View 14 RepliesThe system process "c:windowssystem32services.exe terminated unexpectedly with the status code 1073741819" then the computer would reboot. I have run spyware scans, virus scans and adware scans and removed all the spyware and adware tha was found. There was nothing found using Microsoft Malware remover Tool. I attempted to repair the XP install and that is when the blue screen with the stop code named in the title appeared when I rebooted. Is or has anyone else had and resolved this issue? If so please let me know how.

While not a [problem] after 6 or so years it's becoming rather annoying.I also understand that while the mouse is connected to the PS/2 prt the refresh or Sample rate can be reg tweaked to 200Hz which I have done, but it seems to have had no effect.I understand that the refresh rate could be increased to 500Hz by connecting it to a USB port, but that this can cause severe resources problems. Does anyone know if this is correct. Or if the Sample rate can be safely increased above 200 w/o blowing up my cute little mouse?I am using a Logitech standard optical mouse with XP Hone. I had to remove the manufacturers mouse driver has it was causing the options to freak-out, in particular the wheel that would constantly appear on the screen and entrap and lock-up the mouse.

View 2 Replies View RelatedDownload the "Corp" version of Win XP Pro, file-sharing or torrent, and then run validation, fail, and get MS to sell you a retail copy of 1/2 price. Do the same thing, download Corp XP Pro. Burn a copy to CD on a computer it isn't install on, make up a receipt, and go to the Library and do a search of newspapers for computer shows from a couple years ago.Fill out the forms MS gives you and send in with the CD and receipt, and get MS to send you a retail copy for free. OK, I'm not really advocating anybody doing this, just trying to make a point. If someone is gonna pirate XP to begin with, what makes MS think that people won't be doing things like this? Why isn't retail XP sold at the price that is being offered to people with pirated Windows to begin with?

My problem is that emails have been disappearing at an alarming rate over the last two days. I spent over an hour writing to make a very serious complaint to a major company, saved it to draft and minutes later it had disappeared. Only the heading was left as a draft email.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI am running Windows Vista Home Premium 64-bit right now. However, I am not able to do a few things in it that I could do with XP. Therefore, I just ordered Windows XP Home Edition SP2. I was planning on uninstalling Vista and using XP, but I know you can dual-boot. I want to know if I can run both XP (32 bit) and Vista (64 bit) at the same time? And if so, how do I do it? They are both OEM versions, which I don't know if that matters. But if I can install XP without having to take off Vista,

First which of these two would be better(and why)Also if I could get my hands on either 64 bit, do you think that would be better (I have heard that 32 bit programs such as most games run better in 32 bit OS)?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a 1tb My Book Premium II drive. I'm accessing the drive through Windows XP Media Edition 2004. The External HD is connected via USB (I don't have Firewire or Firewire 2.0 on my laptop.) I have had little to no issues with this external hd, and have previously used the 160 gig version for over 2 years. I've got 550gb free meaning I've used it quite a bit. The 1tb drive is around 6 months old so far and I've got two complaints vs no solution. My files are sorted in the external hd similar to Window's. I have a Main folder, several categories of folders, then more folders within each... I archive lots of music, some videos, personal documents, and tons of pictures.I have been downloading various files directly to my hd, keeping my 160 gb laptop's hd clear of various files (Is this a bad idea??)
I use SoulSeek and Azeurus - both of which are compatible with Windows and tweaked appropriately. I attempt to access the files from My Computer and frequently experience an Explorer Crash. The severity is varying generally the Dr.Watson debugger will crash along with explorer... and on other occasions, I get no warning pop-up at all. I'm at a complete loss as to why this occurs. I can access the files with the download program(s) running, as well as closed both resulting with a crash. I have attempted to view the files through Mozilla and IE, both work properly, but it's an inconvenience.Anyone have similar problems? I have not found this exact issue on other forums... but I'm getting the picture WD drives do have problems.
Have you ever had headache while playing a game? Did you ever noticed a low refresh rate in your game? Here is a solution how to change it.1. Select Start > Run, and type "dxdiag".2. When the dialog appears find the last tab, and click "Override" (or somthing similar).2. Just type your Value (be careful, dont type a value that your graphics card or monitor can't do!). Click Ok, and that is it!Remember you changed the refresh rate only for DirectX Applications, not for OpenGL.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI bought an HP Pavilion p6101f that came with Vista Home Premium installed on it. I bought an OEM version of Windows XP Pro with the intention of downgrading the operating system. I was told that our network, which runs mostly XP Pro machines, might suffer problems if we installed a computer not running Vista - I guess mismatched OS's might pose problems. In any event, after I booted to Vista, I could not see an option to "Install" XP upon seeing the associated dialog box after inserting the disc while in the middle of a successful Vista session. I then tried to boot to the XP CD, in order to install XP and then restore the system.I kept getting the Blue-Screen of Death.
The computer will begin to boot Fedora (Linux), Windows 7 repair disk, and maybe some others - but not XP Pro.
I want to install Windows XP Pro on my buddy's computer that came with Vista, but I am physically incapable of doing so.
But I wanted to know how do I install Windows XP operating system on my external hard drive. I am currently running Windows Vista Premium on my desktop. Please advise me regarding this question.

I need to have excel and power point and word at least, if not outlook and publisher too. I simply can't figure out which would be my best option, any suggestions?
