PC Keeps Blue Screening / Hardware Or Software?
Apr 14, 2008
My computer has been Blue Screening a lot recently making it basically unusable.Here are the stop codes within the last 24hrs. I also took a photo of the screen so you can read the full message:
***STOP: 0x000000F4 {0x00000003, 0x88CBB790, 0x88CBB904, 0x805011F8}
***STOP: 0x0000007A {0xC05D35E8, 0xC000009D, 0xBA6BD2A0, 0x3C3D2860}
Every time it is different, sometimes the error is just along the lines of Unknown Hard Error. The BSOD seem to happen at any time; before Windows boots up, in Safe Mode, or in Windows whilst doing nothing or using software etc. Though it usually happens in spells i.e. several crashes in quick succession then reboot and it can be fine for a few hours. During this stable time .Ive tried to get it to crash on purpose by loading up lots of programs to try and strain the system, but it seems fine. I thought it might have been the hard drives, but after using a program called HDD Regenerator to check for errors it found 0 bad sectors. I have also tried reinstalling all the Windows system files from a partition on the hard drive set up by the manufacturer (MESH Computers), and running several Scandisks, which seemed to fix the problem for a while. Ive also done all the usual spyware and virus scans.
This morning while trying to boot into safe mode I got an error saying Windows could not start.Does it sound like a hardware or software error? I had to replace the chipset fan on my motherboard a few months ago and Im wondering if it overheated and some permanent damage was done? Formatting the hard drives is really last resort for me.

My computer has become more and more prone to failure lately. I turned it on last night and left for a while only to come back to a blue screen. Sometimes shortly after booting up, it will freeze momentarily, the red HDD light stays lit, and then will come back after about a minute or 2. Not to mention every time I boot up, I get to my desktop no problem, but then I have to sit and wait for several minutes while something loads. I dont know what it is. If i put my cursor in the task bar, it becomes the hour glass and I cannot click anything. After a few minutes, my icons start showing up in the lower right corner and I can go about my business.
I have checked to see if anything is running and taking up a lot of resources on start up. I have made sure nothing unnecessary starts up. I have AVG and checked to see if that was causing problems and after an uninstall showed that it was not the problem, I system restored back. I have run virus scans, adware, spyware, disk defrags, registry derags, registry checks, mem test, pretty much everything under the sun. I have even posted on here several times. So I guess this is a challenge to see who can solve this problem, preferably without reinstalling because honestly, if I am going to reinstall, I am just going windows 7.

My Dell Inspiron 2650 laptop on boot-up consistently gives a blue screen with ERROR (0X000000ED (0X81ACA988, 0XC0000006,0X00000000,0X00000000). I have read most of your fixes BUT in my case no matter what I do it ALWAYS boots to this screen. Trying to boot to Safe Mode results in a list of drivers prefixed by ?multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)c:windowsdriver.sys etc The machine will not boot from Floppy or CD and I?ve tried every combination of boot sequence under the F12 menu. In the BIOS it will not allow me to change any relevant settings, only the ?system date?, ?system time? and ?quiet boot?.and I cannot select the dropdown menu items either. Booting under Normal Startup, I see the Windows Logo and all that, but then the blue screen appears. I?ve tried removing the hard disk to get it to boot to floppy, removing the battery (which is totally dead), memory module, etc. Only thing left I think is to sling it in the Caribbean Ocean and go drink a bottle of rum.

so every time i boot the computer i get that good ol' blue screen of death right where windows should open to my desktop.. instead it says "welcome" with the light blue background.. the screen goes black and then comes back with the blue screen.. the message on the screen says:
stop: 0x0000007a (0xe16dac70, 0xc0000185, 0xbf985c66, 0x20e18860)
win32k.sys - address bf985c66 base at bf800000, datestamp 41107f7a
beginning dump of physical memory dumping physical memory to disk: and counts up to 100 then the computer restarts. i was able to get into safe mode to try a system restore but when the computer restarted it never finished the install (it actually gave me the confirmation that the restore was successful while i was doing a repair install later on) i have tried going through the windows install disc repair utility and doing a chkdsk /p and a chkdsk /r upon doing /r it froze at 53 percent and did not move (i left it for a good 4 hours the first time before restarting it.. and then over night the second time.. and both times it never passed 53 percent............

A Dell Dimension 3100,
I've gotten the deadly blue screen and Dell says it's not covered by the warranty. The screen began with "Stop 0x0000008E (0xC0000005, 0xF7928007, 0xA9EE4AB8, 0x00000000). I read through some of the Blue Screen threads and see that some kind souls out there normally request the minidump files.
I'll attach the files as soon as I figure out how to do it. I'll be keeping my fingers crossed so I don't use them to pull out all my hair.

Stop: 0x0000008e (0xc0000005, 0x818doo12, 0xf94e6b20, 0x00000000)
Here is what I found on the dreaded Microsoft Knowledge base..http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=315335&sd=RMVP.
It tells me that I have a memory problem. I moved the memory card to a different slot with no result. Question.Is there any way that I can remove a program to open up some space ?
ie,going to the directory and removing a program from there.

