Wont Access C/net Downloads Site: Internet Explorer Has Encountered A Problem?
Oct 30, 2005
I use the C/net downloads to download my software programmes, but the last few days I have been unable to access the download site. When I click on the downloads link,or access C/net downloads from my favourites, I get an error box saying, Internet explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close. Or the page just disappears after a few seconds. Everything else on the C/net site works ok eg homepage etc. It is not my firewall, because I turned the firewall off, and it still did the same.

I keep getting pop ups from Friend Finder, Than when I click out of that,I get a box that says Internet explorer has encountered a problem and needs to shut down ,than whatever I am working on or looking at, goes away and I have to sign back into it. I also get these popups saying there may have been a security breech that may cause a virus, and the name of the virus changes each time. It has been the blakworm, the Beagle, and another one I can't remember off hand. But than it goes to a page that wants me to scan and for errors and buy thier product.

Ever since installing SP2, I am unable to connect to an FTP site via Internet Explorer. The only time I can connect is to turn off the firewall. Is there a way I can resolve this issue? I want to be able to connect to an FTP site without turning off the firewall.

When starting programs IE 6.0, 'help and support' and trying to use 'user groups' and 'system restore' the applications all encounter a problem. All of the error reports refer to "ModName: mshtnl.dll". This problem first began after using system restore to go back to earlier settings. After going back to earlier setting all was okay until windows installed automatic updates and automatically reset the computer and thats when mshtml.dll errors began.ERROR: "Internet Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience"[I]AppName: iexplore.exe, AppVer: 6.0.2900.2180, ModName: mshtmled.dll, ModVer:6.0.2900.3059, Offset: 00061e69

I inadvertently blocked a Web site on my home computer. All mail from this site has images blocked and most links not working, and I can't access the Web site in Internet Explorer, Firefox, or Netscape browsers suddenly. However, if I read my email or try to access the site on another computer, everything is fine. I remember clicking something having to do with the content on this page being "unsigned," but I haven't been able to find a way to fix the problem. When I've cleared cookies, history, cache, files, and unchecked all security everywhere, I sometimes can access the Web site until I close the browser and re-open it (even with no changes made), but the images and links are still blocked in my hotmail.

computer in my possession crashed, and when i reset, my internet has gone wonky. I use MSN as my ISP, and before, i could access internet explorer, or firefox, or any program without ever actually having to sign in to MSN. after the crash, however, i now have to sign in to access internet explorer, firefox, and a couple programs. what angers me, however, is that i DONT have to sign in to access trillian. Limewire, also, will connect, but wont download anything without msn being logged in. How do i get back to how it was? And no, system restore did not work.

I am having major problems with my computer. I can't access folders, My Computer, Internet Explorer, etc. When I click on any of these, it thinks for a little bit, and then does nothing. I am running Windows XP SP2. Does anybody have any idea what I can do? I have tried just a Diagnostic Startup. . .but it basically does the same thing.I haven't loaded any new programs or software lately. About the only major change was early in October, I started using an iPod and I have transferred quite a bit of music files to the hard drive.

Recently, upon startup, i have been getting an error message that says "Windows Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience." It then asks me to tell Microsoft about the problem and i have the option to either send a error report or not to send one. Either way, after choosing one windows explorer terminates and restarts itself. Then the same error message pops up. Recently, when i keep sending the error report, after about the 4th or 5th time, my desktop will just freeze up

I have an xp Home Edition Computer on a wireless network with 3 user accounts. I want to prevent one user (child) from accessing and using one web site. ( AIM.com). I thought of uninstalling AOL Instant Messenger (AIM), but that would not totally resolve the problem. The child can still reconnect to the web and re-download the program again. How can I configure the xp computer to prevent such access and usage of AIM without affecting the privilages from the other users (Adults) to use the same IM?

Also, I can't run any programs like realplayer, documents, etc. The only things that work is my internet. I tried to click on control panel or run but it won't work either. I thinking maybe I should reinstall the whole window but i don't have back up of all my documents in my laptop. So I hope someone can give me advice on what I should do.
