I have an LG VX7000 cell phone and Verizon Wireless Mobile Office Kit VERKULG7000 (USB to cell phone cable and software and drivers for 98SE, 2000, ME and XP. I currently use my cell phone on occasion on my HP ZE5470US notebook computer running Windows XP Pro SP3. I have no trouble using the 3G connection or FAX/Modem connection with the cell connected to any USB port on the computer.
I just bought an HP DV9830US running Vista 64bit SP1. I plugged my cell phone to the cable and the cable into the USB port and Windows Vista can not configure the phone as a modem. This is a huge problem for me since I occasionally need connectivity when free WiFi or other internet/phone connection is not available.
I have been in contact with LG tech support and they say that the cell phone may not be compatable with Vista. LG suggested contacting Verizon Wireless. I contacted Verizon Wireless today and they said that they have had an incredible amount of issues with all of their hardware and software (especially music) related to Vista. Their tech and sales department were not really sure which direction to point me in. Of course, they wanted to sell a phone with internet connectivity built in, which does not help me one bit......
I'm finding that cell formatting (eg, dates) will no longer work in Excel 2000. Whether it is an existing spreadsheet or a new one, cell formatting does not work, and all dates entered are treated as text. This applies whether the cell formatting is done before or after the date is entered. It does appear to be a Vista/Excel 2000 conflict of some sort as it did not happen until after I got Vista. And I've just opened (from a Windows XP computer on the same network) some of the offending files, and the problem does not exist.
I purchased a digital update of Windows Vista Premium upgrade and the download won't load. I am useing a trial version of Windows XP 64-bit. I first used the digital locker a few times and it would stop at 99 percent and give a validation error. I figured it the locker was having a problem so i manual downloaded the three files through my internet browser. They downloaded fine without problems, but when I tried to run the Vista setup I ran into another error: 0x8007000D Windows was unable to create a required installation folder.
I have vista 32 and I just purchased a cell phone Samsung M8800 Pixon. I plug it into my USB port using the sync cable and it doesn't do anything, no found new hardware no nothing. The only thing it does is it will use the power from the USB port to charge the phone and it shows that on my phone. Why isnt my usb pot recognizing new hardware when I plug into it?
I tried to phone you today to invite you to a breakfast this Sunday 10:30 am at Ely's Restaurant. Seems like the number I have for you has been disconnected. Are you interested in joining us?
I got windows vista ultimate 64 bit as a free gift from microsoft a while back for doing the windows feedback panel program. I am having the "product key already in use" problem, and they tell me on the phone they want me to pay $60 to talk to someone for help
Edit: I just had to call back and talk to someone else who actually knew what they were doing and they activated it for me! So um.. if anyone has this problem, make sure you try twice
I have Vista 64bit with a Contacts folder which seems to be totaly impotent as far as exporting. According to the Vista Help it should be possible, but I do not have the Export button! Anyway, all I want to do is to synch my Vista contacts with the Contacts in my phone running Windows Mobile 6.1.
What Microsoft suggests is to buy Outlook, import the contacts into it from the Vista Contacts folder, and upload them into the phone. I tried it with trial Outlook and it works. But I don't need Outlook for anything else, and don't want to buy it. Is there a workaround?
When I dial a number, I have to include 1 and the area code, which I have set in the rules. I'm having a problem where the Vista phone dialer is dropping the last two numbers of the area code (i.e.818-555-5555 dials as 1-8-555-5555 instead of the correct way 1-818-555-5555.
My computer will be on, but not online, and my home phone will ring and after the second ring my computer modem starts reacting like a fax modem and starts ringing and then says your call did not go through please try again. What can I do to stop this from happening? My modem is just automatically reacting after the second ring and I don't want this. I am using Windows Vista Home Premium.
We purchased a Acer 7520-5185 that came with Vista. We are a Telecommunications company and all our phone software run on XP. They will not run on Vista. We contacted Acer, but they will not help us they say they only support the hardware with Vista. We need to get XP on our computer. We paid a guy $400 to do this and use our XP disk from old computer, but after about 2 hours all he did was load Parallels Workstation and this does not allow some of our USB ports to work nor does it allow our modem to work at all. Is there some way to load XP directly on our Hard Drive (get rid of vista) and get the drivers for all our hardware to work.
When ever i am on my laptop or playing my ps3 and my house phone rings i instantly lose my connection. Both of these things are connected via Router (Wirelessly). So today I decided to call comcast (I have Comcast High Speed Internet) so when i called them they said that I needed a booster and that they would send a technition to hook it up. But is this really what i need?, is there anything i can do besides getting a booster? And what would this booster do?
Under the phone dialing properties i have my local area code just the way it was in XP but when dialing, the prefix area code get "truncated" by vista. See the example below; When i dial 240-555-1234, the dialer tries to dial it as 1 2 555-1234, same thing for any other area code i attempt to dial.I've searched and it seems to be a known issue but haven't found any solution yet...has anyone been able to solve this?
I have certain client software for my phone system that will install in Vista but won't work. is there a way i can run it in a virtual xp session inside of vista?
