Junk Filter Bypasses Rules

View 4 RepliesI am trying to permanently disable the Junk E-Mail filter in Windows Mail on Vista, but no matter what I try to do it still moves email to the "Junk Email" folder. This wouldn't be so bad if it were any good at it, but the problem is it moves a LOT of legitimate email. I have missed some very important emails because they are moved to junk. My ISP has a spam filter which is pretty close to perfect (Ironport), so I don't really get spam. I have set to "No Automatic Filtering" in options. I have disabled phishing filter in Internet Options and in Windows Mail. I have deleted all block lists etc.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI've tried dozen of times to install this update, but always failed. I have even downloaded it manually from Microsoft website, but no luck. Any idea what might be causing the problem? Office SP2 and Vista SP2 installations worked as a charm, no issues. EDIT: This is the logfile I get: Description: An error report containing information about the updates that failed installation has been generated. Update for Outlook 2007 Junk Email Filter (kb970012) failed to install.

I've tried thunderbird but you can't apply filters to messages you have already downloaded and can't reset the server like you can in windows mail.

It seems to be connected but no page can be loaded. At first when I diagnosed and repaired it said that there is no problem, but it still wouldn't load any pages. Now when I do a diagnose and repair it says something about the filter query policy being changed and to check my firewall setting.

Brandon Paddock's Blog » Blog Archive » FAQ: Why does WDS / Windows Vista use so many processes?
I guess it's part of 3 Vista "Services" which mostly have to do with indexing. Is this so that Vista can so quickly find files? Is that all it's for? If so, I should be able to permanently block it without any problems, right?
I really don't need Vista to be able to find everything within 2 seconds. I don't look for things that often and when I do I have a pretty good filing system and can get to them on my own pretty quickly.
People are reporting that these 3 services in the article linked above seem to take up a lot of processor power, too.
So has anyone blocked this? What is the best way to do it, and what is the outcome? Will Vista still be able to find things, only a bit slower, or what?
a program where I can select what kind of content on a site or a game is blocked, and when that 'filter software' is set off, that the screen it gives you wont say something like "This website has been blocked" "Blocked by 'parental control'. It should look like the page was unable to load. Additionally, the program should be able to start up on its own, and secretly. n a nutshell, I want a completly secret filter.

After the last Windows Updates ( Windows Vista Business 32 ), KB905866, my email rules are not being applied. I have a rule which tells Windows Mail not to get some emails and stop to process more rules, it is the last one in the rules list. View 8 Replies View RelatedFor all you MVP's & "wannabes" in training, here's a few basic rules:
1) If a poster is having hardware trouble, always respond with "It's YOUR fault, you should have done you HOMEWORK", regardless of the actual problem. In fact, reading the entire post isn't even necessary.
- example: "So what if your new $500 "Vista Certified" video card has no drivers? We never said it would work right NOW, we meant it MIGHT work LATER." BTW, "Homework" = "Upgrade Advisor", yea, we know it's seriously flawed, but who cares? We get to laugh at & ridicule those stupid enough to have trusted it in the first place. It's a "win-win" situation for us if ever there was one.
2) If a poster is having software trouble, always respond with "It's YOUR fault, you should have done you HOMEWORK", regardless of the actual problem. See? Easy isn't it? We went to great lengths to make sure upgraders would have to buy as much new software (and hardware) as possible. See, we have this "deal" with the vendors, but don't mention this online, just blame the vendors instead. They don't care, they're getting rich too. Besides, they won't say anything if they know what's good for them.
3) If a poster protests or questions your reply, take it up a notch. Calling a poster stupid is usually sufficient to put them in their place. How dare they. Better yet, divert all attention by complaining about something totally unrelated, like top-posting or OT posts. Disparaging comments about the posters mental state or physical attributes are always a good way to sidestep any and all issues.......................

Have quite a few mail rules to direct incoming mail to subfolders. Each
rule ends with "Stop processing more rules". Rules work consistently, EXCEPT when first starting Win Mail. What often (though not always) happens upon start is that some messages are not being processed by the rules and are left in the Inbox. These messages have the same rule-related characteristics as messages successfully processed by the rule that were processed earlier when WinMail was already running at the time message was received.
I've verified that the rule is correct by then using the "Apply Now" feature for the rule that should handle such messages. The messages then get directed to the correct subfolder. This does NOT occur with just one rule, but seems to happen randomly, depending upon which messages are being received when WinMail starts up. It's almost as if WinMail begins to download messages before the rules have been loaded. Don't know if there is such a sequence in WinMail.

Over the last couple of weeks I have been inundated with loads of French spam in my Inbox. This is probably because my BB provider (Orange) is owned by a French company (I live in the UK). But what's really annoying is the sheer amount that I am receiving. I have been trying to set up message rules to keep it out of my inbox (looking for certain words or phrases in French etc) but I'm starting to lose the battle against. I don't want to change my ISP as (for now) my speeds are pretty good and I don't pay a lot per month for it any way.

This is my second time around testing Vista ultimate 64 bit and after much testing I cannot believe what a heap of absolute rubbish this OS is. How many years did it take Microsoft to develop this junk? I have the latest drivers/software/ quad core intel 6700 CPU with a modern motherboard and running 8GB of RAM. Yeah....I anticipate that you are all screaming and tearing your hair out and gnashing your teeth because I have told the truth about this piece of OS junk.
Vista Ultimate will not remain stable if you load and use a substantial amount of software on your computer. Yet both 32 bit and 64 bit versions of XP Pro are relatively stable. I am a business man and I can tell you that vista is unreliable and a total waste of money. In fact microsoft should pay anyone to use this piece of rubbish and the amount of time wasted attempting to trace down problems.....
I thought I would download the new Ubuntu 8.04 and give it a try because all the Ubuntu nut jobs were saying how cool Ubuntu is with their new release. I installed Ubuntu on my machine. I tried Open Office Spreadsheet. I thought I would try to enter a Macro then run it. I then had to install Java to be able to run a macro. If I didn't know that I needed to use Synaptic to figure out how to get the Java update, I would be screwed along with many others who try this crap. Just FYI
OK, so Java installs. BFD. It works but it isn't that good. Now, lets play some music. I navigated to bobrivers.com to play a tune. I was prompted to install some more updates. Fine. Did that. The install went OK. Then I had to install a couple more updates. That went fine. Now I clicked on the song to play and the page just froze.
No wonder why Ubuntu is such a piece of crap. Can't play a simple tune from a web page. Now in Vista, I could navigate right to the page, play the song and I would be as happy as a clam in a whorehouse.
