Wont Remove Net/connection From Computer - Regedit Has No Access?
Mar 3, 2005
I have a old "bellsouth" connection to a now non-existance modem listed in NETWORK CONNECTIONS. This connection randomly pops up to attempt to connect when surfing via FF1.0I have attempted to remove the regedit PCI section, but it disallows removal via "no access to removal". Even attempted them in safe mode.I need to have this removed as it is massively annoying. As far as I can tell, removal of these regedit entries will remove the graphic in NETWORK CONNECTIONS and thus remove this pop up.
I have a question if someone can answer it for me. I have a laptop running windows xp and i want to access it from my university computer to do programming n stuff. I am using my landlords wireless connection. I tried to use the windows xp remote desktop connection but i think due to the firewall settings of the router, it won't let me conect to it. I was wandering if there is a way to connect to my computer without asking my landlord to change some setting in the router or something.
I have this software called SWF Sound Automation Tool, whenever I uses windows movie maker when I click on audio file, something pops up saying windows want to configure swf sound automation tool, and then it pops up some kind of error saying cannot write value to key etc, and I need to do cancel on the pop up and sometimes it hangs. Then my norton protection will pop up saying it blocks a trojan horse.
I tried to delete the software from control panel-remove software it doesn't work, then I do regedit and delete the entry in the uninstall area, however the control panel area still shows this software but it does not give remove button there anymore. However the problem still exists and hangs my movie maker! And I have no where to delete anything anymore, why this stupid software never goes away!
1.Click on "Start", then "Run.." and type "regedit". 2.Navigate to the registry key: "HKEY_CURRENT_USERControl PanelDesktop". 3.Once there, locate the DWORD value "PaintDesktopVersion". 4.Right click on it and select Modify.-Value equal to "0" removes Windows version from desktop.-Value equal to "1" adds Windows version to desktop. 5.Reboot your computer.
In Device Manager, under "Network Adapters", its got the following: Dlink Air plus which is my IE connection, and "Intel(R)PRO/100 VE Network Connection" - OK, I have tried to uninstall the Intel(R)PRO/100 VE Connection through the uninstall process the DM provides, but everytime I restart the computer, the system reinstalls it back on my system - I do not use the Intel(R)PRO/100 VE Connection Network, just the Dlink, and I am wondering if and how I can permenatly remove the intel PRO connection entirely from my computer, so that in my network connections, it will only show the Dlink and not the Intel Pro but also so that my computer won't detect the intel Pro upon restart and reinstall it again.
Suddenly I cannot access IE or Firefox. A double click does nothing. I am using a Dell C-521pc with Win Xp as OS. The cable connection is OK (it glows) and I have tried all control panel operations I am aware of. I have tried RESTORE 3 times but the computer will not restore seemingly at any date. All other applications work OK and my e-mail w/Outlook Express works OK. Problem appears common to both FF and IE browzers. I am using another household computer to access this website. Any helpful suggestions will be appreciated
i cannot access my "regedit" on run,it will alert me "this program has been disable by administrator" and restart automatically..i cannot access"msconfig" on run,it also restart automatically..my folder option also gone.i have hidden file n now i cannot open it anymore because my folder option gone..i already try to find it but still cannot find..what should i do..??i think it was a virus attack because there's one ie file in "My Picture" name "brontok.a[10]" and even i delete it,it will back again to the folder..i already try to remove it using Microsoft & McAfee antispyware,McAfee antivirus,Norton antivirus but still no change.
I've been trying to help a friend by using the remote access feature in XP. We have tried several times but it keeps denying us saying could not establish connection after recieving the request in the email. We both turned off firewalls off and are both on at the same time. The only difference is I'm cable and he's dialup.
I have done some reading up on the internet, but I am still slightly confused about the full capabilities of a Virtual Private Network (VPN).I set my home desktop up to be a VPN server and connect my laptop to the VPN. Now, can I access my home network through any internet connection? Also, I use TightVNC for a remote desk connection. When I am connected to the VPN through any random internet connection, can I use this to remote access my desktop?
WinXP SP3; A limited account is unable to access the internet via wireless connection unless an administrator account has logged on to the wireless network. Works Ok after administrator account has logged on and established link. Our church wants to set up a computer in our library for visitors to use to access the internet. A hard wire connection to the router works with the Visitor Limited Account without the Administrator account being logged on. Running a hard wire CAT5 cable to the library isnt an option. The computers wireless adapter is Belkin G Plus MIMO USB adapter. The DSL Modem/Router is a Siemens SE 567.
Generic Host Process Crash So I have this problem and it's been driving me crazy for some time now. It seems that "randomly" when I lose connection to my wireless access point, I will get a Generic Host Process for Win32 crash. I have disable the forced shutdown that usually occurs after this happens, but since it renders the system mostly unusable, I have to reboot anyway. What's odd is that it doesn't happen every time I lose connectivity to the network.
I'm trying to create some more free space on my computer, but when I try to access add/remove programs, the window goes blank and freezes up so I can't even close it.
Whenever I try to get to the add/remove windows components menu in add/remove programs, it gives me this error message:Setup was unable to open information file comnt5.inf.Contact your system administrator. The specific error code is 0x2 at line 2088999411.The application could not be initialized.
When I click this option in my Start menu on my Dell Dimension 2400 with Windows XP Service Pack 2 I get a Add or Remove Programs window that gives me three choices: Microsoft Windows, Non-Microsoft and Custom. I cannot get the Microsoft Windows option to set because it stays set in the Custom option. When I click on the Microsoft Windows option and then click OK it will automatically go back to the Custom option.I have tried clicking and unclicking the Microsoft Windows options in the Custom tab but it does no good.
