposed to write my password. I've already tried to start it in every safe-mode available? I installed it yesterday (15/11), as soon as i could.

Aug 4, 2008My Vista works fine in safe mode. I uninstalled almost every program I ever installed, I wrote down all of the processes that were running in safe mode and then rebooted and killed each process one by one, replicating the crash inciting event...opening any folder, after killing each process until I was down to the processes that were running in safe mode...and the ones that kept restarting themselves and I can't get the problem fixed.
I am using an HP Pavilion dv9000 running the pre-installed Vista Home Premium. The HP rebuild disk boots up into a repair screen, says it is repairing and if it works it will restart normally, which it does but I still have the same problem. I have run every anti virus/anti virus I could get my hands on (none of which seem to be getting rid of this Virtumonde piece of %*&, which is the least of my worries at this point unless it is causing the crashes).
I am about ready to take my laptop to the shooting range with me or upgrade to Windows XP because I have honestly not seen a single value added by Vista. If anyone has any ideas I would gratefully listen. If not, I think I am shooting this hard drive (really) and restarting with XP or some flavor of **ix and running XP in VMware.
64 Upgraded Crashing
Sep 16, 2009I bought my pc about a year and half ago. Had an x86 Vista Ultimate edition on it and it all worked fine. 4 GB RAM and a good CPU made it run smooth. I then decided to upgrade my RAM to 8 GB and also upgraded my Windows with it to an x64 Vista Ultimate. Ever since I upgraded, my pc has been crashing like mad. When I play games my pc crashes constantly in a timeframe ranging from 20mins to 2 hours.
I freezes completely and it ends up in me having to force hard reset my pc. I don't know what the problem is atm and in all fairness it's driving me mad. Sometimes I boot my pc, I check mails and whoops, frozen and have to reboot. Is it possible that there's a compatibility problem with the RAM and my x64 Vista?

Recycle Bin Crashing

Mar 25, 2009Whenever I attempt to sign onto AOL through their software, the entire system crashes. Spyware and Antivirus scans came back negative. I tried using different versions of the AOL software but the crashing still occurred. I did a restore back to a time before the crashes started, did not work. Updated all my drivers, still no success. Everything else works just fine. I can connect to the Internet, surf with IE, download files, no problem.
I finally deleted my broadband connection, deleted the network/lan card using device manager. Restarted the computer, Vista recognizes the Lan card and automatically installs the drivers. I created a brand new connection in the Network center and tried to sign onto AOL; it finally works! Here's the kicker, though. I restart the computer just to make sure everything works and guess what? When I try to sign onto AOL, the computer crashes!
I did not make one single change between the time I successfully logged onto AOL till the time I restarted and it began crashing again. It certainly appears to be something wrong on the networking end of things, I just don't know what. It looks like the AOL software is accessing some network file/setting that then sets off the crash. Is it the card itself, the drivers, some Vista update that didn't install correctly. I am at my wits end. Short of a restore back to the factory install point, I don't know what to do.
64 Crashing - Security?
May 15, 2008I have Vista Ultimate 64bit. I have all the updates including SP1 downloaded from Microsoft site. Up until yesterday everything has been working fine for the past month since I built a new system. Now all of a sudden my computer is crashing on me. No BSOD. Just shuts down and reboots. Last night this occured 5 times in the space of 4 hours..
Looking in my events log all I can see occuring at the times of the crashes is this information: Code integrity determined that the image hash of a file is not valid. The file could be corrupt due to unauthorized modification or the invalid hash could indicate a potential disk device error.

I don't use windows firewall as I use the firewall built into Trend Micro Internet Security 2008. Checking though that programs logs shows nothing happening at the time of the crashes. After googling this and looking on Microsoft's site I am stumped at what I can do to resolve this. I do have windows updates on automatic and I recall an update occuring 2 days ago.
DVD Rom With Roxio Crashing
May 18, 2008I have a Samsung DVD Rom which I have put into my new PC from my old one. It's only about 3 years old and worked fine in my old PC. Vista found the driver necessary and installed it. Worked fine. Last night I tried to use Roxio to copy a cd which ended up with Roxio crashing. I had to reboot. Once rebooted, Vista told me it was installing a device driver for a Semwung DVD-ROM$SD-616E$ATA device. This has left me scratching my head as to why my Samsung is now a Semwung! Any ideas? Also, I have noticed over the last couple of days that someone/thing keeps changing my homepage. I've run Spybot and my antivirus scanner and had 5 tracking cookies and have got rid of them. Is there any way I can find out what keeps changing my homepage? Once whatever it is tries to change my homepage and I try to use Explorer to surf the web, I get directed to a Norton page telling me something's tried to change my homepage but won't tell me what or what to. I don't think my current problems are connected in any way
