Stuttering Sound WPro

I have this stuttering sound when I play MP3, WMA, and MPEG files but it seems to be most noticeable when playing MP3 files in Winamp. The computer is XP Pro SP2 with the latest patches etc. I have tried many things to resolve this stuttering but nothing seems to work. It seems that after a reboot the problem doesn't become apparent right away for what ever reason it takes time for this behavior to start, I don't know what triggers it to start the stutter.

It is taking about 4 minutes to boot my laptop. Is there anything I can do to speed the boot up and generally get a little better performance out of my machine? I realize this isn't a state of the art machine but it seems to be getting slower.

My son-in-law's PC went totally south so he put together a Barebones and installed XP Pro but he misplaced the Key # so he is unable to activate with MS. He installed a new primary HDD and borrowed a Key # temporarily. The PC does not boot the drive from the former PC which he installed as a slave drive. Belarc and Everest will not read that drive so no help there. He can open and look in the slave drive(F) and tried copying the wpa.dbl file to the new drive but it did not work, even in safe mode. Any ideas how he can recover the Key # from the old drive so he can use it on the new drive?

I have a 3 y old Thinkpad R52 which came with preloaded WXP Pro. After a while, I got recovery discs from IBM and I have created startup and ThinkVantage discs.I have restored my IBM to factory-condition few times before, but now I want to format it to the ground level to get rid of some files which have been piled up in the reserved-preinstalled sector of the hard drive. I just believe that it make my IBM even more fresh than "usual restoration".My question is: can I format my IBM from DOS environment by using startup disc and still use the restoration/recovery discs after that, to install XP and acompanying programs? Is there any body who have done it on any other PC brands; because I think that it can be the same for other makes.

with my outlook not opening for me, then act9! wouldn't open, act9 is a database system, then i couldn't uninstall act9, as i wanted to reinstallit. it said the unistall progam was missing. now when i'm watching Internet or video online it is very stuttery and the audio is stuttery too. it sort of glitches every 2 seconds or so.

I got a new computer a few weeks ago and downloading anything causes whatever else I'm doing to lag and stutter. Its especially noticable in sound and movies but if its a fast download even the mouse will skip around. Even loading websites causes this. Offline everything works fine. Any idea what I could do to fix it?

The problem is my Dell Inspiron 600m laptop running Windows XP Home has a weird symptom that just started up. Literally, every second my system has a brief pause or stutter for just a brief moment, like clockwork. From playing a game or video, to just moving a window around on the screen, or even just moving the mouse about, every second it'll just pause or come close to pausing, and then jump to where it should be. Almost like every second some background process is briefly using all the cpu.Here are the series of events, and then I'll give some more details of the problem itself.

I installed Windows XP SP 2 recently. Sometime after doing that and downloading numerous Microsoft updates and updated drivers for my Dell Inspiron 6000, I noticed that my mouse cursor stutters a little bit from time to time as I move it around. I think it happened even after a fresh installation of Winows XP, but I can't remember for sure.
I already run my spybot, adaware, and Avast virus scan, but they haven't fix anything. My drivers are all up to date too I think. Below is my HijackThis log

I have a dell with win xp pro with sp2, 2gb or ram, 2.4ghz intel celleron, i run mcafee securietycenter. My primary use for a computer is internet, video editing, and listing to music. previously i was able to edit videos when some small programs were running, but lately my computer is spiking to 100% cpu usage. now i cant even run a single simple program like winamp or internet explorer with out spiking stuttering, let alone even thinking about opening my video editing program, or editing any video. it stutters and is very slow. It is now very slow to boot, when in the past was a lot faster. Programs are just barley slower in opening. This happens online and offline. and it doesnt seem to matter how long my computer has been on, it happens all the time. I've tryed ad-ware and spybot thinking it was spy ware slowing everything down. didnt help. Is there a program or software that will minimize all unnessary programs or take control of what programs can run?

i would like to know how to or if its possible to uninstall microsoft .net framework. Also what exactly does it even do? I noticed that after installing .net framework 2.0 SP1 cod4 seemed to get odd stuttering issues. I installed .net framework 2.0 SP2 and the stuttering reduced however still more than before i ever installed SP1. Is it possible to uninstall it? and do i need more than just .net framework 3.0?

My husband has a Toshiba Satellite L25-S1215 which is running Windows XP Service Pack 3. It was working fine, and then suddenly got extremely slow, and the audio on start-up is broken up/stuttering. When playing videos the audio and video is also stuttering. Thought Norton Internet Security might be the problem, and uninstalled it, but problems continue. When computer is turned on, it is VERY slow to bring up Windows, and then extremely slow to connect to IE. Can't even bring up Mozilla Firefox anymore, which he had used for several years with no trouble. After a while my sound will cut out and when I try to play things in Winamp or anything it will stay stuck @ 0:00The sounds will sputter for a second and then freeze. Also when the sound dies, sometimes programs will start to freeze up to the point I can't even kill them in tskmgr. System sounds don't play either.I've tried updating to the latest drivers. I tried an older version of the drivers too.