Since Win XP (+ service pack and annoying CA EZ Trust virus software; anyone know how to keep the ez firewall software from loading at startup?), my computer will crash intermittently - with no seeming pattern. No blue screen, no warning, just 'bang'; I kill the powercord, turn it back on and it's like nothing happened to the unit. there's often no event of the crash in the error reporting queue sometimes crash occurs and startup prompts for a diskcheck; never a problem there. This phenomena occurs most frequently when I'm (trying) running a backup - or when I do an extended virus search backup routine I can't complete without a crash; virus check has gone thru completely a number of times.

I'm trying to fix my friend Emachine that he got about a year ago, it has a 80 gig hard drive, 512 ram. When I took a look at it I tried to boot it up and it started to load windows xp and then just stopped and started over again and kept reapting this process untill I shut down the computer. I continued to us fdisk and format at the dos promt to format the disk and then tried to load windows xp over again. It got almost all the way done then it went to this big blue screen saying the windows couldnt be loaded and that I shuld check if there is any new hardware..ect, and there is nothing new in the computer. I than figured I would try killdisk and a few other methods to totally clean the hard drive thinking there could be a virus deep in the MBR and not matter what I do I keep getting the same message over and over. I may be over looking something or could be just having a blond moment as it were but I have been working on this for the last three days and I am running out of idea's.

my husband, in trying to be helpful, decided to try to clean my Microsoft split key keyboard (the one that's sealed & is NOT supposed to be opened). When he reconnected the keyboard, he started a cascade failure in my W2K Pro (SP4). The most recent error code is "0x000000D1 (0x00000017, 0x00000002, 0x00000000, 0xEB77B691) Address EB77B691 base at EB778000, DateStamp 3e25babe-uhcd.sys" I've tried the recovery console in the W2K disk with no result. I can boot in safe mode and the event viewer lists numerous missing paths & drivers. Any suggestions short of sacrificing a goat @ midnight? (or even worse, reformatting & starting over - over 17 gigs of data & programs that I really can't afford to have disappear into cyberspace.

I have a Prolink Hurricane 9601C Modem. It has two LED's indicating Power and Link. As of recently, the Link LED, starts to flash on and off, and all network connections get terminated. The Driver software of the Modem stops responding. I tried to unplug the network cable and re attaching it, but nothing happens.... The System will not shutdown either. Once windows logs off, I get this Blue Screen Error.A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer.

In prior post, it was suggested I do a repair installation. I did. Now I get the Blue STOP screen w/ 0x0000007e (0xc0000005, 0xf782f750, 0xf7a46454, 0xf7a46154) on the 1st startup after in stall. This is a 200gig HD w/ over 123gig open, so know it is not HD space. New MB & CPU & mem so would not think it is BIOS out of date. See hardware below in my prior post.I read the MS support http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=330182&sd=RMVP.I have a pre SP1 version of XP Home Edition. I just did a repair, so the SP2 should still be active; right? I cannot start in safe mode because the install never completed.Have an old 60gig HD and did a fresh install on it, but there were numerous files that would not copy. I let it complete the install, but it took forever. 39 minute countdown took over 2 hrs. Then when it finally did finish to the 2nd reboot, it asked me for an admin password, but I never entered one. Because I did not know the password, it would not let me proceed.I removed the old video drivers & installed the new ones before doing the XP repair.Do I just need to start over with a new XP version w/ SP2? or will this be wasted money?

I'm not really sure what I did to make it happen, but I was just chatting with some people on AOL instant messenger when my computer changed to a blue screen. The message was something along the lines of. A problem has been detected and windows has shut down to prevent damage to your computer. Then it gave me some technical information (which im assuming is what's causing these problems) and it was like 0x346432HF, 0x3456DFGH (those aren't the actual values, it was just 0x[8 characters].It also said to restart my computer and run CHDSK /F to check for any hard drive problems.So I restart my computer, and everything is fine until I reach the login screen. I click on my user account and then type in my password, and halfway through that sound you hear when your computer is starting up, I get the same blue screen again. Next, I restart my computer and try to start it from the last time it worked. Blue screen during start up again.I try starting it in safe mode, blue screen during start up.I was hoping someone here would be able to help me so I won't have to resort to reformatting my computer. I really don't want to reformat my computer because I have some old games I still play like Starcraft, but I lost the cd key to it ages ago.

im hoping someone can help me out of a jam. my dell laptop has been working very well until now....when it refuses to load windows, instead stalling with a blue screen on every attempt to load. the bluscreen tells me that windows was unable to load, and says "unmountable_boot_volume." under the heading "technical information". i have no idea whether that is relevant but included it in case it is.i know i was short on memory, and im wondering whether windows is refusing to load because of that.or whether a virus has taken over me computer. ive tried loading windows in every safe mode, in last known good configuration.is there a hotkey to load the DOS prompt before windows, to try and edit the windows registry from there? is there anything i can do short of reformating and reinstalling windows? if anyone knows how to deal with this.

I have recently been getting a blue screen when i start up my computer. The error message on the blue screen says "page fault in non paged area". It then asks if I want to start windows normally, or in safe mode or other options. I start it normally cause I don't know what to do to fix it. I haven't added new software, so I don't know what happened.
