Every game I have crashes. It doesn't happen all the time and it is completely random. It doesn't crash when I'm not playing a game. When it crashes my game the last sound I heard just continuously loops and it won't let me alt+tab or ctrl+alt+del and I have to do a hard reset. This didn't happen with Vista 32 bit with the same hardware. I love 64 bit Vista and I would really hate to have to go back to 32 bit if at all possible.
Yes, that's right, another problem with punkbuster and Vista =/ After say, 25-30 mins of gameplay on battlefield 2142 pressing the esc key crashes the game, so does a map change. Also after 45 or so mins the game crashes anyway. If either of these crashes happen My comp gets a complete recourse lock up and I have to restart it via the button. It worked fine when I had xp but since getting a vista comp this is what happens
This problem might have already be addressed but looking through 142 pages for a thread about this is a bit too much lol. I've recently wanted to start playing 2142 again but it's kinda hard when it keeps crashing all the time, when I'm in the middle of destroying the enemy Titan >_>
I finally decided to upgrade to Vista, and since I have 4GB ram I thought I'd give 64bit a shot. Every game I play crashes, or fails to load at all, or gets into the game and crashes during map load. I have Vista Ultimate 64 installed. I have installed and re-installed the OS multiple times to no effect. I've downloaded all of the windows updates. During one of my first installs of vista, I was able to get in to games of codwaw, but then it would crash after about 5 secs.......
I can sucessfully load up the game and all however whenever i try to join a multiplayer game(says "Joining Server... then crashes" or finish loading a single player game(after the textures are loaded or the shaders it just crashes) OR whenever i click audio in settings my game(right after i click audio it just goes boom) just crashes back to desktop with the BF2142.exe error. I've read about many different crashes with other people but this seems different, people have had crashes during map changes, splash screen, and a few secs after joining the server, havent seen anyone with my problem of crashing when i see the "joining server.." box.
I've tried 1)reinstalling/repatching 2)run the exe as admin. 3)disable UAC and reinstall/repatch after restart
Im pretty sure my computer can handle the game, my old one did fine and this one owns it. Im kind of lost, I've tried many things and this freaking game just doesnt want to work.
i am trying to play a game but it will crash not every time but at some point in the game it will go down this is the msg i get can anyone help me out i have updated my vid drivers nvida GF 9300 Ge driver ver

Back it all up: The Business, Enterprise, and Ultimate editions of Windows Vista include the Complete PC Backup feature. It allows you to save an image backup of your system drive (and, optionally, other drives as well), which you can restore in a matter of minutes if you need to recover from a hardware failure or a software mess. Data file backups: Windows Vista gives its new Backup utility star billing. For Home Basic and Home Premium editions, you can choose file-based backups based on file types and save your selection for reuse. Back up on a schedule: The final step of the Backup program encourages you to create a schedule for automated backups. The first one you create is a full data backup; subsequent runs are incremental, backing up only files that are new or changed since the last backup. There ya go. Backup your vista before it crashes!
I've got a Gateway FX7026 pc. 24" lcd monitor Q9300 quad cpu 2.5ghz nvidia gf 8800 512mb 4gb ram
I can't play Quake wars enemy territory, can't play cyris, battlefield 2 demo won't work. All these are demo. Age of empires 3 and war chiefs work just fine.
in the games that don't work they will eventually lock up after a minute to 3 minutes. you also see tons of weird very fast moving lines all over the screen. not sure how to describe it. can take a screenshot if possible.
Temp is fine im sure as is ram etc.
is this a video card being dead issue or what could it be? i am guessing hardware cus this happens in more then one game and the same thing and it happens in both vista and xp. i have prebuilt with the pc it came with vista home premium sp1 64bit and i installed on the second hard drive xp sp3 pro and both oses and the same games have the same issues.
I installed newest nvidia 64bit drivers for vista and the issue still happened.
I'm totally clueless here. My guess is i'll have to take it where I got it for a replacement which is fine as i'm under warranty for 2 total years from when i bought this pc a few months ago.
doing a recovery on the pc doesn't help either. I'm also not running any software other then the game.
i don't have any other issues on the pc, just these ones mentioned in here.
