MYSQLD.EXE Hogging The Processor
Dec 20, 2009
Whenever I restart my Vista 64 Dell XPS435 I get a process called MYSQDL.EXE in the task manager list that continuously uses 10-15% of the processor time. Not sure when it started but I think it began in the last 2 weeks. I can go in and manually end the process with seemingly no affect on any programs but this is a lot of processor time and I notice my cooling fan kicking on a lot more often. Questions
1. What is this file for and do I need it?
2. If I don't need it how do I stop it from loading? It's not in my start-up folder or on my StartUp list using msconfig.

New member here, was wondering if anyone had any answers to a problem I've recently encountered.
I have a Dell StudioXPS with Vista 64 and for the last 3 weeks or so every time I start up my pc I get this "Mysqld.exe" process that just runs the cpu at almost 100%. I have to manually end the process otherwise my pc runs extremely sluggish. Runs fine afterwards.Have no idea what it could be,what program it is or anything. It doesn't show up in my startup folder, msconfig. Only in the processes.
I've tried a system restore to no avail,cc cleaner to delete any new program it may have come from, cleaned the registry, etc.

I run a VMware setup with Vista (64-bit) Home Premium as the Host system, and Vista (32-bit) Home Premium as the guest system. Although I have only 16 GB devoted to the guest system, at one point recently I was only using not quite half of that space. Now, when I click on Computer, I am finding that there is literally no free space. If I delete some software, this freed up space gets consumed also.
How do I go about finding what it is that is clogging this allocated space? The only changes that I have made to the guest system is the addition of Malwarebytes Anti-Malware software.

for a coupla months now but it finally got to me last night, my Vista 32bit PC is hogging my physical memory on bootup---seems like forever. my light on front is constantly on. i ran through a lot of tests last night to see whats up. i did see major spikes in my resources moniter. but i could not see or find what was useing it up. my physical memory showed 65% usage. i managed to do some windows updates and reboot which helped. i also ran chkdsk for my C hard drive.(i have 3 hard drives total). since it rebooted without me there, i assume the C hard drive may be ok.

What does 32 bit Vista do on a 64 bit processor? Does is use both cores in 32 bit mode or does it only use half the processor? If it uses both core, at the same time? or one then the other.

There are many programs, which get our processor name (e.g. "QuadCore Intel Core 2 Q9550, 2833 MHz (8.5 x 333)" in Everest). I wonder if I could deceive these programs by changing some variable (in register?), so programs couldn't get my real processor name.

I really don't have much idea about the inside workings of a computer but I gather I may be able to replace the Zif Processor with a faster one to improve speed. I have plenty of memory so I just wonder if it is worth the trouble,if it can be done. I am just a light user.

I keep having this problem where using DVD Shrink or Windows Movie Maker will max out my processor between 90 and 100%. After a minute or two of converting a DVD or publishing a movie, my computer will just shut down. I've tried closing pretty much every other application I can and the problem still persists,

It says there is a server processor error and for more information visit the event log. Because of this I clicked F8 (can succesfully view it) and tried to log into safe mode. Fail - So I tried every type of safe mode there was. I was browsing and tried different methods and none of them worked. I arrived a tread here about the window vista startup repair using the cd that came with the computer when I bought it. I put the cd in and nothing happens, it just boots normally. For some reason, I am not even getting the error message (processor error) that I used to and just have a black screen. How do I start the startup repair? There is some music files and schoolwork files I want to collect. Even if I can't repair it I am ready to loose my data and do a complete system reinstall.

Just recently bought and installed a new processor AMD Athlon X2 64 6000+ AM2 and flashed bios because my motherboard had difficulties to recognize the processor. After this im getting bluescreen with IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL constantly after comp has been running for a while. So go to the store and buy a new motherboard or? I have also tried to flash several versions of bios but that only made things worse.

I have had some irritating system lockups with my computer lately and I am looking for ways to analyze the problem to see if I can pinpoint the offending application or driver. I have several mini dumps on the computer but unfortunately I don't have the tool to even open them. My computer uses an AMD Athlon dual core 64 bit processor but I'm running 32 bit Vista Ultimate. Following Microsoft's instructions I downloaded the x64 debugger file for amd processors. When I tried to install it I got a message that it is not for use on my system and I'm told to contact my processor vendor (or something to that effect).

