FF updated the other day to 3.5.7 and now the .exe process is still running after closing, this message "Firefox is already running, but is not responding. To open a new window, you must first close the existing Firefox process, or restart your system", is continualy giving me grief when i close FF and then try to reopen it soon after, i have tried every trick in the book to sort it, all thats left is to uninstall and re-install and i don't really want ot do that, and i definitely don't want to start IEing again ! Having to stop the process all the time is really annoying ! If you have or had the same problem and have fixed it could you tell me how you done it please, Bearing in mind i have tried all the usual tricks like addons and so on if you know what i mean ! it only seems to happen if i open other tabs, if i just do all my browsing and searching through one tab it dosen't seem to ! Also have just done full uninstall and reinstall this morning and it hasn't solved it, even done a chkdsk yesterday
I have both Minefield 64-bit and regular Firefox installed but whenever I run Minefield, Firefox always appears. I suspect its something to do with profiles but not sure.
am running vista 64 bit and using firefiox as my browser. Firefox asked me to upgrade to its most reent version 3.5.2 and now firefox will not open. I know others that are running it with 32 bit vista-is it possible tha my 64 bit version is the probem?
For all you people who have been looking for a way to get Vista's glass effect in Firefox, look no further. Here is an extension for Firefox 3 that will do it. (supports 32bit and 64bit FF versions) Information Here: [Ext] Glasser 1.0.16 (BETA) - Add Vista Glass to Firefox • mozillaZine Forums. Menubar Addon: This Addon hides the File/Edit/View/tools menu using the ALT key to show it temporarily.
So whats better, firefox 2 or 3.. the Official release of Firefox 3 has came right.. it's already been released?? How does it compare.. I'm sick of using Firefox 1.. I never got 2. and I don't wanna use IE.. so I was just hoping to hear from a few people and see what you all think.. Post comments please...
I use the latest version of Firefox. I will get a message saying that I'm in unsecure mode, and the way to fix it is to install a program from Microsoft (attached is a screenshot). However, even though it says that it's from Microsoft, if I double click it, it says it's from an unknown publisher.... what gives? And if I keep running the stupid AV and spyware bull, then why does this keep happening?
Windows explorer many of the games i have steam (which is a program where you buy games from)control panel my computer and even my computers screen saver i have had this problem for about a week now, and only had my computer for about 3 weeks here is the spec......
Manufacturer: Acer Model: Aspire M7300 Rating: 5.7 Processor: ADM Phenom(tm) II X3 710 Processor 2.60GHz Memory (RAM): 6.00 GB System type: 64-bit Operating System
now i dont have many programs that start up when windows starts.
Built a new pc last week. Installed vista 64, all was great! Installed Crysis (what a game!!!) Connected to the net...downloaded microsoft updates...dvd stops responding. Thats where i've been ever since. I've spent hours trawling the net trying different things ie upper/lowerfilters (which don't appear in my registry), remove drive, re-install, checking drivers/firmware, apply registry patch, but still can't get it to work. I've tried to start a fresh install of vista but without a dvd drive thats difficult! (not sure how much begging required :-) Device manager shows no errors - dvd working fine! DVD is TSST Sh S223Q samsung dvd/rw P5Q PRO m/b q6600 HD 4850 4gb corsair ram....
Works, Office 2007, Lotus 123 and others, constantly freeze and (Not Responding). My first reinstall was because UAC locked me out of Drive C:, yet the OS seemed to run ok. I took ownership and all priveledges and still could not access. Finally reinstall! I backed up drive C: before reinstalling (choose Drive C: only) yet when I reinstalled the backup it overwrote Drive D: Partition) Corrupting it. Second reinstall was similar only affected Drive M: again same problems forcing This time reload from CD. Also have a lot of trouble dropping the network connection. This time I cannot (chkdsk M: /f), when I use F9 On boot it only checks CPU, Memory (4mb) and drive C: Then it aborts. All my diag programs uncover no problems. Drives all check healthy and have been defraged regularly. All programs load extremely slow (2.4G Intel core 2 Quad Q6600) I think it should be fairly quick to respond.
I'm running Vista Ultimate x64 OEM without any issues, until now.
Yesterday my computer was running just fine, but now, all of the sudden, it seems like it doesnt want to cooperate.
Here's a small list of thumbnails to make telling my story a whole lot easier:
1) On startup - nothing appears out of the ordinary..
2) Starting firefox results in nothing but a blank page.
3) Closing firefox results in error.
4) Opening up Binary Newsreader = errors.
5) Closing Binary Newsreader = more errors.
6) Opening FTP app results in similar errors.

So my question to you, wise and noble users of Vistax64.com - what can I do to resolve these problems?
As mentioned earlier, I had *no* issues with my system yesterday.
I've been running Firefox 3 Beta 5 for a few weeks on Vista Home Premium. I started to get a message saying that Firefox couldn't be started because it was already running. Kill the process or reboot. Upon investigation in the Task Manager, Firefox is not running as an application or process?
I just got vista 64bit and Mozilla Firefox keeps crashing on me. I've heard there are some compatibility issues with Firefox and 64bit windows. Is there a patch out, a windows tweak or an alternate version of Firefox out to solve this issue? Another application I'm having trouble installing is Flash CS4, It keeps preparing the install files to a temp folder and then tells me that it needs to close and to check the destination drives disk space/ write protection settings. (note the destination drive has over 400gb left on it!)
firefox or ie 32 bit does not work, it wont connect to the internet, neither will aim. however i can go on websites with ie x64 bit version. but i cant go to Internet and such because flash doesnt work with the 64 bit version.
ok so i use vista home premium, have firefox installed. I cannot download anything using firefox or IE. whenever i do try to download the download window comes up and downloads all the way. I do not use desktop as the place where files are placed so it doesnt get cluttered, but it is in a folder on the desktop.
