I am using an HP a1700n with Vista Home Premium. I cannot for the life of me figure out why my SD card reader will not read any cards. All of my drivers are up-to-date (I believe... I'm not sure exactly which device I am looking for in device manager). I downloaded and installed what I was told might be a fix (Texas Instruments PCIxx 20), to no avail. I would hate to have to buy an external card reader when I have a 9-in-1 built-in... and assuming I did, if this is a Vista problem, no guarantee even that would work
View 8 Replies View RelatedI know that they are planning to release the GTX200 series on a new 55nm Fab. and that they will probably release a GTX260b and 280b. or some people are saying a 300 and 320. or something like that.
So does anyone have some links, or good info, other than some 1 liners saying that NV is planning to make them. Like any release dates. or what not. I've heard that they are going to silently release them RIGHT after ATI releases there new 4870x2 and they are going to drop some "Good" new 55nm cards that will be very competitive yet single card solution.
the 4870x2 is supposed to be out August 12-13th give or take. So hopefully we see some NV Green soon after that. or the next day would sure rain on there parade.
i recevd a sli macine and software. it was locked up so i formated and
reinstaled vista ultimate.
if i have windows cd in it will but but if i try to boot from HDD it says
"NTLDR is mising". what dose that mean?

I got an ASUS M51 laptop 2 years ago with Vista Ultimate 32. I felt pretty good about the machine, until I connected a second LCD monitor with DVI connection. Connecting with VGA port had no crash problem, but I prefer using DVI with a HDMI/DVI cable. Using non-Aero theme had no problem.
Occasionally the system reported graphic card driver crashed and tried to recover. Sometimes the system recovered, more often not, leading to total crashing of Windows.
Surely I did the following:
1. Reinstall the latest graphic drivers.
2. Reinstall the latest ASUS splendid utilities.
3. Keep Windows patches updated.
4. Install and uninstall some Windows hot fixes, as suggested by some newsgroups' posts.
5. Many other methods.
None worked. So I gave up Aero for almost a year. Until I read a post when searching for answer about mysterious disappearing of desktop icons when the desktop is refreshing sometimes. The post had the finger pointed to Power4Gear eXtreme. For some reasons, the default settings of Miscellaneous power settings of the Quite Office profile will hide desktop icons. After changing the setting to No, the desktop icons stay still forever. And the Windows graphic driver crashing occurred less often.
As the crashing still happened, so I uninstalled ASUS Splendid utilities. And crashing of graphic driver never come back.
installed this yesterday in cpu and vista x64 home premieum didnt detect it.. the odd thing was i put install cd in and it gave me this error message no xfx product found go online for the latest driver.. that didnt work i downloaded the latest driver for vista x64 and when it oipened it said it wouldnt run because that card wasn't found...i checked my device manager and it showed no display adapter like before when my radeon graphics card was in.. i had my monitor plugged in to it i had a pic albeit not crystal clear but yet windows didnt detect it.. i also went into the bios to make sure that pci express was checked.. i know it was installed properly wondering what the deal is... would really like to get a better graphics card in with cuda aceleration...
View 8 Replies View RelatedI purchased a HP Laptop with Vista and have had an HP Printer. After 17-documented hours with HP Tech Support and now my 3rd Replacement Printer, It still doesn't work right. After working properly for a "few days" it is now only printing partial pages. Printing will omit some text but prints other parts. I have been told by HP that its a WINDOWS problem/bug that they won't fix. I was told the configuration in the Operating System via the Rediscovery Service through Administrative Tools would require a computer person to fix it. Their tech. support supposedly did that with me (took 2 hours) and he promised my problem was solved. I am now experiencing the same problem. HP blames Windows and Windows Blames HP. I work from home and I need my printer to work. Often times, the printer shows offline and won't print at all. You'd think 2 HP Products would work seemlessly together. Fraid not. Any solutions? I have installed and reinstalled the original cd for the printer and that temporarily cures the problem. There has to be a glitch somewhere.