I have purchased a new PC, Vista-ready, and I was wondering, if it crashed, will I lose the OS? It didn't come with the Vista CD. So when my PC crashes, does it automatically bring Vista back? Sorry if I used the wrong choice of words, I'm not a pro.
I hope this is the right place to post this question.. Well, basically i installed almost 5000 fonts couple days back. But now, photoshop just crashes whenever i'm trying to add text. I suspect it's got to do with the massive amount of fonts i installed. So here's my Q.. Is there anywhere i could download Vista's default fonts? All of them.. I'm not going through the whole font folder to try and make out which ones are default and which ones are added by me. It's going to take forever to do that.. So if i'm able to download the default fonts, i'll just do a mass delete of all fonts and install the defaults.. So anybody could assist me with that....
I recently got The Godfather (The Game) for pc. It wouldn't (message appears - The godfather.exe has stopped working) and wouldn't run. I tried a few fixes (change movies to _movies, run as admin, compatibility set to xp sp2) and none of them worked. I'm wondering now if it just doesn't work on Vista Home Premium x64.
I keep having desktop crashes where the desktop disappears because windows explorer or word crashes leaving me with the only option to reboot how do I solve this
I just recently updgraded to Vista Home Premium about a week ago, and I have hit a major problem: any game on Vista has problems rendering objects, with misplaced or missing parts of objects all over the place. Everything else on Vista runs fine. As you can see, basically anything that requires 3d rendering has this problem. I've got the latest certified Nvidia drivers, the latest directX update from the download centre, and also the latest sound card drivers. i have tried to update to SP1 to see if that fixes it, but I cannot install SP1 for some reason.
I am tring to play a game with my GF via a network. I cannot setup one with her. I have windows Vista home edition premeium and she has xp pro. I want to play a C&C game with her. We both have a wireless adaptor and i also have the cat-5 wire.
my dad just bought me this computer its a e machines EL1300G-01W its rating is 3/10... He's not very good with computers so he didn't know..he thought he'd buy me a 298$ desktop and I'd be happy.. I can't open Emulators for (SNES, NES, DS, ETC...) I can't play anything on Yoyogames... with small programs it gets 100% CPU Usage.. My computer model is un-upgradable.. I can only upgrade the ram..thats about it...it only has one PCI 1 slot and not enough room for my new graphics card that needs a PCI-Express 16x slot.. What the hell do I do with this?? My dad won't bring it back for a refund... It is better then my other computer but it still lags like crazy..
I have an issue with Vista Home Premium. I was attempting to run the Upgrade Advisor (running Vista Home Premium) and it crashes. Is this normal behavior?
the game has installed but once tryin to load it says this
Error3:
Your system does not meet the minimum requirements for ( The game) (suberror 7). Your video card must support hardware acceleration and have at least 15 megabytes of video Ram available. i fyour video card doesnt support compressed textures it must have at least 64 megabytes if video RAM available.
I have tried going into the display settings and advanced settings then troubleshooting but my computer does not allow me to change it as the icon is grayed out.
the details of my graphics card are
operating system: windows vista tm home premium (6.0, build 6001)
I need to run some very special old game programs in a compatible gwbasic modern Vista home premium labtop. It would be ashame for these funny and entertaining programs to be lost for ever. The book is called computer monsters by Stephen Manes and Paul Somerson. By scholastic inc I typed one of the books program on a cd a person instaled the old GWbasic and I was sad to see it wouldn't run. It was frooze completely. I beleave these book game authors are out of buisness. Where do I go from here?
I have installed civ 4 with the warlords expansion pack on my vista home edition premium 6.0. Install went smoothly. When trying to launch the game i get this error message: This application has failed to start because D3DX9_32.DLL was not found. Re-installing the applicatio n may fix the problem. I have tried re-installing with no luck.
Microsoft then tells me that the problem is with directx 9 and gives me a link to update the end user run-time installer. Which sounds like a perfect and easy fix.Turns out that no matter what version or update i try to install I am screwed. I get this error message upon the initializing phase of the install: An internal system error occured: Please refer to the dx.error log or the Dx.log in your windows folder.
As i said it does not matter what version of directx i try to update i get the same message. Can I not play Civ 4 on vista? I have heard maybe the compatibility mode might fix but I am unsure how exactly to do that right. I have tried a few times...Also spent hours on the phone with game support
Just got Vista (32). Battlefield 1942 expansion installed fine. runs for a second or 2 then crashes. Tried to reinstal, same thing. Came up with (game failed, game closing)?
