I am able to drag windows completely under the taskbar and thus lose them. In order to click on them again I have to drag the tasbar somewhere else, and then either move the offending window, or drag the taskbar back, thus causing it to realise that a window is where it shouldn't be and moving it up a bit. I have tried toggling all the taskbar options, such as always on top to no avail. I'm using Windows XP sp2, updated via WinDiz.
In my previous topic i thought i had solved my problem although now this error comes up on start up you can check it hear > http://forums.techguy.org/t318684.html
Pressing CTRL, ALT, DELETE does not start task manager and there is no error msg.
Any help would be appreciated.

Recently the tasks in my Task Scheduler have stopped running - "Could not start". When I try to check the properties of the task, I get a "General page initialization failed. The specific error is 0x80090016: Keyset does not exist. An error has occurred attempting to retrieve task information. You may continue editing the task object, but will be unable to change task account information." As the error message says, I can edit the task, but the task still won't initiate as scheduled.I've not had much luck googling this error,
Using XP With as far as I know latest updates. My Problem is that when I press Ctrl/Alt/Del for my task manager all I get is the LAN AREA CONNECTION box which I am unable to close without a reboot. This started at the same time as a browser hijack which I have now cured, related or coincidence I don`t know. Can anybdy help in getting me back to a fully accessable task manager.
i recently had a virus and i managed to get rid of it using Windows Defender and SpyBot, When i had the virus It kept loading up Limewire. So i uninstalled Limewire to stop it from doing that. then it carried on trying to load Limewire with Java so i got an Error. So i uninstalled Java. and it's stopped.
I'm running windows XP SP2 When I press Ctrl / Alt / Delete the system displays a message saying "Task manager has been disabled by your administrator". I have a stand alone PC not connected to a network so I'm guessing that a rogue piece of software has done this.
when i start this error message shows up... Generic Host Process for Win32 Services has encountered a problem and needs to close it is scaring the life out of me because so far it has caused MAJOR problems, when i close a window, the taskbar will not be in winxp view but an older versions, and it has messed up my sound. when i click on the sound icon it says "there are no active mixer devices available." the sound problem has never happened before
i am having some problems with my task manager. i can't seem to open it. and everytime i try.. an error shows up saying that my task manager has been disabled by the administrator.. i wasn't doing anything when that happened. i was only copying some pictures from a digicam. then that error showed up. then when i restarted the computer another error showed up. it said that rvhost.exe cannot be found.
My computer was recently infected with adware, spyware & some viruses. I have downloaded and run Ad-Aware, Symantec Antivirus, Spybot, Registry Mechanic & HijackThis. When I try to run Regedit, I get an error message telling me:regedit is not a valid Win32 application
Thanks for your help.
Here is my HijackThis Log:

when I click on task manager it only shows the running task window. it used to have a list of all startup stuff and a thing where I could look at a graph of cpu usage, but those are not there anymore
on starting up pc the task bar freezes for approx 15mins & only the egg timer is showing, can access desktop icons, however not all programs launch on task bar. what appears to be the issue, is it hardware or software
I am trying to create a task using Task Scheduler, and it asks me to "set account information". I am given three boxes. One of them, marked Run as has "COMPUTERJesse" already filled in. The other two are marked Password and Confirm Password. This is odd, because I am running under an Admin account (yes, generally not smart, but I'm smarter than the average bear when it comes to computers, so I feel confident I'm not going to mess it up with downloading viruses and such
I clicked OK to get out of the "Set Account Information" box, and in the entry for my task, the Status is listed as "Could not Start", Last Result is "0x0", and Creator is "Jesse". how can I get Task Scheduler to run the task and most of all, obey my authori-tah?
I recently downloaded some media files and straight after my computer slowed down to a crawl and then would not respond. The mouse pointer remains active but i cannot click on anything succesfully. The task bar and task manager do not respond at all, i can open files saved on my desktop but cannot do anything when they're open and cannot close them again. I reset my PC a number of times but this did not solve the problem. I assume this is a virus or spyware problem but could it possibly be anything else?
You know how after you end a program using End Task in Task Manager, it asks you if you want to tell Microsoft about the problem? I was able on my other XP system to change an option somewhere so it doesn't ask me that any more. I just can't remember how I did it.
At times, I have this problem. When I tries to "End Task" of some program, Windows Task manager refused. The same will happen to Process Viewer that comes with Norton SystemWorks
I am running Win XP-SP2. I wiped my hard drive due to irresolvable software conflicts. I reinstalled XP-SP2, Office, Norton, the printer and scanner and my digital camera software package. All were updated and working perfectly until Sunday. I booted up the machine only to get a warning that says One of your disks may have errors let the computer reboot itself (which it will do repeatedly, stuck in a reboot loop) or you can hit any key to ignore this warning. You have only ten seconds to read all this and make a decision.
Once the computer boots up, everything seems to work as normal except for system restore. I tried to restore to the day after I reformatted and installed everything and all I get is an error saying Cannot restore to that point, please choose another point to restore tooor something to that effect.
Task just did not run. Sometimes it reports that it did but it didn't. Each time we can run it manually but it doesn't run as scheuduled. I've deleted the task and set it all up again, but it still won't run.
I'd like to run defrag as a scheduled task while I am asleep. Basic setup is easy. Found the command in Windows/System folder. But that just opens the defrag console. At that stage it is necessary to chose analyze or defrag. I want to set it up to automatically defrag. How do I do that?
I am having an Icon in the Task Bar that pops up: "Your Computer Is Infected" and goes to a website: www.necessaryupdates.com, and to www.spyfalcon.com?
The 'start' taskbar on my computer has gone and i cannot get it back working. i've tried restarting my computer and it shows the taskbar for about 20 seconds and then it goes.i dont know what to do and its really frustrating.

However when I click on 'Task Manager" I get nothing. All the other selections work fine execpt the display of the 'Task Manager'. Can someone help me out here.

For some strange reason my task bar is slow to show up when I load windows. I recently did quite a bit of house-cleaning and got my overall start-time to something acceptable but my taskbar still wants to take it's time showing up when once it was there instantly.
so my task bar has disappeared and i have no idea why. everything else on the computer seems to be running fine except for this annoying issue.actually i tried to do a system restore to the last time i remember it working but the computer couldn't do it.
Bottom right... where the clock is.... called "The notification area". I am not seeing open programs. When I try to adjust that, through right clicking taskbar, properties...to where I should be able to select "Hide inactive icons"?, it is grayed out. I can not select it.
