I just set up newsgroups in MS mail and when I download headers it only downloads about a week. I know there is over a 60 day archive on the news server. I see no options to allow me to download the older headers.
View 4 RepliesQuite new to newsgroups within vista mail. In the past when I have used newsgroups and subscribed, I manage to be able to follow posts or look at messages from weeks ago. All I seem to be getting is 137 headers or whatever there called.Tried unsubscribing, reset etc. Do newsgroups work like normal mail that once you've downloaded you need to keep a copy on the server or you won't get that message ever again I posted a message yesterday and had to online to the Microsoft online newsgroup and search for my post.

When I try to download the newsgroups onto my new computer (Vista, HP, SP1), the message reads that WLM cannot connect to the internet. I disabled the virus protection (Norton, which came with the computer) and firewall, but I still cannot get to my newsserver.

For some reason the number of headers available for viewing is limited to +/- 100 even though I have the default 300 set. I have deleted the accounts and set up several times with the same result. Can someone please tell me how to tell Windows Mail to go back to showing me at least the 300 I've asked for. As an example - this newgroup is showing 298 messages, 298 read, 15221 not downloaded but only 106 are available for viewing! Help is needed.

Microsoft has a web site Download details: WinHlp32.exe for Windows Vista that provides a copy of WinHlp32 that is supposed to run on Vista. However, when I try to install the x86 version of it, it fails with the error message "Installer encountered an error 0x8007000d The data is invalid. View 8 Replies View RelatedI am presently using 96SE. my ISP no longer supports this version as do some programs....my unit is not powerful enough for either xp or vista I am in my eighties and some of my colleagues tell me that vista has a pretty high learning curve, have found both windows 95 and 95se very user friendly. I can get a new unit from Dell loaded with either XP or Vista, i would like to keep current but do not want to become overwhelmed by new technology. I am not a power user but did not find the older window operating system too challenging, the tasks i presently perform are pretty basic my question is given my age and experience level could i handle Vista or should i opt for the XP version.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI cannot download anything. everything looks to download correctly but the files are not to be found afterwards. the dialog box for "firefox downloads" has OPEN and OPEN CONTAINING FOLDER greyed out. last night i went into safe mode and ran avg, No virius found. went into IE and checked if downloads were disabled, they were not. I empied the private data in firefox, and ran disk clean up. even went as far as uninstalling firefox and checked the box to remove all user info (Lost all my bookmarks). nothing I have read about this problem has worked. please help. I cant even get pdf files, programs, pics, mp3. nothing at all comes through.

What ever I am downloading starts out ok and looks like it is going to finish the job. Suddenly the downloading stops never to go again. When I'm downloading something my internet stops working, downloads top and it says limited or no connectivity - so I have to disconnect from the network, unplug the USB Adapter and then re-plug it in and then it connects.