When it is done downloading there is nothing in the folder. It will be there while downloading ( and i can do anything with it), but when the download finishes the file dissapears and is unable to be found anywhere. It is not hidden or anything. I've done full advanced computer searches and the file cannot be found. I have AVG, but it is disabled.
I am in a few college classes and another problem that i am having is that when i try to take my homework off the site (usually in a .zip or .doc format), i have an error that comes up saying Cannot open C:UsersRyan'sAppdataLocalTempStudentDownload.zip (or .doc) this is a HUGE!!!problem as i cannot afford to run back and forth to the college everyday trying to get my homework done.
Every time an update comes out for FF 3.6, even though I have Firefox unchecked in the Update settings, it will ask me to update. Not just on startup, but just any old time. It's gettin' old fast!
The other night I come home from work late. I go to check my email and non-sense...but can't. Internet Explorer starts to crash..a lot. So, I found someone to send me Firefox the next day (I couldn't keep IE open long enough to do anything, half the time it didn't even open before the crash msg came up.) Still FF crashes. I don't know what the problem is..or was, it seems to be doing ok right now, first time I've actually been able to keep my browser open long enough to do something..I'm afraid to close it in case it doesn't work again. So..here are the reports, first the IE and then the FF.

Its late here so I'm gonna make this brief, my windows update keeps trying to install the same update over and over and over again. At this has been happening my firefox 2 has gone very unstable. I have never any problems with firefox till now. It is an update for xml core services (KB936181), take a look at the screen shot.
i can't stand ie, but lately whenever i need to hear anything it's my only option. no sound works on firefox period. even when i use the add-on that switches firefox to ie in the firefox browser, same problem. i think it might have worked when this computer was new but i could be wrong. and if it did it was only for a very short time.
If you go to Softpedia.com and click the Windows button you'll see an announcement and download links for Firefox 3.6 RC1. I just put it on both my PCs(W7 32 bit and Vista64 SP1.) Those running GradientIcool Blue theme may have to reload/reinstall the theme. After I did that using FEBE addon, my AddOn buttons showed in the status bar again. It passed my litmus tests. The pop-down descriptions on TV Guide site work, Silverlight video works on Netflix, and my AutoCopy AddOn copies. So far I haven't found any quirks or bugs.
basically as the subject says, Firefox 2.0.0.9 seems to run really slow on Vista, IE7 and Netscape 9.0RC1 seem to run really fast but for some reason Firefox just lags. I've searched the Internet but not really found much, few of the suggestions suggest netsh interface tcp set global autotuning disabled but that hasn't done much, they say run as an administrator which I do by right-clicking cmd and selecting run as administrator, not sure if I'm doing this right, not really sure how to run my machine as an administrator.
I have just downloaded Kodak Easy share from Kodak's website and each time I click on the kodak setup zip file it trys to intall Fraps instead. This happens on all the setup zip fles I downloaded from Kodaks website. Any ideas on how to fix this problem? Edit got it working now using IE. Still strange though how come it does not work through Firefox.
Also not too good with technical things (typical woman I know) I'm using Vista home premium and when using my computer if regularly stops responding and the screen fades can't do anything until it 'wakes' would anyone be able to tell me what the problem could be
I just recieved my new Dell with Vista 64-Bit Home Premium on Friday (the 8th) and since the initial start-up, I can be doing anything (web surfing, viewing task manager, any program) and without any warning the program just stops responding. In most cases I can't minimize or close the program and clicking Start - Restart even does not respond. The 'only' way to end this and restart the computer is by actually unplugging the power cable.
Viweing the Event Viewer I see that within 2 days, I have 83 Error messages listed under Windows Logs - Applications (These are the red buttons under the LEVEL column). All updates are installed. I have to write this quickly before the bugger freezes up again.
I've been trying to run Serif Page Plus SE free but continually get the 'not responding' message. I've given up on their support line as they l=keep telling me the same thing over and over. I'm running Vista - is there a c0mpatibility problem?
I have been having to use the Task Manager to shut down Internet Explorer due to the pages freezing up. When I open task manger it indicates that the page is not responding. This happened approximately 30 times today alone. I have no idea what is causing this problem so I don't have a clue as to what to do to fix it. I finely got so frustrated I just gave up and shut my system down.I'm running the VISTA operating system and, as stated above.
Ever since a few days ago whenever i go to open my Briefcase on my desktop it takes an enormous amount of time to open and all that appears when i click the icon on the desktop is a blank window in which it says at the top " EXPLORER(NOT RESPONDING)". It takes the briefcase a few minutes to finally open and display all my files and folders inside.
It is also a pain when i am attempting to save something. For example: if i was to attempt to download a file i would click save, and normally it would direct itself into my briefcase. It still directs itself to my briefcase accept now the save procedure is "Not Responding and it takes plenty time to start responding and working again.
whenever i log in, it sometimes says that explorer.exe is not responding. I then restart it, but whenever i try to open something that needs explorer.exe, like my computer, explorer.exe goes away again and i lose my desktop and task bar. This has been happening for the past few days, and i don't want to use a restore because that would take me back around 2 months ago.
Running Vista Ultimate 64-bit. Trying to upgrade to Windows 7 Ultimate (using upgrade Cd). Anything I try to do that uses the : AutoLaunchVWLASU (install, delete, try to defrag, etc...) - - when in Task Manager it lists this ALWAYS as, "Not Responding". I always have to end Task using Task Manager. Do I have a PC Problem (Sony VGC-LV150J) or a Windows Installation Issue. Cannot even invoke System Config or even RegEdit from the Start menu.
