My computer has been effected by the new and improved windows 2009 anti virus and now I am slowly recovering. The virus disabled task manager and my registry. I'm using Windows Xp Pro Sp 3. How do I enable them?

I tried with norton and ad-aware, but they also reboot halfway through the scan. My task manager is also disabled, and my background has changed to a blue screen that says something along the lines of: "System Stopped. System has been stopped due to a serious malfunction. Spyware activity has been detected."

The other day I tried to bring up Task manager (ctrl alt del) and nothing happend. I tried it through control panel, same thing. Nothing happens. It won't work. Also, AI Booster, a program for overclocking and system monitoring from my Asus mobo, says the processor is at 100% load now. I think I may have gotten a corrupted file off of Limewire. I got a copy of office, unzipped it, and ran install, but that did nothing, so i deleted it. i think maybe it installed a virus that attached itself to Windows. Since then, when I shut off limewire it would restart a minute later. Adaware6 doesn't find anything. I have Norton Internet Security, but when I install it i cant use internet, not even to update. I'll install and run it now. Additionally, i cant start in Safe Mode.

My Ad-aware program has detected it and it is located in the registry. I can activate Task Manager but thats pretty much it because it keeps on reappearing in the registry... View 14 Replies View RelatedA friend of mine has a 4 yr. old PC running XP Home with 128Mb of memory. He's had problems with programs aborting recently. I tried to run Device Manager to make sure there were no issues there. It briefly brought the screen up, then it went away. The same thing happened to Task Manager when I tried to see what was running and how much memory was being used. Anybody ever see this behavior before? I might try installing a memory cleaner pgm (ie. Memturbo), but I'm not sure I would even be able to get it to run. The hard drive amd memory seem to have no errors.

The mouse pointer remains active but i cannot click on anything succesfully. The task bar and task manager do not respond at all, i can open files saved on my desktop but cannot do anything when they're open and cannot close them again. I reset my PC a number of times but this did not solve the problem. I assume this is a virus or spyware problem but could it possibly be anything else?

View 1 Replies View Relatedcustomer brought in a BSOD machine, and I was able to recover it to a bootable state, only to be greeted by a plethora of viruses. I've chewed through most of them but this ones' evil plan has got me stumped. It has autohid the taskbar, and locked it that way. I unlock it and try to drag it to normal size, no dice. Also the start menu is disabled. The odd thing is that windows minimize to sit on top of the taskbar, so its almost like there's no taskbar there.

When I turn it on my wallpaper comes up on the desktop but no desktop icons or start up bar. Just an arrow. ctl -alt - del does not bring up the task manager. Absolutely nothing can be done. When I opened task manager there were several net.exe and net1.exe processes running. I would end a process and a new one would take its place. I scanned for spyware and viruses. The spyware that was found was cleaned. There were no viruses. When I ran in Safe Mode there were no problems.

my e6400 cpu does not show up in device manager. it shows up in the bios, and it shows up in the system information screen that lists your computer name, memory installed etc. it does not appear in device manager and task manager only shows one cpu. this is an intel core2 duo processor. system works good just doesnt show up in device manager in windows xp sp2.

I clicked some virus and opened it like a idiot I need smoe help removing it. Everytime I CTRL+ALT+DELETE, the task manager comes up then its killed for some reason. The same happened for when yuou try and bring up the *forgot the name* thing to make everythiung smaller on the harddrive to get more room.I have looked at several things to try and get rid of this virus, but its not working.
