Unable To Find XP-friendly Video Card Drivers For HP Laptop
May 22, 2008
I recently installed Windows XP on a HP laptop that originally came with Vista. The laptop has a Nvidia 8600M GS video card, and I cannot for the life of me find any drivers for the video card that work with XP. The drivers on Nvidia's website are not for laptops, and I have seen on other forums that there are driver issues with HP notebooks and XP.When I boot Windows XP, images load very slowly and my video card does not even show up in the device manager. Does anyone know if there's a way to get drivers for this card that work in XP?
I have an IBM thinkpad I got from my brother who is even less computer savvy than I am. As a result the computer was slow and filled with junk. So i did a clean install of windows xp. Now though, my video card isn't recognized. Under Adapter Type Properties, it's listed as VGA Save. My brother doesn't know what kind of video adapter it is and i don't know how to find out either. Attached is a screenshot of the info i have with regards to video adapter.
I have Dell Inspiron 6400 laptop.I formatted and installed windows xp professional and download drivers from the Dell website everything seems to be working but the drivers for Audio and Network card is not working.
The Vaio is about 3/4 years old now, and I just did a reinstallation of Windows XP to clean things up a bit. Before the reinstall, I managed to track down this page on the Sony Asia website (http://www.sony-asia.com/support/dow...subpage=detail), and downloaded all of the listed drivers onto a memory stick. Having formatted the disk and installed Windows, I installed the drivers in the order listed on the website. They all worked perfectly, except for the Realtek audio driver. No sound was played by the computer, and when viewing the sound preferences under the Control Panel, I was informed that there is No Audio Device.
video card on my laptop messed up somehow, i can see a exclamation mark on the device manager in the display drivers tab... now im searching to update my driver but cant find any sources that would suit xp windows now everything is very laggy cuz it shows im not using any video card or something like that anyway?
I want to update my video card drivers because my video card is acting up and I want to see if new drivers will fix it.I printed out the instructions from ATI's site and followed it exactly. I used Add/Remove Programs and clicked on the ATI Software Uninstall Utility. I rebooted the computer. I went into Safe Mode. I tried to install the drivers.Upon doing this, every time I run the setup to install the new drivers, I get this error message:"INF Error: Video Driver Not Found" This happens if I try to install the latest Catalyst version. This happens if I try to install an older Catalyst version. This even happens if I try to reinstall the drivers that I just had (it installed fine before so why is the 5.11s giving me that error now)!
Im trying to run STEAM, but everytime it runs it only runs in software mode.and i wonder if i have to install the drivers for this video card. its not my laptop, im fixing it for a friend and so i dont know. but id like to know how to navigate to the page where it tells me exactly what kind/model of graphics and video card i have.i dont remember exactly where to go on my computer to see the info.
It's been a while, but I use to hook my computer up to my big screen TV (S3-video) every so often and I could have sworn it was by going through Display, Settings and Advance. Once in Advance my NVIDIA card would be there and I would click on it and choose the clone option so that what was on my computer would be on my TV.But this week-end I tried it and it no longer showed my Video card or anything remotely close to the screen I had used before, instead it now shows the typical dual monitor configuration/setup ie. extend desktop across both monitors.I cannot figure how I lost my Video card screen where I could clone - am I just forgetting where I went and going to the wrong spot now?
i recently have done a reinstall of windows xp but the system cannot seem to be able to find the systems video card drivers and i have checked on the properties under adapters and the whole list says n/a so i have no way of find out what drivers i need to download. I have an emachines 5250 if that is any use.
I had to replace my HD and Video card a couple of months ago. I got the new video card from Dell, it is the same card that my system came with, GeForce 7800 GO. Since replacing these two items, I cannot achieve my original screen resolution of 1920 X 1200(WUXGA), all I can get is 1400 X 900(WXGA). Yes, I am sure it is WUXGA, as shown by dell configurator : CF176 LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY..., 17, Wide Ultra Extended Graphics Array..., VIDEO ELEC. STDS. ASSOC...., GLARE WIDE VIEWING ANGLE..., SAMSUNG...
