I have only been using Vista for 2 days, and am having trouble with received emails disappearing. I was checking my inbox, and watched 4 emails being received, then one of them just vanished. The message said 4 new messages. I have checked deleted items and junk e-mail. The current view is set to show all messages. I have McAfee Security Centre installed. Have checked the logs but nothing there either.
View 4 RepliesMy Microsoft Mail in Vista moves received and sent emails in a very odd manner. Rather than keep emails sorted strictly by date received and/or sent, the emails are moved. For example, if I reply to an email received and it had a subject line, a return email may be buried deep based on who sent the original and the subject. This makes finding the emails very difficult. I would like all emails received and sent to be sorted based on date received and/or sent, similar to Outlook.

View 4 Replies View RelatedWhen I opened Windows Mail, it had ALL my Inbox mail marked as unread. From now on, when I open an email, that email will disappear the next time I go into my Inbox. It is not moved into the "Deleted" folder - it disappears. I checked for settings that might cause this but found none. What is going on?

View 6 Replies View RelatedWhenever I send out an email with a picture or any kind of attachment including word documents through Windows mail, it says the email was sent, but it isn't being recieved by the recipient. Then I get a Norton symantec pop up saying this problem does not occur often, their support team have not been able to reproduce the error, and it also says that the error message is actually caused by a problem on the cpu itself. When I clicked the "run it now" button to run a Symantec administrative tool it states that I must be logged into an administrative account to complete this action, but I am! The only info it gave was this: Module 1003, Error ID 9, Build Symantec. I have Norton Antivirus 2007 and I ran a full scan and I don't have a virus. I'm about to throw this cpu out the friggin' window! Is there anyone out there who knows why it's doing this? My last resort is to bring it in to the geek squad to see if they can fix it.

I have had these accounts for 5 years. I bought this computer 2 years ago. No changes have been made and all the sudden I am receiving each email 2x's in the inbox and junk mail folders. It is not just from a few people, and not them sending twice. IT is from EVERYONE for the last few weeks. I have 2 emails accounts. When I go to email accounts under tools it shows only 2 accounts. _They_are_not_listed_twice...._ I have Norton Virus protection always had. Nothing has been changed.

I think it may be time to scrap my new HP system and go out an buy a real computer from Apple. When I reply to emails received on email accounts other than the default email the "from" email address does not change to the email address of the received account.
I understand that the email address in the "from' field when I start a "new" message or create mail is that of the configured default email. My question is while replying to an email received in other configured accounts should not the "from" field email id change from the default email id to the email address of the email to which is replied.
We are looking for a software or add-in that can be installed within Vista Mail and that would automatically identify the country of origin of each email received... for example by showing a small country flag icon beside each incoming email within our mailbox.
We need to quickly filter spam and competitor emails from certain countries. At present, we do it manually by copy pasting the header of a suspicious mail into a website online that looks up the country of origin for us. So we would like to know of any add-in that automates this process, paid or otherwise, or any alternatives that people are using for this kind of problem.
I have tried rebuilding the Icon cache, but this didnt quite work for me.
Is it because im using 32 bit?

I have tried on two pcs (I only have vista pcs now) with two different user accounts but with no success the posts have never been downloaded or displayed or deleted, they just dont exist as far as mail is concerned I have downloaded thunderbird and the messages appear as they should. I dont like thunderbird, I find it difficult and unintuitive, but at least it works

Primarily it's been used for surfing the net and checking e-mail, light stuff. However, I'm down to about 27GBs and have not added nowhere near 43GBs worth ofmaterial to the PC. View 5 Replies View RelatedI have Nvidia 8800Gt Up-to-date Drivers 1tb Hd Runnign Vista Ulti 32 and i just applied a crap load of patches last night and then Sp2 about a hour ago. And now Aero disappeared, Checked Services and all that jazz, everything is running. Already redid my score. Every time i try a Theme the uses Aero i get Windows Classic. Along with SP2 Windows Poweshell was installed, could that be messing it up? I dont have anything but updates recently installed. no incompatibility programs. I heard that sometimes when u apply Service patches ur Serial can mess up and might need re-activation? Cuz i remember before i bought a Ultimate Serial after the time limit i couldn't use Aero. I upgraded from Basic to Ulti. So yea, Checked the services, did the score, checked reg, checked processes, and tried most of things suggested on the forums.

