a couple days ago, while doing my usual browsing for pics, i saved some pics to my usual picture folder and noticed the pics weren't there or anywhere on my hard drive. i tried saving the pics to my desktop, documents, an external hard drive, etc... and the pics are nowhere to be found. i did a complete computer search and the pics are nowhere to be found. i open mozilla firefox and my yahoo toolbar is gone but google toolbar is still there, i click view and yahoo and another toolbar aren't even listed. internet download manager is no longer viewed when i right click
when i right click several things are missing. the only things i see when i right click with firefox open is view image, copy image, properties and a couple of others----several things are missing including download with internet download manager, and several firefox extension programs. this hurts can anyone help? thanks, the only thing i've changed lately is after running no virus program for the past 5 months i decided to download avg free, i ran a scan and it caught a few things and cleaned them, then websites were moving slow
I use Windows XP on my HP Pavillion 750n (c.2001). I had to run a Non-Destructive recovery due to a Windows Update that wouldn't allow me to open Internet Explorer, my antivirus softeware (Trend Micro) or even run the System Restore function. When I ran the Non-Destructive recovery, upon reboot, I received the message, "NTLDR file is compressed. Press Ctrl + Alt + Del to Restart", to which I received that same message. I called HP Cust Support and they help me fix that problem ($59.95 later), but when my system rebooted, it created to Owner profiles. One named "owner" and one named "Owner.Your-W92P4BHLZG". I cannot access the one named "Owner" and none of my files are under the "Owner.Your-W92P4BHLZG".When I go to the "Owner" file, I get "Access Denied". Even when I boot in Safe Mode and log on as Admin, I can't get it in. I know the files are still in there somewhere as when I right-click on the Local Drive, It still shows the same amount of Disk Space Used as before the recovery was run.
I did something while moving some pictures to the "windows web wallpaper folder "Yesterday I went to change the desktop picture and was met with a choice of hundreds of pics.I have checked the registry and it points to "windows web wallpaper folder ", I can not figure out why so many files are now showing up when I want to change the wallpaper. Most are from various places in "My Pictures " But some are elsewhere. Its crazy there must be two hundred of them showing up as wallpaper choices ..I need to know if anyone can help me figure out how to sort this out.
my problem is pretty big. im not sure where to start, but I can tell you it was after i restarted my comp from installing a program. And now, my comp looks like it went back to the dark ages (ie: Win98). Programs wont start, i cant view pics, drivers are missing, i cant connect to the internet, no sound. I'm REALLY stumped and i've tried everything i can to correct the problem, but alas, no hope.I'm hoping someone here might know what to do. Oh, also, my comp is custom built, so i wasnt sure if i could call Dell, or whatever. Anyway, im hoping someone has insight into my problem.
I was able to use Movie Maker to save a lot of pictures to disk. They play as a slideshow. Is there a way to get actual pictures back. Playing then in Movie Maker and using the capture feature gives me MUCH lower quality pictures than I saved to disk. Also, when I want to save more pictures to disk, is there a way to save them as pictures and not a slide show?
I have a ton of background pictures that I really like, but I cannot seem to locate them. I searched my computer for the file names, but nothing comes up.
Everytime I try to look through my pictures in 'my pictures' i get this error message:The instruction at "0x7c92ae22" referenced memory at "0x00000086". The memory could not be read.OK to Cancel Cancel to Debug

We just got a new PC, monitor, and OS. Had win98se, now have XP pro. On IE when we made Yahoo our browser, the toolbar words and toolbar icon pics look much smaller than before and that is a prob for my husband who is legally blind. I have already increased the size of the icons on the desktop and also in the start menu list, but have no idea what to do to increase size of the items on the IE/Yahoo.com tool bars at top of page ie: File, Edit, View, etc. And also the back/forward/refresh/stop/ and home icons up there.
Using XP home edition. I recently joined a Christmas card site to send E-cards and everything went okay. Today I wanted to send a New Years E-card but upon revisiting the site, I found I couldn't view any of the cards and got a blank screen with a small red 'x' in the top left-hand corner. I refreshed the screen but no joy. Then I altered security levels to minimum to see if that'd fix things - it didn't so I altered them back to default.

These are two different pics. How do I get rid of the other, which shows only partly.Somehow I got to the multiple monitor setup, but I can't get rid of the 1 -2 screen setup.
I had my wedding pics placed on a CD by the photographer. When I place the CD in a pc running Vista, it pulls up all the pics just fine. When I place it in my home pc though, running XP, my pc acts like there isnt even a CD in the drive, like it doesnt recognize the CD is there at all
Normally when you double click an image file, the default Windows Picture And Fax Viewer (I'll use WPF for short) program let's you view it. Recently, it's not working. I double click various images that showed up fine bef, but now nothing. It's like I'm Double clicking some empty space. Well, not quit empty space, as i do see the hourglass animation briefly when I do that, but previews in thumbnail and filmstrip mode are no longer there either. My pics are BMP, GIF, and JPG format. Pics i had before, as well as new ones I save using "save picture as" or via a screenshot utility canNOT be opend using WPF. The pics haven't gone corrupt
Whenever I double click on a picture in my pics folder it refuses to open it up to a bigger window that shows the pic enlarged. I also cant use any of them as a picture for my desktop.this is what the window that pops up states..