How do you find out what correct drivers to use on your computer?? I recently had a driver issue and was trying to upgrade my Nvidia drivers which I removed via the add/remove program but I'm now unable to get the correct version for my computer. I downloaded NVIDIA GeForce4 Ti 4600 [Display adapter] but everything (icons, fonts, etc) comes out miniaturized now!!!
When i first got my computer the drive worked fine, but since the first time i opened it, It stopped working. Anyway I found the problem (the cable had been damaged) and now the computer can see it but cant find any drivers for it.Under drive properties it says the drivers are not installed code 28 I dont know the manufacturer of it either, the properties just say standard CD-ROM Drive
I'm using a compaq CQ60-224NR link: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/d...s&dlc=en&lc=en it came with vista but after many frustrations I went with XP I added RAM (4GB insted of 3GB) so I wanted the 64 bit version everything was fine untill an update made the sound terrible I tried to roll back the driver but I did not back it up (Dou!) well now I have no sound and I cannot find a driver. I know I was maybe getting into troble with XP 64 (pro sp2) I tried driver genius and driver finder (hope the money back is true) both failed
I use two hard drives, a smaller one that runs XP and a larger one for primarily storage. I replaced the storage drive...this had been the "first" drive and was labeled c: while the one running XP was labeled d:I installed the new drive and rebooted. In the process, the volume labels flipped: the primary drive became c: and the storage drive becoming d: This has thrown Windows into a world of confusion and all previously installed programs show up as uninstalled. They are still there in "program files" but many of them refuse to open, reporting not being able to find .dll files which I can search for and find on the computer.
When the storm died down I booted the computer up and it made a series of "ca-click, ca-click" (that's pretty much exactly what it sounded like, too) noises. It ran slowly, but it managed to boot up. I ran all my programs normally, including logging into World of Warcraft. I got disconnect from the server (DSL hiccup, I think) and went to log back in. There's a bug in the game that sometimes causes computers to freeze on re-logging automatically into an instance. I could still hear ventrilo, but the monitor was frozen.
I told people I'd brb and pressed the power button. It rebooted and this time it made a LOT more clicking noises and paused at a black screen after the dell logo went away. After a few minutes it told me that one of my sys.dll files was missing and I needed to put in the windows disc and repair. Every time I subsequently restarted, a different file was supposedly missing. Sometimes it was NSFW and sometimes it was something else.
i just installed xp pro on my gatway 450rog all is working well but in the other device there are 5 things with yellow ? on them not the netork card that is fine but the ethernet controller, modem, how do i fix this i can not get it to conect to the internet to update thses
I have a Dell Dimension 5150, i've just done a re-install of XP as I was sick of it playing up - something was wrong but I couldn't figure it out. Anyway, Now I can't get anything to work cause I have no drivers, I mainly need the ethernet driver. Dell's website has NOTHING on it, there is only 1 download for this machine and it is for some stupid dell application. No drivers. I've looked all over the net
I recently bought a Acer Travelmate 8000 laptop from ebay, it has a Mobility Radeon 9700 in it. Trouble is, because Acer arent in ATI's list of approved venders or something, I cant install the ATI mobility drivers, OR indeed, the normal Radeon drivers. Anyone have any way around this, or any other ideas.
We use a USB device which allows us to plug in IDE and SATA hard drives to test and read data. We use one computer for this testing and we test a lot of drives. Well recently the device started locking up the computer just as the computer finishes loading the drivers. I first thought it was the USB in the machine, but mice and keyboard both work in all the ports. I then thought it was the device but I tried it in another machine and it worked as it should. I tired plugging in a flash drive into the machine and it does the same thing.