View 6 Replies View RelatedThe problem now is that when he clicks on an mp3 or doc file (those are the ones I was able to check) when on the net with internet explorer 7 the download disappears. It pops up with the window to download the file. I removed the check in the "close window when complete" (or whatever it says). You can watch it download the file but when the download is finished the window closes. When you go to the appropriate folder nothing is there. I have even searched the computer with the file name and nothing. It doesn't even attempt to open media player (11) to play the file. He said both the mp3 and pdf issue started at the same time (don't know if that is coincidence or not) and was surprised when I pointed out the same thing with the doc file and no attempt made by computer to open Word. I did download firefox and clicked on an mp3 file and it played fine. Thinking we just needed to repair IE7 I went to M$ site and quickly learned that you cannot download ie7 if you already have it on your computer.

I unclicked show icons and clicked it again and they call came up but in a different way than what I had them. So i spent some time arranging them the way they were. Now everytime I start up my computer they are gone. I do the same procedure but I dont have to rearrange them they are in the right spot. I have searched and came across a guy with the same problem but no one has helped him and it was asked like over a year ago. I did virus checks, updated my virus programs, reset icon cache, and refreshed it. None of the tips worked. I dont want to have to do this everytime I start my computer.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI was looking around at settings The change allowed me to look at several restored down windows back and forth simply by hovering the mouse overtop. That all works fine unless I have only one window open. As soon as the mouse moves off the page it disappears into the taskbar. It is difficult to get the window from the taskbar to the screen and get my mouse on it all at the same time to keep it there. I have looked though every setting on the Logitech/Setpoint download that came with my wireless mouse and can't find it there. I am not sure where else to look. I'm using Vista Home Premium 32 bit that came with my HP Pavilion dv 9000 laptop.

I'm not using Norton (am using Kaspersky and restore is in the list of trusted applications). There is 300 gig spare on the HD. Restore is enabled on my HD. I restarted my machine and yet it was still missing. the odd thing was all my logins and passwords were dleted as well. i went to the properties section and ticked quick launch hit apply nothing happened. it ok and still nothing happened. so i went back into properties and it was untick even though i had ticked it hit apply and ok. it seems it will not register the accpetance. i have restarted my machine several times

I am absolutely going mad trying to fix this. I have purchased a laptop with Vista Home Premium installed ( I am a Vista novice BTW). Created a new profile for my partner ( mine is set up as the administrator) and transferred some pictures to the Desktop. Few days later I couldn't see the folder containing the pictures on the desktop; I tracked it back through the explorer. I transfer them to the documents folder ad The next time it is completely disappeared. Same happened with my pictures later on in my profile. I have searched the pictures everywhere, nothing and of course I have not deleted them, but they seem disappeared. I have tried a recovery software and nothing. Now, recoveing pictures would be good, but avoiding this happening again is my main concern.
I have also noticed that when downloading the software I use looses the link to the folder where the files are stored. it seems there is something wrong with the default folders set up in my profile (Documents, downloads, Pictures and so on).
I cannot download anything from the internet. I have tried all the suggestions I have found and still no luck. I have made sure that file download is on, I have tried unsuccessfully to system restore, I have turned off Windows fire wall and defender, I changed the user setting, I tried to uninstall windows defender, but Vista won't let me.I reset the internet settings. I am at my wit's end. This started happening right after I downloaded Norton. From what I can see from the different forums I've been to, no one seems sure if it is a Vista problem or a Norton problem. The only good thing so far is that my computer is a lot faster
now that Windows defender and fire wall is off. I can't even download Windows7.
I have a Gateway Desktop model GM563E with a Vista Home Premium operating system. After installing Vista update 938371 released 4/8/08, my mouse pointer disappeared (while keyboard functions still worked). Changing mouse settings and installing a new mouse did not remedy the problem. I needed to do a system restore and remove the Vista update to make the pointer work again. Has anyone else had this problem?