When using Fax and Scan program in Vista Ultimate, the contact list (when selecting a new fax) does not show the fax numbers available, only email addresses. I recently added a new harddrive and reinstalled Ultimate, but no changes other than the hd swap were done, I remember prior to the change the fax numbers would show in my contact list, but now they do not.
Have had difficulty installing Sony Ericson software onto my PC. They have been no help so thought id post here and see if anyone had a similar prob witha different program. Install seems to go fine. Progress bar reaches 100 % but then reverses back down to zero. Have uninstalled the program. Deleted it and cleaned the registry with Regvac. Not all the Sony keys can be removed. Are there some as standard within the registry. Is this the problem? My system is fully updated with windows update

I can't get the drivers to install on vista for my new motorola cell phone, so I can import music to the phone. I already tried going to motorola's website and downloaded a newer version of the software, it still doesnt work.
The phone will not connect to the computer. Its a motorola v3m phone from verizon wireless. Any one else seen this problem? have a fix?
I have an issue with a custom TSP written in C++. It should be used by outlook to make a call. It works fine under windows xp, but under Vista it doesn't. I am not sure which is the problem because I am able to add it in the Advanced tab from Phone and Modem options and I am able to select it from the New Call dialog from Outlook to use it as a line. When I press Start call i receive an error "An internal error occurred in the automatic phone dialer. Close the dial phone box and then open it again". Also, using the dialer.exe application from microsoft I am unable to use it. The following error shows: "An internal error occured in Phone Dialer. Quit and restart Phone Dialer."

I have Vista Ultimate with the Fax/Scan feature. Does this mean I can scan a document and then fax through the program? Also, with regard to the phone line, if I am understanding the setup, I just run the line in to my fax modem then out to my phone? Vista will then dial a fax number and send it without the need for a dedicated phone line?
my computer is not holding it's internet connection, even when i refresh it just wont reconnect and i end up having to restart and then the connection is fine. I'm running Vista Home Premium, Defender, ZoneAlarm (free) and Avast (free). Broadband connection. is there anyway to secure the connection permanently (which it should be) Have i, a setting wrong? At all times my internet icon says i am fully connected?
I am having the worst problems connecting using a cable connection, which I need because as I am in Europe at the moment, many sites or private homes are not equipped with wireless. Now, when I connect with cable, everything seems to be working fine, the Toshiba connectivity doctor tells me I am connected, the diagnose program assures me that the problem has been resolved etc. etc. and yet whenever I try to connect (IE, Mozilla, Google, I have tried them all), I get an error screen. I have tried everything I could think of, checking my settings etc. Nothing works.
Let me emphasize that: 1) wireless connection works fine 2) it is a problem with my computer, not the host, since I have encountered the same problem everywhere (libraries with password protected access, private homes without password protected access etc.).
I recently got the Magicjack phone "box" that you plug into a USB port and you get phone service real cheap. The phone service works great except for the fact that it overheats my laptop and shuts it down.
I'm struggling to find a clear answer on this. Within our environment, we've been ordering Dell PCs for quite some time. I've been told that about midway through the ordering of Dell GX620 Optiplexes that the cores went from single to dual. In effect, I've been advised that these machines and, subsequently everything we've ordered since, are considered 64bit compatible because they have two 32bit cores. Does that sound accurate? What I truly need to know is whether or not any of our PCs (Dell 745, 755 and 760 E8400 Core 2 Duo for desktop; P8400 for laptop) have 64bit hardware. If two 32bit cores mean that they're 64bit compatible, is that the same as being true 64bit? And, last but not least, will 64bit compatible hardware (assuming it's different than 64bit hardware) run a 64bit OS like Windows 7?
I have a strange problem. I have AOL broadband and I'd like to connect to the internet without using the infamous bloated AOL software. I know how to do that using Vistas' "set up connection or network" wizard and I can successfully log in using by username and password. The problem is the connection is very poor when I use this method. The speed tests show the correct speed and downloads are full speed but pages seemingly randomly do not load (for long stretches of several minutes). For example my home page does not load ("page cannot load" error), google does not load, some pages load but not fully with many errors.
This isnt a browser issue (I tried firefox, IE, chrome), this isn't a modem/router issue (I have a laptop that works fine with a permanently logged in router), it's not an AOL issue I can still log in fine with AOL software and then browse fine with firefox, it's not a hardware issue, and it's not a firewall issue (it's off). Therefore it must be an issue with the way windows connects to my modem when using the built in PPPoE broadband connection. I really have no idea what could be wrong. Maybe one of you do?
With Vista, I can get internet for my new Dell XPS laptop over the wireless connection without doing anything other than selecting the connection. No user name or password is needed. But to plug in directly into my cable modem, it does not work. Seems to require user name and password. But I use Verizon and a Motorola SB5101 modem and while it is broadband, I did not think it is pppoe. I don't even know of any user name or password for my account. Am I wrong, is all broadband pppoe? My internet connection works just fine without asking for pppoe login info when I use my desktop with Windows XP. So, it seems to Vista specific problem.
If you have purchased Vista Ultimate 64bit and dont like it? I love vista, but my father recently got Vista Ultimate 64bit, and hates it, im wondering does MS allow a "Backwards Upgrade"? or whatever it is called....
