One of the computers in our house has contracted a serious illness. We have tried NOD32, Kaspersky, Spyware Doctor, Bitdefender. Spyware Doctor found approx 15 Trojans, several backdoors and other miscellaneous junk. Unfortunately to get rid of them, you must pay 40 dollars!
What can I try to get rid of them oh mighty Security Team??
I just picked up a Trojan somewhere. Window's Defender removed it. Now I'm wondering what I did wrong. A week or so ago, I got a pop-up claiming that I had no virus protection and saying that "they" were going to do a scan. I DO have virus protection (McAfee), so I knew this wasn't legit. I had a hard time shutting it down, but I did. I did three scans in Safe mode (McAfee, Defender and Super AntiSpyware Free) and found nothing. I am wondering if this Trojan came from that and just wasn't detected until now. If not, could it have come from an Email attachment? My friends are always sending me forwarded things which I enjoy. I do have email scanning enabled, and only open ones that say "No unsafe attachments detected". Is it okay to open these forwarded items, or should I not? I have Window's Vista Home Premium.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI'm running Windows Vista 32-bit, and the latest Mcafee antivirus. I got hit with a trojan virus. Now both Internet Explorer 8 and mozilla 3.1.1 will no longer work. Firefox will no longer load at all. IE8 will load 2 copies and both freeze up before brining up my webpage.=
View 4 Replies View RelatedI am running Windows Home Premimum 64 bit. I started having numerous problems a couple of weeks ago, including: Screen resolution was changed, Clear Type and User Account Control were disabled, computer would stop responding temporarily of lock up completely, blue screen at boot up or computer would boot to recovery console, monitor would be on at boot up but would not come out of sleep mode. Finally last night the key board and mouse (both wired) stopped working. I changed the mouse and keyboard to ones that used usb connectors and was able to boot up again, and this keyboard and mouse work, but still having performance issues (hanging, 3D screen saver runs jerky. I tried to run Trend Micro Housecall but could not get to run. I tried to update the Nvidia drivers several times and my computer would shut down before the installtion was completed everytime. I would get a blue screen with the notice that the computer had been shut down to protect it from damage. Norton 360 found nothing. I have since uninstalled Norton. Ran AVG, nothing.
Finally Kaspersky online deep scan found these:

i keep getting windows logoed antivirus 2008 saying ive got 40+ infections-viruses trojans etc , and i should eliminate them by se nding 50$ --but when i check my norton i have no infections --its beckoming a pain--anyone else getting this and-or how can i stop it?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI'm running Windows Vista Home Basic 32-bit with Service Pack 1 and all other updates (as far as I can tell). that is, my Avast! Anti-Virus has classified my kernel32.dll and wsock32.dll files as trojans and locked them in the vault. I approved the transfer a long time ago and only recently realized my mistake. When I attempted to restore the files, however, Avast! says that it was able to complete the action "with errors" (the error being that it couldn't move the files).
However, in addition, I think I am missing other .DLL files, such as the Wireless Extensibility Module. I've already tried re-installing the WLAN driver, updating the driver, using alternate Wireless management software, and doing a system restore. Yet the problem persists. I've even tried doing a complete system restore from boot-up, but it says that none exist.
Another problem is that various other .exe files in the /System32 folder won't execute (I am assuming this is because they are missing associated .DLLs). I have all important documents backed up, so it wouldn't be a problem to a total system restore, but, like I said, I can't.
I have just purchased a new high capacity hard drive that I wish to install in my PC. I think this question has been asked before but all seem to want to copy their existing drive onto the new drive. I just want to start brand new fresh and clean. Dont want to transfer anything. I think I may have hidden virii or trojans in my old drive that I just want to be shed of.
how do I ensure that when I install the new drive it will be designated as c: I also have a d: drive that I use for music and data storage. Should I unplug the d drive while installing the new drive? I intend to install Vista Ultimate on the new drive. Also, microsoft authenticate this new installation of Vista given that it is on a brand new drive? I assume microsoft does some hardware checking to ensure any reinstallation is on the same and not a completely different computer.
So a few minuets ago firefox crashed and this window 'Vista security Tool" Came up telling me i had trojans key loggers etc etc. I couldn't recall ever having a program by that name on my comp so I google it and yup it's malware. I don't know how to get rid of it the instructions I found didn't make sense after the command>notpad>paste this text part. Please can anyone explain to me (like I'm two) how to remove this? Also can anyone tell me how 'dangerous' this program is and why it's bugging me?