Unfortunatly, a major thunderstorm passed thru my area and my computer was shut down hard and when I brought it up Windows was trashed, missing system files, some noise about disk-drive errors, etc. So I had to install Windows on another drive on the system. I can copy files from anywhere on the drive to the new windows drive except for "my documents" WEHRE OF COURSE Visual Studio Projects, Word documents, IPod, etc, everything, my important stuff is being kept being kept. The message I get is "Access is denied"
When I bring the system up in Safe Mode with networking and look at the security permission tab for that folder I see that my SID Is not there. When I try and add it (my user ID) it validates it and it looks like I can now have access to it, great, but when I click apply the response is "media is write protected" cannot apply permission changes. When I try and copy a file from my new windows drive to the original I get the message Drive is write protected
Try to defrag it from new windows - same message Try to repair it from new windows - same message
Can anyone tell me where I could find this media write protect switch and where to change it. Windows XP, NTFS all drives, SCSI
I have 2 users that need to access things on each others computer from 87 miles away. Both computers are behind routers and both are running windows xp pro. They need to use their computers at the same time.
After long periods of my internet connection being idle (2+ hours usually), all programs requiring internet access are unable to connect. By idle I mean I leave to run some errands with no programs other than Zone Alarm running. My DSL modem still has all lights flashing and active. There are a couple other scenarios where this occurs as well. Ex. I'm playing WoW for extended periods but not using the internet through any other program, then upon alt-tabbing no other applications are able to connect to the internet even though WoW is still connected and functioning. Rebooting the router/modem doesn't fix it, but rebooting the comp does.
I have a Compaq armada, op is windows xp. My earthnet connetion is at 100mbps. When i surf the web my web page takes about 5 minutes to daownload. I have Ran Spybot s & d, and antivir guard, for viruses and spyware.
My computer is connected through the internet through a router and dsl modem which have worked in the past.During the past two days the internet connection has deteriorated on the XP computer but has stayed the same for the win98 computer eliminating suspicion from the isp.Downloading files for updates, logging into websites etc. is not working unless connected directly to the internet through the modem and sometimes that doesn't even work.I tried running the Norton Anti-Virus scanner but it said it was missing components and when I tried to reinstall the installation failed. I was luckily able to download a free scanner from the internet and ran it on reboot and found 53 various Trojan files infecting to be what i thought useless files. After the scan and deletion the internet still does not work. The problem is i can't repair internet explorer because everything on XP is integrated with the internet and getting updates from the internet is impossible, even system file checker doesn't work without access to the internet.A viable culprit in my mind would be the Norton Internet Security program that comes along with Norton Anti-Virus, which changed internet settings on installation and in the past would not allow the internet to work without it at least on and disabled.I am also missing the .dll files iecont and iecontlc.
My DSL is connected but my computer stops recognizing it whenever it feels like it. There are no errors and nothing happens to indicate that it just stopped recognizing it, but when I click a link or Internet Explorer it gives me the "Can not connect to this page" or send me to my ISP's modem page, which shows that I'm connected. I've been on the phone with Bellsouth and they say that it's not them. I've also still had this problem even though I disconnected all Firewall and Norton Internet Security for a few days.
i just got a couple viruses, my antivirus isnt working out very well, i just installed norton which doesnt think im connected to the internet so i cant get the new virus deffs. Anyways, i need to get these off my coputer because they load many pop ups as well as starting me at odd start pages. i ran ad-aware, spyware blaster, search and destroy and cwshredder...it remain
For some reason for the last 3 days my internet connection has gotten worse and worse i just reformated and reinstalled windows i have a linksys router and 2 computers hooked up to it and one playstation 2 for online gaming i looked at the setup online at 192.168.1.1 and it says i have 2 clients one at 192.168.1.100 and 192.168.1.102 mine is at 102 is there a reason it skips over 101 because mine use to be 100 and the other computer 101 why is it now 102?
I had accidentally created a LAN connection, disabled, removed it, and had discovered the Internet Connection Sharing had disappeared, under the advanced tab of "Wireless Internet Connection". I have looked, and looked for a solution to this problem but can not find one. I had found a workaround, tried it, but it just caused my computer to freeze up.
This is weird and perplexes me and everyone I ask: My computer doesn't have anything that seems like a major performance problem, but it does one funny thing. I have SBC Yahoo DSL and use the modem and ethernet card they sent me, as well as a Linksys Ethernet Firewall Router. (I only have one computer; the router is just for security.) What's weird is that every time I boot my computer, there is a better-than 50% chance that there will be no Internet connection. When I look in Control Panel under Network Connections, there is no ethernet card listed except one called "1394 Connection".
I have 3 Windows computers. One of those Windows XP computers looses internet every few minutes. Itdisconnects and then reconnects in seconds. Any ideas?
Is there any way to access the bios of a computer with another computer, via a direct link or a router? I am sure that the bios have been affected and attempts to boot from either a floppy or cd get ignored in the loading process and the bios canot find the module to activate the periferal devices ie: keyboard, mouse, usb ports. I am at a total loss of how to do this.
My computer runs very slow and I notice that on my computer properties it say I have 37.2BGB and 31.2used with 6.04free. My question is would this cause my computer to run slow.
I have a computer that is linked to a linksys wireless router by a wireless ethernet bridge. My internet was working properly until a couple of weeks ago when it just stopped working. My internet connection says imited or no connectivity and packets are only being sent not recieved. I have connected my computer directly to the modem so it is not going through the linksys hardware at all and there is still no connection. I have checked all of my computers hardware and it says everything is working properly. Also I have made sure all the drivers are updated and working properly.
My computer recently started randomly having this window come up. I took a couple of print screens. There is also one to do with System32. I don't know what it means and why it's popping up! My computer has been running very slow since this has started to happen, and my virus scanner comes up clean. My internet connection also randomly drops.
