I have a cannon ip2600 printer. It has worked for about 6 months and now I can't print. I have canceled all documents and tried to delete drivers so I can reinstall but vista won't let me. I get a message- Unable to remove ip2600 series x86,type3-user mode driver. The specified printer driver is currently in use.

I also have a new HP Laptop with Vista premium that has also had the same printer attached to it at times so the drivers are installed on HP laptop. I recently installed a router so I can use laptop wirelessly. That works fine. However, I am unable to print to the host printer wirelessly. I get message saying printer cannot communicate with computer. I tried everything I found on Google searches. I have enabled printer sharing on both. Do I have to make the Workgroup names the same and if so do I change the Dell with XP or the HP with Vista? I changed the Dell once to no avail so I changed back. Do computer names have to be same? I am a novice at networking.
View 6 Replies View RelatedA friend has a Toshiba laptop running Vista Home. He has a printer that cannot be deleted. When I attempt to delete the printer I get an "accesss denied" error. The printer had five documents in the queue. I cannot cancel the documents either.
He has two user accounts on the computer. I have tried to delete the printer from both accounts and get the same error with both. I enabled the Administrator account, logged on as Administrator tried to delete both the documents and the printer. I could not delete the documents (no error message) and I got the same "access denied" error when I tried to delete the printer. How can Administrator not have access to delete a printer? How do I delete the printer?

I can highlight id and press delete or right click delete or Alt+File->Delete but it doesn't go away.
I tried to scan with the Epson NX 415 printer but I get an error saying that it is unbale to communicate with the computer. I installed the latest drivers, and when I was chatting with the Epson tech support, they had me try to scan with Pain, but that too did not work. So they said I had a problem with the Windows Image Acquisition (WIA) service and to contact Microsoft. Not sure what I need to do to get this working. I am able to print fine with the printer. My OS is Windows Vista Home Premium 64-bit

Now for some reason the Will NOT DELETE. we have tried everything from drag and drop to move to folder and setting the filters so it would move then to the junk folder and nothing works. i have gone through windows KB and vista help and support and found nothing that worked. i have searched everywhere but can't seem to find anything that might help.

I am unable to delete any files on my computer. I can delete folders, but not files by themselves. I try to right click on the file I am wanting to delete and it just freezes up on me. He went to Offline NT Password & Registry Editor and downloaded cd080802.zip under the bootdisk submenu. Our attempts to correct the problem have failed. We've tried deleting the account through Control Panel and command prompt. We've tried making the account inactive through command prompt. Even when we type in "net user *** " all we get is "The syntax of this command is: ..." like the account is inaccessible. You don't get the "user name could not be found" message that you would if you typed in an invalid user name but you don't get the account information that you normally would either. We've tried system restore but the account is still set as administrator.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI am having some problems with my drivers so I am trying to delete the partition on the operation system drive and do a fresh install, operating system and drivers. However, no matter what I do I cannot get my computer to boot from the windows vista DVD so I can delete the OS partition. Here is what I already tried:
- My BIOS is set to boot from CD ROM first
- I have tried both DVD drives
- I verified that the DVD is good by trying it in a different computer where it will boot from the DVD drive
- The DVD drive works because I can initiate installation from the DVD drive. But since it isn't on start-up, I cannot delete the partition and all the drivers.
How do I get this dang computer to recognize this DVD on boot?

I right click it and hit delete but no confirmation comes up asking if I want to or not. No message saying it's in use or anything. If I try to rename it it reverts back to the invisible characters. I cant deleted some invalid paths and shortcuts in the system....
Here when I open any application and try to insert or open a file for that application, I am facing the problem.
For Example,
In VLC Player, I click on Media --> Open File
This gives you the Box to select the file you want and in the bottom of that small window in the " File name " box, you will be having a drop down box to select the file.
Here all the deleted files are listed with the file name and path, which was deleted months ago...
When you select the file it says, "Path does not exist, try again"
So, I think all the invalid shortcuts are stored some where in the system, which displays there.
So we need to deleted that particular cache.
I found out that there is something called " Indexed Cache " in Vista, which saves all the shortcuts as the files are stored.
I need to find out how to delete the file shortcuts from that location.
Similiar issue is there in Outlook 2007, when I compose a new message and insert file.
It gives the drop down box like the above issue with all the deleted files path.
I tried rebuilding the Indexing Options as advised before.
It didnt work.
I performed all the basic steps, like deleting cookies,temp files from system,ran chkdsk,disk cleanup, and also used some popular and unpopular cleaning software and nothing worked.
My Windows Vista Enterprise has a serious problem. It is unable to find, delete, or create any system restore points. I have not found a way to re-initialize the system restore point process.

Anyway, there are a couple of files in the folder that are, apparently, not really there. They are like ghost files. They used to exist but now they are still visible but not recognized by any program. Also, they have a size of 0 kb!

I?m trying to install a network printer on a Vista machine. Vista is able to locate the printer on the network but when I select it for installation, for some time, Vista tries to connect and then pops up this message: "Failed Connecting to Printer - Access Denied" And then another window pops up with this message: "Spooler Subsystem Application stopped woring and has been closed." In fact the spooler service always stops, so I have to restart it on the services windows, within Administrative Tools of the Control Panel. The machine is new and has been installed yesterday. Everything else works fine. The printer I am trying to install is on a Windows XP Professional machine within the same network (naturally).

View 7 Replies View RelatedI cannot set the default printer in Vista Business with SP1. I am connected to a domain trying to set a network printer hosted from a server as the default printer. I have seen a dozen or more questions similiar to this in this group as well as on other forums and found no answer. I see a MS-MVP come on and tell people to remove local printers such as the XPS and adobe printers. This is a ridiculous solution. Sure it may allow you to connect to a network printer but you have removed printers that you are going to need to use again. Unacceptable.
So far the only other solution that does not include deleting all the local printers off of the machine is to make sure you have write permissions to the default printer registry key. I have checked this and I do have write permissions(Full Control). SO WHAT NEXT? IS MICROSOFT EVER GOING TO COME OUT WITH ANOTHER FIX FOR THIS?
