Mar 3, 2009I want to connect my pc to my hd tv so i can watch blue-ray, what lead would i need to do this? plus the lead will need to be abot 12ft long?

Feb 18, 2009Please could you help. I have a Hitachi 26" HDTV that I have connected to my PC via a HDMI - DVI cable + stereo jack. The picture is fantastic bit I have no sound at all. I have connected up using RGB cable, sound is fine. I have asked around and apart from people trying to sell me extra cables costing £40-£50 I have not had much luck. I think I have 2 motherboard (sorry not very tech minded) one is M3A motherboard and the other is K10N78hSLI-GLAN. I have checked all setting etc, volume on all is up. I have Realtek High Definition Audio.

Feb 7, 2009I have been Googling for the past few days trying to find information about how to use a Vista Ultimate PC as a DVR. Specifically, I want to make it a dual-tuner over-the-air ATSC (DTV) DVR my ancient VCR. So far, the only TV tuner card I have found that mentions the ability to play back to a TV set is the Hauppauge WinTV-PVR-350 card, but it appears to be a single-tuner NTSC card. I need a dual-tuner ATSC so that I can record two DTV broadcasts over the air at the same time.
Either an internal card or USB device is fine. Is anyone out there doing this with a dual-tuner card or USB that can play back the recorded show to an HDTV? Apostrophes: when in doubt, leave them out! You will be correct more often

Furthermore, though there is in her "Slimline" one available slot provided to accept a "replacement" graphics card (for whichever model would have such a card) according to the manual, it will accept only "low profile" cards, and even at that they warn it still might not fit, so as to allow the inputs and outputs be exposed at the opening.
And since for her computer, this would not be a card replacement,those "cables" and plugs they refer to would be who-knows-where on the motherboard, or even hard-wired to it.
So now I'm wondering about something like this RGB to S-video

My friend is largely blind, but she can see images and text on a large screen. My question is this: would such a converter enable video output from her computer to a large 42" LCD HDTV--and if so, would the mouse function be operative on that large screen same as on the 19" LCD monitor that came with her computer? Most importantly, would she get a full 42" display of her desktop and applications?

Sep 23, 2008I would like to use my Vista Media Center as a DVR using a Media Extender. I have digital cable (Comcast). I would be using it just to watch recorded shows on my HDTV using a Media Extender and would not be watching TV on my PC. I want a HDTV tuner card that will record programs from my digital cable using Media Center Software, not proprietary software. Any HDTV tuner cards fit this bill? Can be PCI or USB cards (my PCIe is taken by my graphics card.).

Couldn't I just hook up my HDMI to my amp then another HDMI to the HDTV?? TaxCut will not register, will not update, and will not efile on Vista. I can open a browser and access the sites but no luck getting the programs to upload data with Vista. I was about to paper file my taxes when I tried my wife's computer with XP. May 3, 2010I moved into a new house and for some reason my computer won't recognize any networks.
All the obvious things have been taken care of (my computer is on etc etc, the wireless light is on etc etc I have other computers woring wirelessly on the same connection and so forth) and it just won't recognize any networks. I went into device manager to see what was going on with the WiFi. It tells me that I need to turn on my wireless, but it is on. I went in and tried to disable it and reenable it. My computer promptly froze. After I forced it to end task I went back to look at it. It tells me that my no drivers are installed for this device, but when I look at the drivers they are there. It also tells me that my invisible drivers are up to date. Little lost as to what is wrong with this piece of machinery.

If I type in my pc name "\jdesktopusers" it will pop up, but if I physically try and click on my computer's name in the network window it says \jdesktop is not accessible. Mar 31, 2009I While ago i connected My xp pc [client] to my vista pc, but just recently my xp PC just disappeared from the network, i tried reconnecting it back by following some guides that i found on Google but still i got nothing, So far My Vista pc can only see the xp PC trough the network map, but when i click on network it doesn't appear at all. I dont know if im doing something wrong or if one of my PC's is causing it. This is what i tried to reconnect them again so far:
XP:
1. Control panel > Network and internet connections > set up or change your home or small office network > run trough wizard name my PC and Workgroup name.
2. Right click my C: drive > sharing and security.. > select* share this folder.
Vista:
1. Turn on: Network discovery, File sharing, public folder sharing.
Turn off: Password protected sharing.
2. Right click* Computer > properties > change settings [under "PC name, domain...] > change workgroup name to same name as XP's.

Sep 29, 2008We bought a new dlink Gigabyte unmanaged switch,installed it and now the vista machines connects fine to the network but not to the internet. if i go ipconfig /release and /renew it works for a bit but then goes down again. Can't Connect To Wireless
Mar 27, 2008Is there something I'm missing with Vista and wireless, I have to different wireless networks and I now have a Vista laptop in each network that I can't connect to. All firmware/drivers is up to date on the laptop and the routers and I still can't get them to connect but I have no problem with the XP. Side note, I have had both laptops connected and surfing the Web and having access to network shares and what not but they have both since been dropped. I'd be happy to just focus on one of them.

Jan 10, 2008I work for a school district and I am having trouble with one Vista Machine. This is only one of two Vista machines in the entire district. The problem is that using IE7 we can not connect to webmail (gmail) provided by our ISP. We just recently transfered over to gmail and had no problems with email prior to it. All other staff in the district can connect and use email with no problems. On the Vista machine I can connect using a different browser, no problems. I have tried resetting all settings in IE7 to the defaults. I have tried compareing the settings with the other Vista machine that does work. I have tried running in safe mode with networking, running without add-ons, smashing it with a hammer(not really), nothing works.

Oct 24, 2009I only get this problem on two wireless networks, either the one at my home, or the one in my University house. I get intermittent internet, it cuts out, sometimes after 10 minutes, sometimes an hour, and the only way to get it back is by resetting the router, and running a diagnose + repair from Network and Sharing Centre and then by Resetting the Wireless Router, which doesn't always fix the problem. Sometimes I get a "Windows cannot connect to DNS Server" error, and sometimes it just fixes itself.

Aug 18, 2009My laptop (gateway) can connect to any network (public, private, wired or wireless) with no problem but no matter what it cannot connect to the internet. I've tried as much as possible but nothing resolves this error and my isp says because my other computers work fine they can't help me. I've recycled the router and the modem, tried to ping the router (unsuccessful), tried manually setting up my connection (ip address, dns, gateway), bought a new router (belkin enhanced wireless), bought a express card ethernet port, reset winsock, but nothing works! I honestly don't know what to do since this laptop didn't include a vista disc so i don't think i can wipe the hard drive and reinstall windows without paying for something i already have. If you need any further info just let me know i'll be checking my internet every hour as i'm at the end of my rope!
On the network connections page it shows an uninterrupted line to the network which it always says is unidentified (even networks with names) but there's always a red x preventing me from getting to the internet and when i do the auto repair and diagnose it tells me to call the isp or get help from a network administrator. This problem occured shortly after my norton 360 subscription ran out and i uninstalled it to install avira in it's place.