View 4 Replies View Relatedwhen i upgraded my vista business to vista ultimate full retail, it stopped half way through, so i had to do a clean install instead. when i booted my windows and looked on the c drive there were a series of folders with strange names. i suspect this is backups from the upgrade which failed, i rescued my files i needed out of the folders, and tried to delete the ones the upgrade left behind but it wont let me. How do i delete them?

I had downloaded the vista driver software from the Lexmark web site *cjb3500-4500en.exe* - it installs the software but cant find the vista driver. I have tried a clean uninstall, reinstalling the drivers, installing the drivers manually with add printers, and nothing has worked!!! also restored the vista to a before point and reinstalled still no use.

Mine keeps cutting out randomly, I think iTunes may be the most guilty (usually happens whenever I stop/pause then resume my sound dies). Before the patch I figured out a way to get around it about 75% of the time, I would just close iTunes and any sound/media based program and re-launch them and it would work again. But now it seems that that does not work anymore

I had to cut the power to turn the computer off and have been unable to boot up. Every attempt to boot fails and ends with the same line.

I have just bought a new one and used it in a camera. The camera confirms that there are saved photos on the card but when I connect it to the SD slot on the computer nothing seems to happen. I do notice a green light appears next to the slot on the computer as if it is reading something, but, having left it for 10 mins, nothing else has happened.
I use USB memory sticks for backup. I wonder if I should be using SD cards? My PC has slots for both. I have used SD cards in my camera, but never in my pc. Does anyone know how they compare in terms of speed and cost per gigabyte?

My video card was acting up so I decided to purchase a BFG GTX 275 896mb GDDR3 and picked up a 900w power supply. Then as I was installed it, I noticed that my PSU said something about being SLI ready and I looke up on to that. Can my computer dual run 2 different cards? An ASUS GTX 260 and a BFG GTX 275?

I have recently installed a ATI Radeon HD 4670 into my computer, I downloaded the latest ATI Catalyst driver from the ATI website and it installed the latest driver for both of the video cards, after it restarted I get this error message in the device manager for the ATI Radeon HD 4670:
Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware because a previous instance of the device driver is still in memory. (Code 38)
I checked in the device manager and it says it has the same wddm driver version for both devices, I have tried installing many times but it continues to presist, is this a Windows Vista or ATI issue? Is there anything I can do to fix it?

I build my own PC and install 2 x 8600GTS NVidia graphic card as my motherboard(ASUS M2N-SLI DELUXE) allowed it.Unfotunatly each time I click on "SLI" (recommended) my pc freezes. I have to turn it off ,take off the SLI connector and restart it this happening for about 6 months now.Of course I join the "SLI NVidia Forums Zone" straight away and I am still waiting for an answer.

The problem is device manager doesn't show the second installed graphics card.

4Gb ram
8800 Ultra
7600GT (This is the card i added)
Basically it recognizes the 8800 Ultra only. I have read that to use dual cards with Vista they need to use the same drivers (169.25), which they do. Even if that wasn't the case shouldn't the graphics card show in device manager regardless?
Is there something about Vista and dual graphics that i am missing?
The 7600GT functions fine, (tested in another computer) so i am at a loss here.
I got MoBo ASUS P5N32-SLI Premium running Vista Ultimate 32bit on Core 2 Duo Processor. Recently I got another Graphic Card ATI Radeon X1900XTX 512MB PCI-e which I already have one. So, I plan to use the two X1900XTX cards on my system. I already checked the cards but found it has no connection to enable the so-called SLI bridge to connect the two cards.
1. Is there any way for me to use the 2 cards on my PC (crossfire/SLI)?
2. Does the crossfire dongle will make the 2 cards works?
3. Any new tech that enable crossfire with non-SLI cards?
I've got 2 displays atached to my ATI X1950XT wich has 2 DVI connectors. Now the thing is that I would like to install a third display using my second graphic card ( NOTE! its different ) its a old PCI with only one vga but how do I install it in VISTA? Does Vista support multiple graphic drivers?
