View 4 RepliesWhenever I click on anything with my mouse, most of the times it automatically gets double clicked when I actually do a single click. This doesnt happen all the times but most of the times. I even checked my system for any present Virus with updated ZA Internet Security 7, but found none.
View 5 Replies View RelatedWhen I open a folder (MyComputer, for example), and try to right-click or double-click an icon to open it- it does not work. When I right-click the icon, NOTHING happens. When I double-click the icon, the icon gets highlighted, but the program or other folder does not open. I checked in the folder options, and it is set up so that when you double-click an icon, it opens the program. But the weird thing about it is that if I try to double-click or right-click an icon on my desktop.. it works like it should. So this really just doesn't make sense.
View 1 Replies View RelatedMany times when I single click on an item with my mouse, whether it be a program, a shortcut, or whatever, more often than not , it acts as a double click. When I double cliclk, it opens up the program twice more often than mot, also. I have the Folder options set up to double click so I don't know what's going on. I regularly run AdAdware, Spybot, and I have ZoneAlarm Suite running all the time
View 7 Replies View RelatedI've used AVG Free 8.0, Spybot - Search and Destroy, Windows Defender, firewall on, all my anti-virus stuff updated, so I don't know what's wrong. I've physically checked my mouse, cleaned it etc., didn't find anything wrong. I also played with mouse settings, and did the little test thing to open and close the folder, and it still double clicked. I also play Call of Duty 4, and my weapon will like 'jam' up. I have found some suspicious things, like some 'Virtumonde' and 'DoubleClick' thing on my virus scans, and the DoubleClick one says it is like some tracking cookie. (No matter how many times I delete it, it comes back.) I can't tell you how annoying it is when I have a window behind a window and it exits them both out because my mouse suddenly double clicks. I also know I am not PHYSICALLY double clicking it instead of clicking it once.

View 4 Replies View RelatedThis all started with iTunes - I could not get it to run - I have installed and uninstalled a few times. I still can't run the .exe file for iTunes; I was planning to wait awhile and when I had some time I was going to call Apple; iTunes isn't that important to me. But, today I tried to run a different downloaded .exe and it wouldn't run either.I went to the Microsoft site to see if I could find any info about installing programs. From what I found, there are a few ways to troubleshoot/fix installation problems. Here are the ones I found and my comments on why they didn't work for me:Reinstall the InstallScript engine Click Start, click All Programs, point to Accessories, and then click Windows Explorer. Open the following folder: C:Program FilesInstallShieldDeveloperRedistLanguage Independenti386.Double-click Isscrpt.msi. Follow the instructions that appear on the screen.

Now, the problem is, when i double click it opens the folder in a new window, instead of the same.

All recent virus/spyware scans are clean (AVG, panda, trendmicro, spybot, adaware, spyware doctor, and ewido). Below is a recent HJT log, although I didn't see anything which would be causing this.
Every once in a while my pc acts really nutty. What happens is that I'll go to open a program (lets say Nero Burning Rom) and on a single double click Nero will open up 70+ times. Furthermore, it makes mostly all of my programs act up when this starts happening. For example, when I click the arrow in the system tray it expands and collapses tons of times before it stops. If I open Firefox my homepage sort of half loads over and over and won't stop. MSN Messenger opens up then freaks out when I put the pointer in its window (this happens in the above Firefox example too). All of this activity makes the pc unusable until it all stops. Speaking of when it stops, it does't stop with a restart, it just stops mid session. I thought it could be a mouse problem because the trackball I use is pretty ancient and I figured it just might have just petered out finally, but then I tried another mouse that I found laying around and it did the same things. One other thing I've noticed it (the trackball) doing is when it's not being used the pointer slowly crawls towards the top of the screen. I've run my anti-virus and all three of my spyware programs and none of them find anything out of the ordinary. So what could be causing this? I'm starting to think it might be my mouse port, but how would I find this out?

However, if I right-click the program icon and click on RUN AS, it brings up a gray window asking for a user name and password to gain access to the program. It says something about security that prevents unauthorized installation of viruses and the like.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI was recently in "folder options" and then "file types", just going through and changing icons for disk drives and folders, JPG's and whatnot. Anyway, after doing that, I noticed that if I try to double-click on a disk drive it'll go to Search. And if I double-click on a folder it'll go to Clear Read Only Attributes. I've obviously changed the default action associated with a double-click on folders and disk drives, and I know how to change the default actions undertaken by disc drives and folders and everything else when double-clicked. The thing is, when I go into folder options, file types, advanced (after selecting say, disk drive) the option to change the default action to "open" isn't there, for either folders or disk drives. Other options such as Find are present, but nothing else
