Windows Explorer Has Encountered A Problem And Needs To Close. We Are Sorry For The Inconvenience
Jul 24, 2007
Ok, first of all I'm using XP, not sure about service packs or other things as my System Tools>System Information doesn't work so I cant find out anything else about my computer. I've looked around for this problem on the forum a bit but haven't found anything, so sorry if this has already been talked about.I think this started about 6 months ago, can't really remember that much as I don't use 'run' that much. Now whenever I go to Start>Run my whole computer freezes and stops responding until an error message comes up saying-
'Windows explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.' then the whole send error report thing.
Recently, upon startup, i have been getting an error message that says "Windows Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience." It then asks me to tell Microsoft about the problem and i have the option to either send a error report or not to send one. Either way, after choosing one windows explorer terminates and restarts itself. Then the same error message pops up. Recently, when i keep sending the error report, after about the 4th or 5th time, my desktop will just freeze up
I don't know what's up with my computer, but I'm getting all these Windows Explorer errors saying that Windows Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close, and so folders won't stay open. what's up with this
I'm new to this site. After searching the archives for a problem close to the one I'm having I came up empty so I decided that it would be best to get individual help. I've been having, what I would consider, a minor problem with my machine. There is a folder that, whenever it is clicked, causes this error message to pop up "Windows Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close." I am then given the option of sending or not sending an error report to Microsoft. I can't do anything with this folder. One click and that error message pops up and the window closes. Recently, I've noticed that whenever I right click and try to "save as" a file on the web I get an error that says " The filepicker was unexpectedly closed by Windows." There is no text in the gray area, that message appears in the blue title bar part of the pop up. I can then only choose "OK" and the window I'm working in freezes. I cannot delete the folder because it has files in it that I need and it's impossible anyway becuase of the Explorer problem. I really want help to do 3 things: 1. Find out what's causing these problems 2.Get my files back and 3. Delete or fix the folder so as to stop the problem.

Computer received this message: Explorer.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience. All the desktop icons are gone. Also, I can't run any programs like realplayer, documents, etc. The only things that work is my internet. I tried to click on control panel or run but it won't work either. I thinking maybe I should reinstall the whole window but i don't have back up of all my documents in my laptop. So I hope someone can give me advice on what I should do.
I am having a problem with my mothers computer it has a box that comes up every time it is started saying windows has encountered a problem and needs to close we are sorry for any inconvenience. I cannot go on the internet. I have done a system restore 2 times and that has not solved the problem. I have done other tips I found on the internet but no luck. I am also running firefox web browser now but it still brings up box?
Everytime i click on a folder such as my documents I get the message that says: Windows Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience
I was surfing net and recently the following error message popped up on my screenDr. Watson Postmortem Debugger has encountered a problem and needs to close. using Internet Explorer version 6.0. All working fine until recently. When I visit ONE particular website, I get the error message that Internet Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close. I can see all other websites with no problem. The data in the error report say Error Signature: AppName: iexplore.exe AppVer: 6.0.2800.1106 ModName: mshtml.dll ModVer: 6.0.2800.1106 Offset: 0006ce26.
Right after I connect to the Internet, I have been getting an error report coming up saying "Windows Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close." This has been happening repeatedly.
When I try to delete "some files" such as a jpg from My Pictures I get the following error message: "Windows Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience." When I click on more info I get the following
The other day i tried to install a game. When I tried to open it, it told me it couldn't find d3d9.dll. When I put d3d9.dll into the right folder, it said: The procedure entry point DdEntry12 could not be located in the dynamic link library DDRAW.dll. So I thought it was a problem with the game. When I installed another game, the same thing happened. After some internet research, I found that this was a DirectX problem and that what I needed to do was update it. So I downloaded the new version and installed it but the same thing happened. Later, I downloaded an app that required Flash Player. It told me I had version 6 when I needed at least version 9. So I went to Adobe's website and downloaded and installed Flash Player 10.
