Loging In - Msn Folder And Messenger Opens
Dec 10, 2004I have a small problem, when i turn on the pc, after the log in, the folder of msn and messenger opens.How can i fix this?

Opening A Folder Opens Command Prompt For The Folder
Dec 29, 2008When I try and open My Pictures for example it opens up command prompt for that folder. I've been messing about in My Computer trying to change folder icons. But some how I've managed to stop opening fodlers.

Aug 12, 2002Open Task Manager (Start - Run - taskmgr.exe) Go to processes tab and verify "msmsgs.exe" is not running. If it is click on the process and choose "End Process" Go into your Program Files folder. Rename the Messenger folder to "MessengerOFF" If you are unable to rename the folder in this manner then boot to safe mode and make the change.

Jun 25, 2005I have this wierd problem of a folder opening with every windows startup. The folder is C:Program Filesone.com. The folder and files within are not malware or anything, just some little games that came with my computer that I never got rid of. It is not in my startup folder. I have never run any of the games and don't even remember opening that folder before this started happening.

May 27, 2006After recovering from a malware attack my windows xp machine now opens the C:WINDOWSSystem32 folder every time it starts. How can I prevent this?

Mar 12, 2007I was trying to change the icon of my file folders to something else, and somewhere it said that I could do that at the file types tab of folder options in the control panel. I tried it and it didn't work (not important). However, whenever I opened a folder, it just opened search. I went back and looked at the actions and I didn't see open in there, but find was there (not in bold or anything), so I guessed that it was "find"ing instead of opening. I added a new action called "Open" that used explorer.exe and set it to the default action, but now every folder opens in a new window. I can't delete the action at all and have no idea how to change it. I'm new here and am not sure if this thread is where it belongs. (First post btw).

May 25, 2007i have XP Pro Basically I was messing around in file types because my folder icons were botched. Ran TweakUI to fix folder icons, but here is what happened. double clicking a folder opened the search window. So i went into file types and created a new action, and pointed it at explorer.exe from my windows directory. Now, the problem is, when i double click it opens the folder in a new window, instead of the same.
when I am in the advanced settings of file types (tools-folder options-file types) the Edit and Remove buttons will not light up, but i am the administrator. Restore defaults doesn't work.
Is there a backend way to fix this anyone knows of, short of reformatting ?? system restore to a previous date did nothing.
Explorer CPU Usage 50% When Opens Video Folder
Aug 29, 2009Whenever I open my folder with video files win. explorer CPU usage jumps to 50% although I didn't watch any clips When I close the folder CPU usage remains the same and there is no open applications. I am running XP SP3 with all the current updates.
