Dec 13, 2009Deleted the main user. Now he is logging on the pc using a guest account which he also created. how can i get back and log into the admin. is there a any specific user name and password that i might write and log in? or what are the exact steps? i tried from Safe mode. but also couldn't log in.

In trying to removed the Deleted Items folder the sub-folder went with it. There were a large number of messages I had received via e-mail that I intended to keep.

I had forgotten I had my external hard drive still plugged in and I accidently deleted the partition for it and created a new one. Apr 25, 2008So i recently had to reinstally windows xp on my gateway laptop, The option I had to save some files I chose, so It created a folder - MY Back up on my C:/ drive. Now That it's been a while I want to delete that folder but it keeps telling me I can't that access is denied. any ideas how to get rid of this folder? It's almost 35 gigs on my 80 gig hard drive.

Oct 25, 2008I was using the RegCleaner and clearing out some unused keys made by programs i no longer had on the computer.It was simple enough and nothing going wrong, no harm done. I went to go take a piss and when i came back i found my buddy on my PC.He asked "what the H*** is all this??" and i said "its my registry" and he goes "o you dont need any of that" and no sooner did those words come outa his mouth did he press Shift + A & DELETE and poof..all my reg keys were gone.i dunno if i have a back up present.what i can say is that every time i try to click on something now it says its either been moved, deleted, or renamed..nothing works anymore besides my internet. i cant even run .zip files because it says there is no program to do it with. theres no program to "open" files with. all because my screw up friend over here decided he knew what he was doin with my pc.

Jul 27, 2005I am trying to reinstall Nero, but it crashes during installation. I am in discussion with Ahead tech support, but I *think* the problem is with the registry. The Local_MachineSoftware tree has a key titled 'Ahead'. But when I select it I get an error message: Cannot open Ahead: Error opening key.The name, type, and data fields are all blank. I cannot delete or rename the key. I think that it causes the crash during installation when it tries to install one or more keys to that tree.I have used a registry cleaner, which from what I read here, I shouldn't have.

I have dozens like KB890923.log created during windows update, as well as the windowsupdate.log itself - fast approaching 3Mb. Would deleting these affect future updates? I also have several 3Mb+ CDF files - two of which current and with names like {000-001-A0F12...}.cdf and .bak, but others which apparently haven't been modified for 3 years, with names like Ctdv10k1.cdf, Ctdv10k2.cdf and Ctdvaudy.cdf - I imagine these files contain info about the multimedia devices and drivers installed - if I delete the old ones and keep the recent ones, am I safe?

When I press empty recycle bin it gives me the usual warning, 'Are you sure you want to delete these files', But the bin still has the full icon and if i press empty bin again, The same thing happens. Also, When deleting files it says, 'Do you wish to delete?' and gets deleted without going to the recycle bin. I have checked my recycle bins properties and the box 'Delete without sending to recycle bin' is not checked.

Mar 22, 2007what's happened here is that on a failed attempt at reinstalling XP with a copy (after restart it asks to insert the XP SP2 disc) I went into boot.ini to delete the "windows xp professional setup" option but accidentally removed the actual XP entry instead. Now it gives me no option to start the computer normally, even when going through safe mode, the only option is to start up with the XP Set up. Is it impossible to get into the computer through the OS now, because none of my XP Set Up discs are working as they're all copies, my original is now in another state with my father.

Feb 12, 2007Firstly we have a custom built C program which uses the Borland Database engine and at random intervals users will recieve an error pointing to the fact that the BDE cannot be initialised. After a bit of investigation I have found that the whole HKLMSoftwareBorland hive is missing from the registry. I can rule out user because even to get into the registry as admin is a chore due to group policy. It seems that on machines that also have Adobe Photoshop and Acrobat Writer that the latter 2 programs freeze after this error happens in the C app All of the above can be fixed by reinstall of the appshow can I try and track down just what is deleting these reg keys?

Mar 10, 2006i have this one problem. i created new folder in total commander (F7) and named it whatever. the folder was created but those last three slashes didnt appear in the name. i wanted to delete (DEL key) it but it didnt work... the folder was still there without any error message. i ran checkdisk (correct errors etc.) and then tryed to del it. i finally downloaded some erase program that should do the deleting. but again it didnt work. i really dunno what should i do besides formating the disc. any ideas what could work?
