Office XP On Slave Drive And Upgrade

Mar 29, 2008

The motherboard on my old computer died. Hard drive was still OK, though. Have put it in an external HD enclosure and hooked it up to the new Gateway - running Vista. I don't have the disks for Office XP, it came pre-installed and I purchased it, but no longer have the product key. I do NOT want to upgrade to Office 2007, I want to use the Office XP I paid for, and was happy using. I can't transfer programs using WET or WETC - at least, I haven't been able to figure out how to do it, with both drives connected to the same computer. How can I configure Vista to run my the copy of Office XP currently installed on my old HD?

Upgrade Office 2007: Not Supported

Mar 23, 2008

I bought a PC with Vista Home preinstalled. Needed Vista Business. I had to format the drive to get it to install. Now, after working fine for 3 months, when I try to upgrade to Office 2007 Vista stops the installer service and pops up a message stating that "this is a beta copy that is no longer supported by Microsoft, please upgrade".

My Office 2003 Disappeared After Installing Office 2007

May 15, 2010

Originally, I had Office 2003 installed in my computer, & a trial version of 2007 that had already expired.

Today I installed a full version of Microsoft Office 2007, without removing any of the other two versions from my computer. I realized that it seemed to automatically remove the older version. I`m not bother about it not being there, as I got the new version, but I wonder if this is an automatic uninstalling that Office does, or if the version is still there but I can`t see it, as I would like to remove it properly if it`s still somewhere in my computer.

I checked in Control Panel & the only thing I can see is "Microsoft Office Enterprise 2007", the full version I just installed, & everything that come with it. No 2003 anywhere.

Office Access?

Jun 29, 2009

I use two tables: "Authors" and "Books" (Authors being a list of authors and then the books they have written; and Books, well, just being the list of books by all the authors) {see Books1}. Whenever I entered a new entry, it always went to the bottom of the author I selected(which I want because it is done in the order I read them in) {again see Books1}. However, now whenever I enter a new entry it goes to the top (which is annoying).

Just as a random example, say that the first 4 books are in order that I read them in (normally chronologically). Then, I add the 5th book and it goes to the top! So now it will be in the order: 5, 1, 2, 3, 4 {see Books2}. I do not know how or why this has begun to happen. What I want to do is have them in the order in which I entered them (by entered date or whatever). Sorry if it is a bit confusing! I'm no expert and I'm unsure of the "official" or "proper" termonology when it comes to Office Access!

Open Office As A Default

Feb 14, 2009

What is the simplest way to have Open Office open any type of Microsoft Office file?

My Office trial is over and I'm too cheap to pay for it.

I tried using the Default selector, but I was wondering if there was a method quicker than going through each extension one by one.

I use Home premium x64.

Office XP 2003 W Vista 64

Feb 23, 2009

I have Office XP disks and I bought a new laptop running Vista 64. Per Vista compatibility web - these do not play well together and it is suggested that I buy new software. I have free Office trial software on the laptop and I don't like the new Office product. I thought I saw a note when I searched this topic last week that the problem is with Outlook and Vista 64 (no details could be found from Microsoft web search). I don't need Outlook on this laptop.

Office H&S 2007 Install On X64

Aug 14, 2009

I just replaced my 10-year-old PC and am trying to install Office Home and Student 2007 on my new Vista 64 machine. Unfortunately, whether I use the autorun or manually double-click setup.exe on the disc, nothing happens. I get an hourglass briefly, the disc spins in the drive, and setup.exe appears in the task manager for about three seconds then disappears. Nothing else happens.

I've downloaded every available update from Microsoft. I'm logged in as an administrator, I've tried to right-click on setup.exe and select run as admin from there, I've tried changing compatibility mode to XP SP2, and nothing seems to work.

I've been searching online for awhile now and can't find anything with regard to this issue. Has anyone seen this before? Or, can anyone give me some suggestions? I didn't anticipate any problems because I read in many places that Office 2007 runs fine on Vista 64, so I uninstalled Works and the free 60-day Office trial from my new PC before I tried to install the full version of Office to avoid conflicts. Unfortunately, I don't have access to Word or Excel now, and it's going to be a problem.

Office Accounting 2008

Sep 7, 2009

I got this with my office ultimate steal deal from Microsoft. First the deal, any one with and edu suffix email (valid) can get office ultimate 2007 for $59.95. Yes that part is true, I got it for the wife who is a teacher with and edu email address. Now my problem comes in with accounting 2008 that MS through into the deal for free. So I loaded it and love it. Here is the problem, every time I open my MS outlook which now has Business Contact Manager loaded into it, I get a pop up that wants me to back up my contact manager database. So I backed it up and the next time I open MS Outlook, same pop up asking the same thing. My only choice is a snooze tab which I can change and the max for that is 2 hours. It still pops up. Any body have a fix or work around for this?

Trying To Install Office 2003

Aug 28, 2009

I'm trying to install Office 2003 as a precursor to installing an upgrade version of Office 2007. I previously installed it on another computer (now defunct) running XP Pro, and I had no trouble with it, but Vista Home Premium tells me I don't have the necessary permission to alter the registry. I have logged in as Administrator (at least I think I have) but I still run up against this brick wall. Looking at User Accounts in Control Panel, there is only one account - Administrator. Is there anything else I need to do to get complete access? It seems to me that Vista is trying to be extra-clever, and causing much weeping, wailing and gnashing of teeth in the process.

Office Not Responding After Sleep

Mar 13, 2009

Office 2000 works great from a clean boot or reboot, but I cannot use any Office program after coming back from sleep mode. Excel, Word, ect., they all freeze and go into NOT RESPONDING if I my computer was in sleep mode. I have even performed Office Repairs and it still hangs (until I reboot). I am not using any Add-ins or Macros, and no other program on my system has any problem with sleep mode. Running as administrator does not fix. Running in compatability mode does not fix.

Please don't tell me to upgrade because I have googled and found others have the same problem, even with Office '07. I would be mighty PO'ed if I spent over $100 for the latest and greatest in an attempt to fix just this, only to come out with the same problem. Please don't tell me to wipe my hard drive and re-install windows, that is not a solution I am willing to consider. And please don't tell me to install some free .org office clone, that is not a solution to my problem.

Cost Office 2010?

Does anyone know how much it will cost to upgrade Home & Student 2007 to

two years ago. I am not at all dissatisfied with the applications but would
prefer working with the latest releases if the cost is not prohibitive.
Replies and comments would be appreciated.