Vista is constantly freezing up, and I really like to fix it, The cooling is good enough, The power is good enough, And the memory seems fine since I already did a memtest. It freezes at random times while doing things like browsing the web or playing a game, Ive used XP before and it had the same problem
I installed SS2 on this PC (runs windows vista home premium 32bit), but sadly the game won't run correctly. I've looked around a little bit, and I see that not watching the videos is a common problem. But that's not my main problem <:/ I can run the game just fine for about 30 seconds... suddenly, it just freezes. The last sound is looped, and the mouse is frozen.
I am using windows vista ultimate x64, and in random times when i am playing some games like worldd of warcraft, oblivion, PES 2009 etc. the computer freezes and the screen becomes full of squares of the last image i saw before the computer crashed (like: if i was casting a spell in world of warcraft i would see that very screen but with little squares, can't really describe it as it's weird). I tried re-installing video drivers and i made sure they are for x64 vista version. My computer spec is:
Graphics Card: ATI RV770 [Radeon HD 4870] Audio: Sound Blaster X-Fi Platinum CPU: Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU E8600 @ 3.33GHz Motherboard: ASUS P5Q DELUXE RAM: 4GB (2x2GB) DIMM DDR Synchronous 800 MHz (1.2 ns)
I'm new to this forum, but I already some topics that are of some interest to me. I tried to find a solution for my problem, but I couldn't find any... I try to play Warcraft III and Fifa 09 and they bouth crash...Fifa verry fast and Warcraft in 10-15 minutes. The problem is identical - my computer freezes and some pixels go bannanas....i have the latest graphic card driver, recently installed latest DirectX and still no sollution... I used the System Info Tool from this forum, and atached the .txt to this post.
I am new in this forum and would like to have your opinions in a problem that I have. Currently I just purchased a new Dell XPS 730, and I did a clean install of Vista Ultimate 64. However, it crashes everytime I am playing games or watching DVD. I have also installed the latest Nvidia driver and directX
i have no idea how much information ya'll will need, so i'm gonna try to put as much as i can. forgive me if its too much. in short, while playing company of heroes my system randomly locks up, loops the last sound (usually gunfire) and the monitor goes completely white, olive/green, or blue. this usually happens after about an hour of playing. i read up on the problem, and found out that many people were having the same trouble i was. i've tried turning off dx10 and changing all of the visuals to 'high' (no ultra) which apparently has cured many other peoples' coh crashes...but it hasn't cured mine. to make matters worse, my system just crashed for the first time outside of coh today, while i was watching Internet. once again, an audio loop, and a wsod.
people have said that installing dx9 is the way to go, but that seems silly to me...and whats the deal with all these new colors of death? is microsoft trying to be a bit more colorful these days, or do they mean something? now, i wasn't really concerned about the crashes until it happened when i was surfing the web---these crashes had never happened during my marathon sessons of farcry2, or outside of coh...until today.......
I bought FM 2009 and today I finaly received it. But everty time I try to launch FM 2009 with Steam my PC crashes and turns into a blue screen with some text. it says delete the software which you just used. so I tryed to delete FM 2009 but I got the same message. some more info:

About 2 months ago I installed Vista Ultimate 64-bit on my PC. About 2 weeks ago it starting rebooting sometimes when I open something like an image file or even Internet Explorer. It doesn't happen evey time and only happens about once a day (but only when I go to open something). I want to figure this out so that I don't lose any data or end up with some data corruption. I have run the Windows memory diagnostic tool and it didn't find any issues. The only event in the Event viewer that even related to the issue, was an event logged after it finished rebooting that stated the PC was shutdown improperly.
Its been about 3 months now since i've been using vista and unlike my previous experience with other OS vista 64 is the worst of all........It crashes alot comparing to other OS and also it has a lot of incompatibly issues by that i mean here is a problem i am having nowdays with this Vista thingy OS. I already have .netframe 3.5 installed and still this application as well as some other works smoothly on other OS crashes on Vista. And due to these regurlar basis problem i think i might wanna give up and install either Linux or Ubuntu.
