View 6 RepliesI've been using a BT Home Hub for some time. I want to enable UPNP on my router so I can host a server for a game called Blockland. I type bthomehub.home in my address bar and hit enter. Then I click Advanced Options. Then there is a button saying "Continue to Advanced Options..." so I click that button, and then And I don't know my username or password. Some say that both username and password are "admin" but it isn't. So how on earth do I fix this problem?

What are the things does pressing this reset button do, do you loose your favorites is the main thing.
I am not to bothered about loosing favorites in the favorites bar, and buttons that i have added.

I installed these myself and are custom OS's, im not sure if this has anything to do with the problem, but.. Once i installed XP, there was no options to boot into Vista. So in goes the Vista repair disk, and im back into Vista..and pretty soon id like to get back into XP ( My media centre, editing, creating videos, and playing games, and doing things non-vista compatable) but i dont want to have to recover my damn computer everytime. Btw ive tried other sites and forums before bothering you guys.

View 9 Replies View RelatedHow many processor will Vista take advantage of? I'm using Windows Vista Ultimate. Will it handle 8 processors? or 2 quad processors?
View 8 Replies View RelatedI don't know if this was asked before, please forgive me if this is just a repeat. I am new in the forum.
Does 64bit machines (Dual Processors or Quad etc) need a 64bit Vista to maximize its capabilities? I noticed that new PCs and Laptops shipped today have pre-installed Vista but 32bit OS . . . why is this? Or does it really matter? Please explain this puzzling mystery to a non-techie like me.
I'm trying to run multiple instances of a single (statistical) application on an Intel i7 machine so the instances can take advantages of all the processors. I have one wrinkle where I hope all the experts here would be able to help out. This application uses an MS Access db where all the data is stored. Ideally, it would be great if Vista and i7 would parallel process one instance of the app and the single db across all the processors. But after reading what multiple processors really means for today's apps, I realize that multiple processing/threading is an application issue. This is a statistical application that's not programmed for multi-processnig/threading.
So far, I was able to run two instances of the app against the single db. One instance as the admin user (I'm not sure if my terminology is correct) and another as admin. This is within the same user account. Both instances run different statistics against the same db on different processors. So i'm maximizing two processors.
Now can the experts out there tell me how I could launch two more instances of that app while still using the same db? I tried launching a third within the admin user accout but it said one instance already running. So I tried launching the third as admin but again said instance running. I also created another user account and ran it but it couldn't open the existing db. It need another db. I tried running as admin and still same.
I have just purchased Halo 2 for Microsoft Windows Vista. It runs but there is one problem......It runs choppy when in a room with multiple people or a lot of "action". I have the graphics turned as low as possible and the screen resolution all the way down too. One thing i did notice is that when running the game it only runs off one of my Intel Pentium Core 2 processors. My questions is: Does anyone know how to fix the problem? Is there a way to split the work load between both processors?

View 7 Replies View RelatedFor the past week I have been working with IoBit in testing various betas of Advanced Windows Care. Finally after many unreleased betas, I now have Advanced Windows Care working with Vista x64. I would say that it won't be too long before they release the final version of Advanced Windows Care that is compatible with x64. I consider Advanced Windows Care to be a great all in one program and after I had problems with their beta, I offered to test for them.

View 7 Replies View RelatedWindows Vista includes a two-way firewall that has outbound filtering disabled by default. Why? The best explanation that I got was that it was too complicated for end-users to use so they had that feature turned off as well as hidden. In fact, it is hidden so well that many users may think that the two-way firewall was yet another feature that was pulled from the final product. While that is true for other features the two-way firewall made it into the final product, you just need to know how to find it.
To get started, just click on the Start Button and key in wf.msc and hit Enter. This will bring up the comprehensive Windows Firewall with Advanced Security management interface. Here you will be able to configure rules for incoming as well as outgoing connections.
Make sure that you set the default action for outbound connections from allow to block. Otherwise the outbound firewall will be useless because it will allow all connections. This can be done from the Windows Firewall Properties link found on the main screen of the management interface.
When I first powered up my new Dell Inspiron 1420, it asks for a user name. It stores it as the administrator user name. I changed it under user profiles, but when I go to "user accounts" and click on the "configure advanced user profile" tab on the left, it shows the original name I had entered upon startup. Is there a way to change it to what I want it to be?
View 5 Replies View Relatedi have recently bought a Toshiba L500 (Australian model) and played for awhile and have realised the number 1 keys is hard to push, so when i press it down mutiple 11111111111111111111 appear and becomes stuck and when i un-jig it, it stops and pushing down is harder than the surrounding numeric numbers so it definitely indicates something is wrong. (top row of numbers) can it be fixed at a service center or go back and get a new 1, or are there other options?

Press F2 to run
Press F11 to boot menu
Auto detecting PRI Master Atapai CDROM.
It then went to reboot and select proper boot device or insert boot media in selected boot device and press a key. I went into the BIOS to change the boot order and inserted my Vista home premium 32bit. I then got windows is loading in files. After a short while I got the black start up screen with Microsoft Corporation but after a few seconds it just froze. Moments later it went to a blue screen with white writing part of which said the following; A PROBLEM HAS BEEN DETECTED AND WINDOWS HAS BEEN SHUT DOWN TO PREVENT DAMAGE TI YOUR COMPUTER.
When I go to a folder and do a right mouse click and go to properties it will show me the number of files I have but not the number of subfolders. How can I find out how many subfolders I have?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have been using my PC for a few months, and it needed to get sent in to a techie a week or so ago who swapped around some hardware trying to fix a problem. After it came back, but before I turned it on, I installed a new RAM stick. When I turn it on it needs to be activated straight away. Sure, I thought, major hardware change, I will just activate it again, like I phone activated before. But I can't activate. When I try and get it to phone activate, the screen comes up with the number to ring, and a space to type in my 'confirmation ID' given to me by the phone service. But to get my 'Confirmation ID' I need to give an 'Installation ID to the phone service, and I don't have an 'Installation ID'. I cannot activate by internet either, My PC doesn't have internet access. I put in a dial up modem, but whenever I try to set up an internet connection, I just get cryptic errors. I should add that I can't do anything on the PC in the meantime, every time I start up I just get this problem.
View 9 Replies View RelatedJust obtained new Owner Version of Ultimate (32 and 64). It says 3 different installs allowed. I wish to use it on 2 hard drives in same computer, one 64 bit, one 32 bit for testing our AutoCAD Addin Sofware. Will likely re-do the current 64 install (done by this owned package) to 32 (as 64 is on the new & larger drive, a mistake on my part), then install 64 again, but on smaller hard drive. This has me concerned as to how MS views the number of installs (limitted number), especially as within the same computer, same basic configuration.
1. Will I soon run out of my allowed installs, or will they be considered as just one as is on same machine??
2. Does MS have any problem with 2 installs active on one computer (separate hard drives)?