i just did a clean install on my laptop and upon checking device manager i encounter question sign for (1)Multimedia audio controll (2)Network controller and (3)PCI Modem.Isearch Toshiba site and they do not list my model computer and i have seen the AC97 audio driver elsewhere but it just wont work. Anyone care to point me in the right direction.System is Toshiba Satellite A55-psa50u-03c021, serial number 64094885H, Chipset i855GME. Sound card is AC97(82801db)
I'm not having any problems with the audio itself, but I just reinstalled XP and before when I would press the volume up/down buttons at the top of the laptop a green bar/scale thing would come up on screen to show me how high/low my volume was. After reinstalling the audio drivers from IBMs website it does not do this anymore
Could someone quickly tell me what is the difference, in lamens terms, and above all which is the best bang for my buck. I am about to buy a laptop and just cannot make a decision. 64 64 x 2 Core 2 Dual Core Core Duo
Im not very computer smart...but i have AMD Athlon 64 processor 4000 NVIDIA GeForce 6150 LE Graphics My guess is i have a good processor and a horrible graphics card...the games i play such as call of duty4 and ship sim 08 realy glitch on my computer so i was thinkin of getting this card called GeForce 8800 GT super+ 1GB video card...is this what i should get..??it costs aobut 200$
Recently I was playing a game, when my screen froze. I then shut my computer down to restart it, used it a few times (in 4-bit safe mode), then after I shutdown again, I cant log back in... it just freezes and the screen flashes, I cannot boot into my computer setup (default f2) or into safe mode (default f8), however I can run the XP cd and get into the recovery console, is there any way that I can change the boot sequence from the recovery console? The screen is dotted with a bunch of dots up and down the screen in columns, and is in 4-bit video mode.
I have a Dell xps gen 5 with xp home.
the error I get is:
"Error: Cant enter setup. Video Mode 103 not supported by this video card."
laptop has got the ZLOB virus and I am trying to get rid of it but I cannot connect to the internet because the drivers for the ethernet card are missing. There is no id on the laptop apart from the COA for XP and Z600 on a sticker underneath it. How can I find out what make it is so I can find the drivers. I don't mind paying for the drivers or a virus remover as long as they work.
While I was deployed my wife inserted an Mini SD card in to the card reader built into the computer. When she removed the card windows locked up, as soon as she reinserted the card windows worked fine. She removed the mini SD card from the adapter to use in her phone, and windows still worked fine, but as soon as she removed the Mini SD adapter from the card reader windows locked up and the windows would hang during start-up with out the adapter. Reinserting the adapter cured the freeze and hang, but windows ran very slow.I removed and reinstalled the card reader drivers and was able to remove the adapter, but windows still hangs on start-up with out the adapter placed in the slot.
Whenever i install drivers on my pc, (i've tried graphics card drivers and wireless network card drivers) my pc stops working. When i installed the graphics card drivers, i tried testing the graphics on a game (counter-strike) but as soon as i got into the game, the pc flashes a blue screen, and reboots. I cant see what the blue screen says because it flashes on and off again to quick for me to read it. I decided to uninstall the graphics card drivers, and the game worked perfectly, but the graphics were REALLY bad. So i thought i might need to update some other drivers, so i tried to install my wireless network card, but when i finished installing the drivers when i had to restart my computer, it flashed the BSOD.... AGAIN! I need help urgently as im going to a LAN gaming comp called "rezidue" and its on in 2 weeks, i need my pc fixed by then! All these problems started when i upgraded my CPU. Everything was running smooth, and i was happily playing along on my computer, when i was asked what my FPS was in counter-strike, and i was all "mine are 65!" and there like "wow that sucks, mines 130" so i set out on my epic quest to get better FPS then everyone else and MAN THAT WAS A MISTAKE. I upgraded from my celeron 2.8ghz cpu to a P4 3.0ghz HT cpu, and thats when things started messing up on me. My entire system is as follows (incase it can help someone help me) P4 3.0ghz HT CPU, Microstar P4 motherboard, 128mb Nvidia Geforce mx4000 AGP x8 graphics card, 256MB ddr ram (recently brought new 1GB ddr ram off ebay just for rezidue! should be here soon!) TP-LINK 54mbps wireless network card) And last but not least
I hooked up my Xbox to my PC to play online using my monitor, only to find out that my NVidia Geforce4 Ti 4200 can only display a max resolution of 720x480 through my capture software, and this ain't good enough for me. Does somebody know of any specific card/adapter TV Tuner that has an S Video input and could give me resolution over 1024 pixels under $100.
