How to make all the folders into medium sized icons. i mean i don't want windows to remember folder settings separately. and i have tried removing this (remember each folder view setting) like in XP but it didnt help. and also if i reset everything in >views reset folder. all icons turns into detailed view but i want them to be medium sized.. is there any possibility to turn all into medium sized icons??

View 6 Replies View RelatedWindows Mail's export only works to the local hard drive (heaven knows why). vereything works fine up to that point. Then the last step - copying the export from the hard drive to a removable medium fails. Eg I put the export into a folder on the desktop, but it won't copy to a USB flash stick: it gets started and then hangs - suddenly saying it will take 20+ hours to complete. There is no conceivable space issue. How can I do this last step, which is the key step? Have MS put in a spoiler?

I cant do a system restore as the problem has been on the system for a while now.
My icons are perfectly fine, there are no problems. However, I have these super cute PINK folder icons that I am dying to use instead of the way *yawning* boring blue icons.
Now I imagine there is way to change these icons, or new ones would not be available for use. I feel about my computer the way I feel about my home. It is a reflection of me, and I am not a "default" or "standard" person .
Even if it is complicated I want to know how. Please, Please help me. I don't want to die of computer bordom.
Since I built my new PC and loaded Vista64 in Feb/09 about 2 times per mth my desk top icons/folders freeze up and I have to re-boot my PC to get them to open again. Is there a fix for this or is it inherent due to web sites I visit/spyware?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to convert a custom-sized InDesign file to .XPS. When I choose the XPS Document Writer, it gives me the option of choosing a paper size. I choose A3 and the document preview showed it fit. But when I actually print the document, it creates a letter-sized .XPS. I've changed the specifications for the XPS Document writer to print to A3, but it still won't print a copy of the entire original document. I got it to work once before weeks ago, but now I can't remember how.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have an ICH9R board and intel matrix storage. I previously had a 1TB drive with 250GB free (not partitioned). I added a second 250GB hard drive. Is it possible to create a raid1 volume (end of 1TB drive+full 250GB drive) without loosing all my data on the other 750GB of the drive? I don't see how to do it in the matrix storage console. I know it's possible to do this with software raid but vista doesn't support software raid-1. If it's not possible, can I backup my data, create a 250GB raid1 array in the BIOS, and create an other 750GB partition during vista setup for less critical files?

There are icons that I cannot remove from the desktop toolbar such as the Network & Control Panel icons they won’t leave the toolbar, and I can’t seem to kill the IE icon off for good, either.

Several days ago I deleted the 'powershell' folder, and, underneath that folder, was surprised to find a dead copy of the 'powershell' folder. The deleted 'powershell' folder was in the recycle bin, and an undeleted dead copy on the desktop. This dead copy cannot be accessed with selection, left-click, or right-click operations - so the 'Properties' info cannot be displayed.........

Well, my computer crashed out and I had to get a new hard drive. I tried to follow the instructions from the previously solved thread, but I can not find the "desktop.ini". I've been using Windows Vista Premium for over a year now. So far I've no problems with it yet. However, just recently, I noticed that the icons for the computer and recycle bin were gone. Futhermore, the icon for some of the folders on my computer were either blank or a icon of the computer. Some files (ranging from the .dll to .exe) were changed to the computer icon as well. The icons for the floppy drive and my usb also disappeared and are displayed by the icon that represents file that windows does not recognise. How I can restore these icons? I have tried a system restore back a week when they were all still good but that did not make a difference.

View 8 Replies View RelatedSo I just traded out my year old Gateway laptop (which stopped working) for a new Dell Inspiron. I've never been particularly impressed with Dell but the Tech Guy at Best Buy assured me the quality of their laptops had improved. Anyway, it came with Windows Vista Home Premium. Since it was a Dell it came loaded with a stardock with mac-like icons instead of desktop icons. I like it so I customized it with the icons for the programs I use most, stared typing up notes for medical school with MS Word, and started downloading music files.
So the other day I notice strangely that the dock had reverted back to the original icons that were present when I first got the computer. Then I noticed all of the files downloaded/saved to the harddrive had disappeared. So I start anew adding files and replacing most of the old ones. Then suddenly yesterday the dock changes again back to how it was...customized and the files that I originally had reappeared but now the files I saved when it changed the first time are gone. So what is going on? Is this some kind of glitch in the OS? Is there something wrong with the actual computer? how get my files back?

Each account had a different set of folders. In Windows Mail, it seems everything is being downloaded into one Inbox. Can I re-create the separate folders for each email account in WinMail?

before this i try to install vista on my machine. and for sure in that time we need to create user (adminstrator) before we start using the vista. after that, i try to keep an image for my vista because if anything happen, it will be more easier to me. then, i try to image on my machine again. but, there already have i user which mean the administrator that i create during the 1st installation. so, when i do the image, i need to put the different user name because the user name that i try to create already exist. so that will create 2 different user when imaging is done. is there any way how to delete the 1st user? so when imaging is done, it will only 1 user (new user) and the windows will be automatically show the desktop. (i know how to delete from control panel>user account). actually this is for my client.
