Word & Excel:Add-Edit Toolbar&Buttons:Autocorrect To Excel Toolbar

May 10, 2008

How do I create a new toolbar? How do I edit the Toolbar Command Buttons (Icons?)? How do I create and add an Autocorrect (AC) Command Button to an Excel Toolbar? I HATE the ribbons, period? I LOVED the nice, neat, useful, and tiny toolbars I created and edited in the 2003 programs and this 'RIBBON' thing is the most obnoxious thing ever! I REALLY fell bad for those laptop dudes and dudettes, especially the 15" (or smaller) screens. I have a nice, new, big 19" and I find the useless and extravagant space requirements for the "Ribbon" (who came up with that one, anyway?) EXTREMELY ANNOYING..............

Copy Excel Doucument Into Word Doucment

Nov 23, 2009

I'm trying to copy (make as an icon) an excel document into a word document. *Steps I've tried (In word):*

1. Hit insert tab
2. Click on object button, then chose object
3. Click on Create from File tab
4. Hit Browse button, then I chose the excel document I wanted copied.
5. I have then tried Display as Icon

Didn't work. *I received error*: The program used to create this object is Excel. That program i snot installed on your computer. To edit this object, you must install a program that can open the object. I then tried not clicking Display as Icon, but still didn't work (received same error). I thought maybe I need to do a Windows Update, but that came back as no updates needed to be installed. I CAN open Excel, Vista. So that is why this is weird.

Word Or Excel "There Was A Problem Sending The Command To The Program."

Dec 3, 2009

Windows 2007. When I first logon and try to open a file by double-clicking it, the program (e.g Word or Excel) opens and gives a message "There was a problem sending the command to the program". Until I shut down again, double-clicking files works fine. I suspect this is Explorer-related. Does anyone know a fix?

Office Word 2007 Configuration Can't Work

May 24, 2008

Evidently there are many others who have the same problem since the forums have a lot of people writing to find a solution to this When opening Microsoft Word 2007 a Configuration window would pop up and it would take 40 to 90 seconds for the program to come up. It was worse then some of the Adobe programs.. I'm operating a Vista Ultimate 64x operating system and thought that might be the problem. Evidently it doesn't have anything to do with it. I have been trying for weeks to find the solution to the delay but have been unsuccessful. I checked the many sites Google brought up, checked out several forums and went through all the Microsoft Newsgroups to no avail. I finally found the solution. This is from http://uksbsguy.com/ The full URL is at the bottom of the message. I followed his instructions and IT WORKS!!!! He is evidently a Microsoft employee. This is his solution....How to get rid of the installer / configuration dialog when running Office 2007 and Office 2003 on the same system - for Vista and other versions of Windows

I have been asked this many times following up on the blog entry Installing Office 2003 and Office 2007 on the same system where once people have removed the problem with the End User Licensing Agreement (EULA) appearing every time they start Office they then get the dialogs below every time they switch between Word 2007 and Word 2003. when starting Word 2003 when starting Word 2007 The fix to the problem is very simple as it turns out - simply run the following commands (by pressing the Windows Key+R or typing it into the Start/Run command box. Use the line with Office11.0 if you have Office 2003 installed and Office12.0 if you have Office 2007 installed. You can use both if you have both installed : reg add HKCUSoftwareMicrosoftOffice11.0WordOptions /v NoReReg /t REG_DWORD /d 1.......

Powerpoint 2007 And 64

Jul 12, 2008

I just did a plain old save in powerpoint which saved my file as a .pptx, and for some reason this file does not associate itself with powerpoint. If I double click the .pptx file I get the "what program do you want to open with this" dialogue. I've tried browsing where it ought to live, and went as far as C:Program FilesMicrosoft OfficeOffice121033 without ever finding the executable. As of now the only way I can actually open these files is by opening powerpoint, then selecting open file, and opening the .pptx program.

Crushed Powerpoint At Some Stage

I am new to this forum and to Vista Ult64. Today I had a nightmare experience. I was running a standard PowerPoint 2007 presentation from my new HP laptop with Vista Ult64 connected to a standard projector and the laptop went very strange switching in and out of the presentation while the CPU was showing an extraordinary amount of activity (especially when I was playing short low res AVIs). It even crushed Powerpoint at some stage. At home when I am not connected to a projector all is well with no drama at all.

Change PowerPoint Application Defaults?

Nov 16, 2009

I’m using a PowerPoint 2007 application for digital image competitions at my local camera club. I do not know PowerPoint, except to run this application, which was developed by others. It reads files to build a slide show. There are a couple of default options that need changing with each execution. I’ve figured out how to change these settings, but I’d really like to just change the defaults.

1. Enable macros

2. Font size (filename that is displayed for winning slides). Please give complete “click here; click there” instructions.

Setting Default To Open Email Powerpoint Attachment

Aug 23, 2009

My system restore fails every time I attempt it. This has happened the last 3 times I had a need to attempt restore. (Three attempts separated by months in time, about different issues.) This time, I am thinking something may be wrong with my system restore function.

In this case, it is simply a matter of trying to roll back a browser update.

I saw a whole list of available restore points, and I went to the second one back - from only a few days ago. The restore failed.

I am using Windows Vista Home Premium, OEM from Gateway Laptop about 1.5 yrs old. I allow most updates.

Excel Read Only

My company has an Excel application we have developed and we use an Installer program to distribute it. The installer default is to install the program into a Program File that is named. This works flawlessly on xp but on any computer that has Vista installed, the file opens in Read Only, which defeats our entire application. The read only format can not be changed in any of the obvious ways (under Properties etc). This is a huge problem for us. Is there any way around it?

Can't Print From Excel

Aug 22, 2009

I am using Vista Home Premium and Office 2007 Home & Student. I am printing to a Brother HL-2070N using wifi. For some reason, I can't print from Excel. I can print from the Word and Powerpoint applications in the Office 2007 package, but not from Excel. It looks like it prints (i.e. a small window opens and it says it is printing) but nothing comes out of the printer. I have 2 other PCs with the same setup (except the one PC is on XP), all print from all three Office applications, so it must be something with this particular PC (a laptop).

I have complained to the company who did the reinstallation but the claim that it is a Microsoft probloem which has nothing to do with the reinstallation. I have reinstalled Office Enterprise 2007 with no effect. When the problem started I received a message from HP that it was due to selecting the Printer HP Photosmart C5180 as default. I have tried to make another printer default but it has no effect. The computer is a Lenovo Think Pad T-61.

Can't Do Excel Opens

May 3, 2009

I was always able to click on the clip for an attachment to open in Word or Excel and it opened immediately, without having to save the attachment. All of a sudden, I can't do rhat. When I click on it, Word or Excel opens, but it tells me it can't find the file. If I click on save attachments, it does that to my documents and then I can open it up. I "repaired" Office 2007, in case there was any glitch that happened with that, but it didn't change the situation - What might have happened, and how can I fix it so that attachments can open directly when I click on the clip on the e-mail.