But when I tried to open the app, it still said i had version 6! So I started to realize that the computer didn't recognize updates to software. So, I told myself, maybe if I update Windows, it'll work. So, I went to the Windows Update and it told me KB888162 (I think that's the one) was a critical update. So I clicked on Install and then, a window popped up telling me that Explorer.exe had encountered a problem and needed to close. This happened every time I try to update and even sometimes when I open Control Panel. (I have Windows XP, by the way).
When I open My Computer and right click on the C: drive to bring up drop-down menu, it always says that Explorer has encountered an error and needs to close.
I have been getting this message for a month or so and since it hasn't seemed to cause any problem other than annoyance, I have just started to look into it. Unfortunately, I haven't found much information on t.exe and I cannot remember doing anything (like adding a new program or deleting a program) that would have interfered with the operating system.I have an HP laptop that runs Windows XP Home
wuauclt.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience I am currently using Windows XP and this message is showing up in two computers .
I have just downloaded SP3 XP and upgraded my daughters PC Everyminute I get a dialogue box appear saying WLanCfgG.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.Anybody able to help with what I have to do? Didn't have this issue before I installed SP3
I have an HP Pavilion ZD8000 and I bought a Sound Blaster Audigy PCMCIA Card. Along with the usual volume controller utility (which every PC with windows comes with) it installed a new one (which I assume relates to the soundcard) however everytime I click on it it gives me this error :"CTSysVol.exe has encountered an error and it needs to close" after which it closes down
My grandchildren play computer games when they visit.Lego Racers has run on my computers for probably 10 years and now it won't run.I decided the CD was bad and got a new one but the problem is the same. The odd thing is that it won't even install except in Safe Mode. With the Compatibility settings for Windows 95 it will start, switch my graphics to 640 by 480 and then display this error message.I know it probably isn't worth messing with since the replacement game cost $4.00 and there are plenty of other games for them to play.
Recently my laptop has been acting up a little bit. I did some virus scans but it turned up nothing. Some small stuff like cookies being lost happen, but the main two things are that I've lost everything on my ObjectDock application, and more importantly logging on has gotten weird.I first noticed this trying to change a skin for LogonXP (so yeah, I'm running XP; sp2), and it wouldn't let me. Now when I log on there's just a basic box on a solid black background for logging in with, similar (but not equivalent to; screen-cap doesn't save before start-up apparently) this picture. When I try to shut down I get an error message saying what the title of this topic says.
My computer is currently running Windows XP Home. When i turn it on i get the error message that reads: Sorry for the inconvenience but windows did't start successfully. It then asks me whether i want to start windows in safe mode, safe mode with networking, safe mode with command prompt, last known good configuration, or start windows normally. If i i choose to use the last known good configuration, windows begins to load but then a blue error screen appears and the computer restarts quickly again to the same screen. If i choose any of the other options the computer restarts and eventually ends up at the windows loaded unsuccessfully screen. I would just use my Windows XP disk to either repair or reinstall windows but i use an external cd drive and it does not appear in the boot sequence.
.My problem is this... When I have multiple pages open I can't close just one. If I close one of the pages an error message pops up that reads "internet explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close" with the options "debug" , "send error report" , and "don't send".
After leaving my computer turned off for spring break, I returned to find a few things wrong with it. First, the little red alert from microsoft was in the corner saying that I had suspicious activity on my computer. Second, none of my folders will open. If I double-click a folder, the computer freezes for about 30 seconds, the desktop blinks, and I get the above error message, and I still can't open folders. I ran a virus scan and pulled up a good 7 infected files, but deleted them all and restarted...same problem. I also ran a spyware program and found the same spyware that I've had for a few months now, so I don't think that's the problem. I tried restarting in safe mode and folders open perfectly, with no problems.
Before I describe it in length, Here are a few things about my system, my OS, my hardware:I use an iMac that runs XP on a partition using Bootcamp. I use this mainly for gaming and Steam, so I don't necessarily care about wiping the hard drive... but I haven't been able to find my XP disc and it would generally be favorable (although not crucial) if there were a fix that doesn't involve losing all my stuff on XP and suffering through 50 GB of re-installations. I also have Avast! and haven't downloaded anything (outside of downloads while joining servers in Source engine games) within the previous 48 hours of having this issue.
