Can Receive Emails With Attachments With Documents Or Photos
Mar 23, 2008
I am using Windows Mail on Vista. I can only receive some emails. I can receive emails with attachments with documents or photos. I have tried turning off the Norton In-email scanning as per previous suggestions, but no luck!
When I send a mail all the pictures are embedded in the mail when I only want them to be attachments. Problem is greater in that the pictures fill the whole mail making them difficult to see anyway. I either need the pictures removed from the text or made about half the size.
Don't you just hate it when you have an operating system that WON'T let you move all of your Documents, Music, Photos, and Videos from Partition C to Partition D in one single click? I mean, this Windows Vista is the easiest to use right? WRONG! I should be able to tell the OPERATING SYSTEM that I WANT ALL MY STUFF ON D, and that when I GO TO MY FOLDER AND CREATE A NEW ONE, IT SHOULD BE CREATED ON D, NOT C! We need an update for this... There is now way around it, I mean, I DID MOVE ALL THE FOLDERS INDIViDUALLY, to find out that I STILL WRITE AT C:Usersusertest WHEN I WANT TO WRITE AT D:usertest! We had this at XP, but not on Vista? So, Microsoft is actually downgrading their operating systems now?
I just restored my computer to a previous date only to find that during the course of it, the action lost or deleted my belongings. All of my music, photos, and documents are all gone.
I am usuing McAfee anti-virus and can not see/receive attachments sent from 3 PC's at one of my clients. I have disabled e-mail scanning and identified the senders as safe, no joy! All other PC's at the clients are ok. If I preview the message through BT.com, the attchment id there.
I am using Vista and Windows Mail. When I try and attach a word or excel document (from 2007 suite) it does attach to the email, but the recipient does not receive the attachments. I have sent myself test emails and indeed an email arrives with no attachments (and yes...all the docs are closed in word or excel). I have sent as .docx and also as .doc and neither arrive..the only way they do go is if I zip them first in a folder and then send them.
Seems I'm having the same problems as some others here, but I can not find the solution. I just purchased a Vista 32 Home Basic machine last week. ALL email attachments are blocked. I made sure the -Do not allow attachments-.... is unchecked in the Security tab. I'm running AVG Anti-Virus and checked those settings as well. I do see the paper clip indicating an attachment in mmy Inbox but when I opent he email there is no attachment.
Just configured Windows Mail on my new laptop, and I can send and receive messages okay, but I cannot receive attachments. There isn't even any indication that the attachment was blocked; it's just not there. Also, I cannot receive HTML formatted e-mails (I get a news headline service); I can just see the hyperlinks. I have unchecked (cleared) the box that blocks .exe files, etc, but I'm only trying to send Word docs (to myself at this point to see if everything is working).
I have Windows Mail as my e-mail and are currently working in Vista but when I send e-mails from work to my home PC with any attachments I can receive the e-mail but not attachments appear. I have switched of the default in the security section in tools but still no joy.
My PC is running on Windows Vista SP1 and I am using Windows Mail as my mailclient. Two of my colleagues have recently started using Outlook 2003 and Outlook 2007 respectively as their mail client (both of them running on an Windows XP SP3 PC). It happened several times already that I was only able to receive the text of their email messages, but not any attachments at all. Their attachments are Word documents and PDF files. It has never happened before when my colleagues were using OE6 as their default mail client
I cannot believe what a mess your operating system is. I can't even open attachments received in my emails because your silly system is so poorly designed. I think it may be time to scrap my new HP system and go out an buy a real computer from Apple. If Bill Gates had to compensate Windows users for all the time wasted dealing with his damned OSs, he would for sure not be the world's richest man, and deservedly so. I'm fed up.
I was unable to open any of the attachments that were in my emails that previously I had been able to open. I did some reading here and found many references to incompatability with Norton and the need to change my security settings in Win Mail. almost by accident I came across a person who was not happy with IE8 and happened to mention that among other problems his Win Mail quit working properly after he upgraded to IE8. I uninstalled IE8 which reverted back to IE7 and now my Win Mail works correctly and all of my attachments can be opened.
I can't not receive email. I receive the following error message:An unknown error has occurred. Account: 'incoming.yahoo.verizon.net', Server: 'pop.mail.yahoo.com', Protocol: POP3, Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Error Number: 0x80004005.
every time I try to receive emails it gives me this error message. i have never entered a user name or password and all of a sudden I am being asked to enter one. I have tried every thing

My new emails are not coming into my inbox unless I exit out of Mail and then re-open Mail. If I hit Send/Receive, I get an error box with "Some errors occurred while processing the requested tasks. Please review the list of errors below for more details. But there's nothing in the Errors box.
The message I am getting below has been appearing since yesterday in my Windows mail and I cannot send or receive emails.
The connection to the server has failed. Account: 'pop3.live.com', Server: 'pop3.live.com', Protocol: POP3, Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 10060, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E
setting up windows mail on new hard drive and can't seem to figure out how to get it right. I am using a live.com email adress. I have already tried getting rid of antivirus stuff and fiddling around with security things. When i click send/receive mail it goes through and tells me i have no new emails which i know isn't true, i have 10 sitting online. I emailed myself and got a new email online so i know i can send them. When i click pop3.live.com under the send/recieve all button it gives me this error: The connection to the server has failed. Account: 'pop3.live.com', Server: 'pop3.live.com', Protocol: POP3, Port: 587, Secure(SSL): Yes, Socket Error: 10060, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E
Using windows mail I can send email but cannot receive email any more.Everything was ok like a week ago. But now i cant. When sending and receiving begins to download emails but then disconnects. I change the password but didint work, checked all account properties, everything looks ok, but i still cant receive.
The connection to the server has failed. Subject 'test', Account: 'pop.myisp.com', Server: 'smtp.myisp.com', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 10060, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E
This infuriating situation occurred exactly one month after receiving the new computer with Vista Home Premium already installed. My old computer is connected as a small network. When the problem initially occurred on 7th June it said "Receiving 1 of 8" but never did and after a while (1/2 to 1 hr?) I logged off and logged on again but to no avail. I thought maybe a big photo or something was coming in but nothing eventuated. I accessed my email via Optus Web Mail and saw that there was nothing there bigger than 493KB. The main error message I receive is - Account: 'mail.optusnet.com.au', Server: 'mail.optusnet.com.au', Protocol: POP3, Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Error Number: 0x800CCC19
I have telephoned Optus (Australia) 5 times but they insist it is a Windows Mail corruption problem. No one was able to tell me what this error message actually means. Another issue that may also be connected was when I downloaded a trial version of a home video editing programme. It cut the 30 day trial by about 8 days, finishing on June 1st. June the first I thought? Why June 1st? I asked on the forum but they could not explain why.
Using windows mail I have been using yahoo pop mail for some time but now I cannot send mail. This is the message I keep receiving. The connection to the server has failed. Subject 'goochland holding pond', Account: 'plus.pop.mail.yahoo.com', Server: 'plus.smtp.mail.yahoo.com', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 25, Secure(SSL): Yes, Socket Error: 10051, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E
When using windows mail I can only send receive once if I try to send receive again after the first time I get a error message and have to close windows mail and open it again so I can send receive again.
I've been using windows mail for a couple of weeks, but yesterday all of a sudden I couldn't receive nor send e-mails. These are the error messages that appear everytime. ...