I get a series of low pitch beeps about every hour for a second or two no matter what's running.It's not a system beep, much lower in freguency. Everything else is working fine, good audio for all playbacks.I don't have a system speaker attached to the motherboard. The sound comes thru my Sound Blaster powered speakers, even with the volume off.

I recently upgraded my OS to WinXP Pro from WinME, and there is no sound. I right-click My computer, go to properties, hardware, device manager, then there are 2 yellow circles with exclamation points in them under Multimedia Audio Controller (Intel 82801AA ac'91 Audio Controller), and Unknown Device (Microsoft MPU-401 Compatible MIDI Device). I tried to reinstall them, but it says There was a problem installing this hardware: Intel 82801AA AC'97 Audio Controller. An error occured during the installation of the device. The data is invalid.

I recently purchased a refurbished computer from Fry's Electronics. It seemed like a very good deal, so I went ahead and took it along with others who were taking them.
I finally got my internet up and I began to play Counter-strike. The sound sometimes messes up. I can hear other peoples shots just fine, but when I shot, it is almost silent.

This started last night, the only thing that I did that was out of the ordinary was ran Avast's thourough scan fully, but even after that my sound worked, so it didnt delete the driver to my knowlege, but when I do a dxdiag and look at my audio, it doesn't exist, there is no sound card installed, and allI use is my DFI Lan Party UT RDX200 CF-DR mother boards on board sound. I tried installing the driver again fom DFI and to no success, now when I went to install the drive again, I got an error saying that this device isnt approved by Windows. Could windows be preventing my audio card from working?

When i start my pc skype says that he hasn't found recording hardware. Itunes doesn't work, like Windows Media Player, Winamp etc. The sound is gone. I tried to fix it myself, cause i disabled a driver that seemed to have a problem, but i don't remember what the name was. Now not only the programs have no sound anymore, but windows is silent too. It sure wasn't the driver of my sound card. I installed Everest and he doesn't find any Windows Audio, and says the realtek has "noDB". When i am in the music tab of the "Diagnostic help program for DirectX" "windows synthesizer" test sound doesn't play, but the realtek does.

This is about sound issues from the computer as in cant get sound from the computer.Went to computer properties then multi media controller has yellow question mark next to it so tried to update driver it goes to the wizard but it will not find any drivers for it without a cd which dont have. Tried roll back drivers says no drivers are backed up on file. Went to sound audio video game controllers audio codecs says all the codecs are working for this computer. Control panel sound audio says no sound device is connected. The sound card is realtek ALC655 AC 97 enhanced audio controller. Again got these drivers from foxxconn and exactly same issues. Extracted the files easily enough from wizard but when go to exe run folder the run it says cannot find setupfilex.dll. Then go to gxdver it dont do anything. Go to exe icon run and logger then it goes cannot run please find the setup exe file from the directory. In the folders cannot seem to find anything that will install the actual drivers without a conflicting issue somewhere. So everytime download this compressed driver folders for the drivers it has problems when the files are extracted.The sound card is enabled and mutli media controller says code 28 drivers not installed.

My laptop is running windows xp home edition. it's packardbell, i bought it recently and updated service pack 2. since then it plays music for couple of minutes and sound goes off along with the volume icon on the taskbar. i tried control panel - sounds - show icon taskbar, but it doesn't work until i restart the comupter. i don't understand what could be wrong.. hardware or software. if it's hardware then the sound icon doesnt' disappear all of a sudden with out an error message.

I am trying to change the Start Windows sound in the sound scheme. I downloaded a fanfare i wanted to use and changed it to a WAV file, but when Windows starts, i only get the first note, about half a second. When I click on the sound in the change sounds in sounds and audio device properties, it plays fine.

I did a reinstall of Windows XP and I can't get the sound to work. Here is the sound card:Sound Blaster Live! Platinum rev.5 CT4760P. My computer is upgraded and so it is a hybrid system. I downloaded the driver for Sound Blaster Live! from the website and it still has the same problem. To be sure there was no on board sound, I took out the card and the computer said I had no audio devices which means there isn't a on-board sound card.

I succesfully update my BIOS "flash it" but lately , my sound its making some funny stuff ( like... poping sounds) and the "cliki sounds" of Windows when you open a folder, change page, etc. sometimes it sounds like a interference of a radio (bruugggtttt ) short my sound example ok , well , then it fix by itself , but then later comes again . my windows media player sounds ok, for now , havent notice slow in music yet , but musicmatch somtimes sounds funny , just the start opening music (intro) but songs OK.by the way I update my nero , so I uninstall and install the new version , I didn,t configure Nero to open wav files or sound files .should I need to update my sound driver for the chipset of SoundMax ?

I can play an DVD movie and the video works fine but I have no audio. I can play an music cd and the sound works fine. I tries it in media player and nero. Media player is a pain half the time it won't play an movie because of some rights problem. The movies are legal out of the store. I use to run a audio cable from the cd and dvd's to the motherboard in the old days, but haven't in a while because the audio would work either way. This is new MSI board with on board audio and works fine with music cd's but no audio on video's. I did get sound to work with movies but only after installing WinDVD7. I noticed that it installed a DVD Audio driver. Why don't the other programs have that like Media player, nero, realplayer.
