I've recently installed a ecs 7050m-m (v2.00) with a phenom x3 8450 processor. It boots all the way to the option (f8) screen but no matter which option i pick it just reboots rather than loading windows. I've tried just safe mode but it only gets as far as btkernel then resets. Any ideas why this might be? was working fine with previous board? Is it because I didn't install the new board drivers before fitting? is there any way to fix it?
I am planning to upgrade my motherboard and some other hardware connected to it.A friend mentioned that with WinXP the system may not boot after the hardware is upgraded, and that I may have to call Microsoft to get an authorization of some kind before it will work again. Is this true? Or can I just change the mobo and hardware and continue working?
i recently upgraded for windows 98 to windows xp, and now a game i had downloaded from real arcade off the internet won't play any of the sound effects. i spoke with a tech from real games and we re-installed and re-downloaded it again and it still doesn't work. is there something with the windows xp/computer settings that I need to change or adjust?
I just got my motherboard replaced as the old one was not installed correctly. Ever since, even doing the smallest thing like rolling the mouse wheel will make the computer go up to 70, 80, even 90% computer usage. Also, I cannot seem to run games now because my Direct3D is apparently not activated.
I use 127.0.0.1 for yahooPops and 127.0.0.2 for Hotmailpopper, but since I upgraded to SP2, 127.0.0.2 seems 2b blocked, can any1 tell me where i can go to sort this out?

I used the wrong xp upgrade disk for my PC - I used the xp OS disk I have for my Laptop. I tried to switch disks in the middle of the process. but after crashing the computer and making it unable to boot I was forced to do a repair with the wrong disk and complete the upgrade with it. NOW, I need to change the xp OS Key so I don't have an invalid install and can activate it. I tried MS Key-Update-Tool, but the program won't accept the key. PLEASE HELP.
My computer has 1meg memory (2 x 510mg ) with two extra slots for expansion , I have been trying to add another 510mg memory but when I boot up the computer It shows system at 510mg total memory, does this mean my computer cannot be upgraded to 1.5mg ? and if so why is there extra expansion slots ?

I have recently upgraded from XP Home to XP Pro and notice that my CD-ROM and DVD R+W drives don't work. They are recognised in the device manager but not in My Computer. They cannot read any type of media and seem to crash my system. I have tried upgrading each firmware, checking cables, reinstalling drivers but still no luck. I have noticed that in the bootlog it states that several drivers did not load including pciide.sys and not sure if this may be one of the problems.

I recently got windows xp and upgraded from windows 2000. Right now there are 93 updates or so that I can download and have downloaded but can not install. I have no idea why. The newest WGA says my windows is genuine I have 3 different virus protection programs all of which say aside from cookies my computer is clean. Some minor updates work but the critical ones do not. I have tried multiple ideas to fix this and have failed. What happens is I go to the microsoft update site. Click on express or custom install and go to the place where these updates are to be installed :
Security Update for Windows XP (KB873339) Critical Update for Windows XP (KB886185) Security Update for Windows XP (KB885836) Security Update for Windows XP (KB888302) Security Update for Windows Messenger (KB887472).....

My computer at work has been recently upgraded from Windows 2000 to XP. Funny thing is that the Internet Explorer icon (not a shortcut) doesn't show on the desktop. When I right click on the desktop to open the display properties and select the IE icon to be displayed, it still doesn't show on screen. I can only find shortcuts. They're not what I need because when you right click on a shortcut, the IE properties don't show (so you can't delete history or cookies).
I recently upgraded the hard drive on my computer from a 5200rpm drive to a much needed 7200 80gig maxtor. When I start up the computer and click my user name, windows xp professional logs me in and the first item to load is my norton (with an exclamation point). none of my other tasks in the toolbar load and the computer is kind of paused. i timed it to last 45 seconds. and then suddenly the screen refreshes/all my tasks load. I cant seem to figure out why there is such a pause. The only start up items I am allowing (via msconfig) are for the anti virus software and a dialer for my verizon dsl connection
I have just upgraded from WIN98 to XP Home Edition. I had 3 identities in OE6 and two appear to be OK but one seems lost. Did the upgrade make a backup and if so, where do I find it
My Windows 98 basically crashed and i have now loaded XP onto one drive and my info from 98 is on another drive ( c/d ) I have gotten access to all my files, documents ect....however I have not been able to get into my outlook express old file which contains 1000,s of emails that I desparatley need.
I've upgraded my PC from Win98SE to XP, and installed a second HD (as a slave) using an old Samsung SV3002H i had laying about. Bios detects it, and it shows in my device manager, but aside from that, i can't access it to either format it/see it in "my computer."
I had Windows ME and upgraded to XP via the upgrade disk. All went well and I was asked to uninstall Norton Internet Security before installing again to take "make it work again" in the new environment.I am trying to reinstall but for some reason, the NAV install window keeps telling me there is an existing copy of NAV that I have to remove before I can install again.I've searched through the normal areas but am having no luck. These include the Add/Remove facility, Windows Explorer, and the Search facility.
i don't know if this problem is hard ware or software, but here goes.my friend brought me a laptop that had a dark screen. this thing had lots more problems. it was running XP SP1. with an out dated 2005 norton AV. the first thing i did was put an external monitor on it. i was then able to see what was going on. i upgraded to SP3 and uninstalled Norton. i then installed AVG. ran a full scan. i installed spybot and adaware. ran both the only thing left is 3 instances of "wieldtangent" that i am not able to remove. i thought that the screen problem would go away, with the virus scan but it did not. when you boot the laptop you can see the splash screen, then it goes dark. (you have an image but it is not lite up) then about 1/2 way through the boot screen comes back on and then it goes out. then you are able to see the desktop and about 5 sec. later it goes dark again.
