I got the following error:Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. (Code 19)Click Troubleshoot to start the troubleshooter for this device. What I did was I just deleted some part of the registry related to the USB (HKLM Enum and Services parts) and didn't do some backup (Yeah I know.)thinking that maybe the controller will be installed automatically upon hardware change scan. Anybody can tell me how to fix this without reinstalling WinXP? Right-clicking to update driver in Device Manager doesn't work.
IDE to USB Adapter - need driver, I purchased a Vantec CB-IUSB20 so I could hookup a slave drive temporarily. However, I am unable to "see" the drive and the mini disk that they gave me only shows "card reader" drivers.I'm running it on a WinXP machine.I used it originally a month or so ago on another machine but no luck on this one, I've tried a Maxtor 30GB and a Seagate 200 GB.
Well, over the pas few weeks i have tried installing backtrack and ubuntu which are both linux distros and did not have any luck connecting to the internet wireless or through a cable.I reformatted the computer and reinstalled windows and still nothing.I have went to device manager and tried uninstalling and rebooting, hoping that it would fix it. I just recently installed a new DVD burner recently and now when I run my BackUp program, it crashes. I checked and it said both the BackUp program and the new DVD burner are both on the same driver. Does this make sense?
On board sound - SigmaTel C-Major audio. I dont know how many bits this driver is, but I was looking into perhaps the STAC9200 24bit driver or 20bit AC97.
I bought a Dell Labtop from a friend which runs on Windows XP, but when i put a CD in the drive i get" Driver not found " can someone help me with this problem,
Back when I first installed x64 many months ago, I apparently installed the VIA USB 2.0 driver, before I knew that wasn't required on this OS. Looking for the cause of another problem, while looking through the Event Manager, I found a couple of system errors that turned out to be USB filters that the system was blocking. I didn't even remember installing the driver, and when I check in Add/Remove Programs, it's not listed. I decided to simply delete the filters and the USB driver folder. However, after rebooting, I wasn't able to use my mouse, so I couldn't restore the driver from the Recycle Bin. I ended up having to do a System Restore, which set things as they were. Still, I'm looking for a way to remove this that won't cause problems. The only thing that I can think of is to try a repair installation of the OS, but I'm unsure that would do this either. I'm guessing that the VIA driver fouled up the native USB on the system, and this is the root cause of some mouse problems that I have been trying to fix for a long time.
My computer currently has the v. 4.5.0.0 driver (MS Win 07/01/01) installed for my 3COM 3C905C-TX NIC. CNET's new service RadarSync tells me that the v. 5.5 driver update is available. 3COM's website shows no such update, stating instead that drivers for my NIC are provided by WIN XP. The driver update function (Control Panel/Device Manager) found no driver update after searching MS online.
I had a (?) in my device manager for a usb controller so i told windows to reinstall the driver it searched and found a driver now when I boot the computer it comes up saying found new hardware and hangs there nothing works! how do i uninstall this driver in recovery mode or at the c:windows prompt as I cannot do anything in widows until it is removed
I need a driver for the floppy, supported by XP, but different to the one it installs automatically. It´s due that I can´t write to the floppy, but when I disabled the onboard SIS AGP Graphics Adaptor on the Device Manager, then I´m able to write to it.The graphics driver was updated, but the problem persists. For this reason I need to test with a different floppy driver. But to find it on any site of the web has been impossible for me. Does anybody knows exactly where to find it ?
Have some strange problem that nags me every so often. when i boot up the computer i will periodically get a bsod with "bugcode_usb_driver" listed as the cause. I suspect it may be from some webcam i had tried to install, though i thought i had deleted everything. The error only shows up every so often randomly, and then sometimes when i do certain things. For instance, I disabled startup item Navcpl which i believe is norton antivirus (which just came with the computer, im using another program). the computer would not boot up until i went in in safe mode and reenabled it. Yesterday I partitioned my hd using a linux program (though linux is not yet installed, just a cd boot), and since then windows keeps asking me to do run a disk check when i boot up. if i skip it i will boot up fine, but if i let it run, i will count down to about 2 seconds (from 10 that it gives you to skip) and then give me the bsod. very strange.unfortunately the problem had started a long time ago, so i cant do a system restore (i thought i had solved the problem a while ago, but like i said every so often i would get the error on boot, i had been keeping my computer on for long times and so i didnt notice it).googling and checking the forums have turned up nothing. i saw some solutions online and on microsofts site about the same driver error, but under different circumstances, nothing like the problem im having.
My friend has recently bought a package PC, and the included motherboard drivers are... well, rubbish. I'm trying to find the right drivers for it, but the SiS website is useless, nevermind the Foxconn website. The motherboard is:Foxconn 655A01-FX-6LRS, Chipset (AFAIK): 655FX 964. I'm only used to nForce drivers (a single download), and this is just painful by comparison!I've already made 2 failed attempts to install the drivers, with no success. Which drivers do I need? At the minimum just the sound would be ok - he doesn't need the onboard graphics.
It's unfortunate that my first post on these forms is to address a rather large problem I've encountered while re-installing different OS's. It's my hope that you guys can help me out. Don't let me down.Ok, here's the story. Despite all the vista nay-sayers, I decided to try it out anyway. I installed Vista Ultimate on my Compaq Presario sr1910nx. It worked relatively well, until one time I booted up - or at least, I tried. I was given the infinitely descriptive error message: "Missing Operating System". I decided that, well, Vista hadn't really met my expectations, so I popped my XP Home SP2 CD back in the drive, and went back. The install went smoothly. I deleted existing partitions on my hard drive, and then installed XP to the resulting unpartitioned space. So, I welcomed my XP desktop with open arms.
It didn't do the same for me. XP fails to recognize most of my hardware, including but not limited to my network adapter and cd-rom drive. Needless to say, this has resulted in some serious issues; I cannot connect to the internet, because XP refuses to realize that I have a connection. I can't even re-install XP from a CD, because XP won't recognize that, either.I tried mounting an XP .iso with Daemon tools. No dice, the installer wants a CD drive just as much as I do.So, I downloaded some driver identification tools to a USB drive from my laptop and ran them on my desktop. The problem? They need the internet to identify the hardware. So now I'm lost.My desktop box is now incommunicado, and unable to reinstall the OS. This is where I need you guys to come in. I've checked the compaq website for the drivers, and they're not there; that, or I've missed something.
iv no sound that comes from pc, i can download things and watch things but no sound, even thou my speakers are conected to pc,i know there is nothing wrong with them cause i can listen to the radio stations still, iv was told that i may need a new sound card? for my pc. if this is the case are they exspensive to buy? and how do i know what to ask for?if it is the sound card i need to buy. dose anyone know why i may not have any sound?

Since most of us recommend that you keep your drivers up to date I thought a list of links to the driver update pages for manufacturers would be good. Here is a list for starters, I will be adding on as time goes on.
It says the drivers for audio are installed .. but when I go to properties for the sound system it says there is no audio device... and all the setting such as device settings and speaker settings are gray.