I have read this stuff over and over and I have seen it change and I am still trying to figure it out. I have my hardware ready to put together my next "Home Grown PC". It will have a 64 bit dual core AMD card. A ATI Direct 10 compliant graphics card, 512mg and allow me to digitally connect to my 22" wide screen LG monitor. I have 4gbs of RAM (a pair of 2s). Oh yes, a loaded with functionality MSI motherboard that can handle a AMD quad processor if I want. So, I definitely, will want a 64 bit version of Vista. I have reseached and downloaded the 64 bit drivers needed. Some issues still there for my Canon Lide 50 scanner and syncing my Palm PDA. But, I will worry about it later.
I would love to get the Vista Ultimate, but to me, the cost is rather insane. Way to high for me, even though I work and am a student. I am looking at the Business 64 and the Home "Premium" 64. On the differences between them, it appears that the Home Premium version has a limitation of 16gb of RAM memory, while the Business edition has something like 128gb limitation. I have the full Nero Package, but there is backup and restore software with the Business Edition, not in the Home edition ?? The Business Edition does not come included with Windows Media Player and related technologies such as Windows Movie Maker, and a DVD creator as well as some "games". Aren't those games and the Windows multi-media products available for free download ?? Or possibly is it just telling the Business Edition to install them, like you would do now with XP. I am aware that every DVD is exactly the same, regardless of version, but it is the license that is entered that allows the installation to load and not load some features . I also am concerned about communication features that seem to be in Business that are not in Home ?? I know that the SP1 will be coming out shortly, so there might be some additional differences coming down...............

my processor is a core 2 duo E4600 @ 2.4Ghz.The problem is that sometimes when i switch my pc on the beeping overheat sound comes and my pc turns off. sometimes when i do manage to turn it on, i use coretemp and speedfan for the temp. reading and in the beginning it reads at 83 degrees celcius! then it cools down and the temp. remains betwwen 65c - 70c. yesterday the nomal temp was between 40c-45c. the sudden increase in its normal temp scared me. this increase happenned after i cleaned and dusted the insides of my pc. while dusting it i didnt do anything near the processor. i have 3 8mm fans in the pc. 1 blowing on the processor and 2 sucking air out-one from the back and one at the side.

I just have a Vista 64 bit home premium that I got 3 weeks back. Lately it has been having problems. One thing was that the computer would randomly have BSODs with the error of 0x07e (I think, then again it might be part of the error number, not sure) In addition, I tried having the computer fix the errors by itself and it couldnt, later on I found that the security processor loading driver was not working. I tried to restart Vista with the installation disc, but what happened was that a BCD error came out with the numbers 0xc000014c.

After reading multiple articles on various site regarding how the processor power management works in Vista, I have yet to find a resolution to my current situation. I am running Vista Home Premium 32bit on my HP Pavilion tx 2110 with an AMD X2 Mobile Tech TL-62 2.1Ghz and 3gb of RAM. Whenever my laptop is unplugged from the wall and running on the battery, Vista seems to limit the processor frequency to 38% of the max (roughly 800mhz) no mater the power plan or processor load. While the computer is plugged in however, everything runs beautifully with the frequency at 100%.

I like the CPU speed control in Power-->Advaanced settings, with precision to 1%. We've always had it in IBm Thinkpads, since IBm sold it to China which rebranded it as Lenovo, I switched to American HP. Regular Windows, not taylored by IBM, was never aware of Thinkpads unique internals. Now with Vista it doesn't matter, i can control processor and I CAN SEE & HEAR RESULTS! Suppose fan is blowing and my hand can feel warm air flowing from vents, I tested it several times when I switch from CPU 100% to 25%, fan slows down stops, air gets cooler, and fan is often stopped which gives me some peace in temrs of reliability. A hot computer is bound to sustain permanent damage, heat is the biggest killer of electronics. So I switch to 100% when running CAD & Graphics/Video apps, 25% when writing articles, 10% when reading/browsign plain text, of course I don't annoy myself by clicking switches and playign with this instead of real work.
But still i appreciate this control, because I my profession is electroncis-related I just like this type of clock frequency control. IBM also provided us with automatic CPU, automatic PCI bus or fixed PCI bus frequency, optical drive turn-off time in addiiton to harddisk timer found for real techies who get deep into hardware, we don't have that in Vista but I don't care. I have a real quiet laptop now despite its gigantic 17inch display and hardware meant for hard-core CAD, Graphics & Gaming, you don't alway sneed processor toiling hard in summer heat, only asking for potential fan damage-->CPU damage, so thsi control is nice....

I understand the point of a "maximum processor state." You can lower it to restrict the CPU and gain battery life. The CPU consumes less energy and the fans consume less energy from a cooler thermal load. I've never really understood the need for a "minimum processor state" though or what it even does for that matter.
