SP1 Will Not Install And Install Failed With Error 80004005
Apr 25, 2008I've tried numerous times to Install Vista Sp1, but without success. The install appers to go well, reaching 100% at stage 3, but then the screen reports the SP did not successfully install, and proceeds to roll back. On Checking the message in Windows Update, the install failed with error 80004005. I've raised the issue directly with MS, but the advice to install the SP in Safe mode has not helped. I've also trawled various forums and cannot find any reference to the specific error code.
I own a Sony Vaio VGN-FZ1. A number of forums seem to suggest it might be a hardware issue, and I have tried disabling / uninstalling various devices to
see if this helps, but this also has not got me any further. Has anyone else experienced this? Does anyone know what this error code means? Is there a way to force the SP to install despite this error code (it does get to 100% at stage 3 after all, so maybe it does install, but one of the packages check routines is picking up an error which doesn't really exist???)
Install Both XP And Failed

Drive D files are intact but I do not know how to load Vista on that drive without wiping out the existing files. Looking for the brains I don't have...

Mar 26, 2008Self explanatory. So bad I couldn't even boot in safe mode, or use the ACER recovery feature. It also destroyed every restore point, so no going back. Now I have no OS on my laptop and have to pay for a "Recovery disk" because Microsuck is too gutless to actually allow companies (like ACER) to send a physical Vista install disk with their computers. Needless to say I'm a little steamed.

Aug 12, 2008I have had no trouble instaling it in the past. But all of a sudden one day I chose to freshly install vista. So using the standard installation procedures and when I went to install my netgear usb wireless adapter Which used to work failed to install. I thought it was the adapter so I upgraded to a very nice d-link usb adapter...and that too failed to install. So I installed a fresh copy of so on he same drive and reformatted it and that worked just fine.
So I tried reinstalling vista and of course it didn't work. So now I'm really confused and typing this on the only available Internet device which happens to be an iPod touch LOL. Does anyone have an idea as to what is going wrong? Btw I have an oem copy of vista ultimate x64 pre sp1. The netgear adapter was the wusb111 and the d-link adapter is the dwa 160.

Nov 16, 2009Then she attempted to un-install Norton 360 and install Norton 2010. Since then, she has the limited connectivity problem. She's un-installed 2010 but 360 still appears in the add/remove programs. If you click on it, it says there's a missing path. With either wireless or a cable connection, it fails to get a proper IP address from the router. Another PC on the network still works fine. My theory is that some system file of Norton's is still in there somewhere trying to intercept network traffic and screwing things up. I've tried following trouble shooting guides for the general limited connectivity problem and none helped (I know the router works fine with Vista and everything has been re-booted and this has been going on for weeks).

Jun 29, 2008I did a new install with vista business. 'upgrade' . The reason for this was a new hard drive. I couldn't -then- see the point of installing xp then vista then start the long hard migration process. I was told of a work around, so I did. Now I'm getting 'activation' notices which when I try I get "this is an upgrade pack not a clean install" failed Now I have XP disks/codes here which are genuine -can I phone MS and would they allow me to quote a XP product key rather than having to go through the whole process again? Dec 2, 2009This started with Windows update, it wouldn't even download, just gave me an error. I tried Safe Mode and no good, then back to normal mode and it worked! I was happy. Sp2 started installing and got through stages 1 and 2 then rebooted, got through stage 3 up to 100%, paused for a few minutes then said the service pack failed to install and it started undoing everything. I've tried this a number of times over the past year since it was released and it has always failed. Just for disclosure's sake, I have OSX installed on another partition, but that was installed in June when the SP2 trouble started back in January, so it shouldn't be related.

Apr 28, 2008I have Windows Vista Home Premium edition. I just purchased a Sprint World Edition Blackberry 8830. I am trying to install the disk on my laptop and at the end of the install I get this message: "1. Failed to install ISKernal Files. Make sure you have appropriate privileges on this machine."
My machine is not networked. I am the only one who uses it. Sprint and Blackberry support do not have this error message and say it must be Microsoft. And of course I am a month beyond my 90-day free support.

problem I have is that I do not have vista installation dvd. I am currently studying abroad in Rome and will take more time than I have to receive the dvd in the mail. None of my friends here have one either, but they all have the same make and model computer that I do. Is it possible for one of them create a installation dvd that I could use? Or could they make a recovery disc that could as least get me to the system recovery options screen?

May 23, 2008I am running Vista on a Dell XPS 420. I came home to find both drives failed in a RAID 1 mirror. Dell gave me no help recovering data, but did send two new drives. I have installed Vista on one of the new drives without RAID. I wanted to see if I could recover any files from the failed drives, but I can't seem to get Vista to recognize either of the old drives that were in the failed RAID array. The failed drive does appear during boot up and still shows as part of a failed array. How can I get Vista to recognize the failed drive so that I can then attempt to run file recovery software on it?

Failed To Boot
Jul 6, 2008every time i start or reboot my pc, it always says fails to start. File: windows/system32/config/system status:0XC0000E9. i also did memory diag test and it says no prob on my pc. but evrytime i open my pc it always go throu to (safe mode, command prompt, windows start normally etc.) and click windows start normally to open my pc. it really botherd me a lot. i also try restore point and nothing happns. i also did reinstalling my vista but same problem appears. i cant find any solutions on the web regarding the 0XC0000e9.

Everything seems to have gone fine, apart from several updates which have failed.
Some of the failed updates are:
Windows Vista Service Pack 2 (KB948465)
Update for Windows Live Sign-In Assistant (KB967912)
Security Update For Windows Vista (KB967723)
Security Update For Windows Vista (KB970710)
In total there are 43 failed updates, the majority of which are listed as "Important". So, my question is how do I get these installed? I've followed the troubleshooting tips but can't find any help here. I've searched online, but nothing seems to help here either.
64 And 32 Dual Failed
Feb 3, 2010I already have a running vista 64bit on drive C: Earlier tonight I popped in vista 32bit hoping to install it on D: (separate physical drive) which had an Xp pro on it that i want to get rid off. When I chose to install the x86 vista on D: it all went smooth. the pc restarted and I saw the new title on the boot page. after that, as it was finishing up the installation, it asked me to "start" vista after the welcome page so i did, and there it happened.
suddenly the pc restarted and I would continuously from that point get a message on reboot saying "vista loader" and under it "fall back" and finally "boot failed!" I tried reloading the dvd and repairing but that didnt work. as a result the pc wont go in my original 64bit or the 32bit. finally, i had to overwrite the freshly installed 32bit with a fresh installation of the 64bit on drive D: which gave me access to my original 64bit on C: at least.
