Installing Drivers / Hardware - XFi Sound Card
Nov 3, 2006For some reason Windows keeps telling me that ALL drivers i install aren't "Windows Logo verified" and asks me if i wanna procceed or not, while this might seem normal i know that its not, becouse drivers that i used to install with no problems now this happens. Also i have LOTS ( and i really mean LOTS ) of "Found new hardware what action do you want to take" dialogs during an hardware instalation when this also didn't used to happen before. For example i just installed my X-Fi Sound Card, before it would install with no prompts what so ever, now when i'm installing it i had about 15 prompts telling me that it found new hardware and i had to choose "Find drivers automaticly", and after i did that i would get the "Driver is not Windows Logo Verified" prompt. It all seems to work fine eitherway if i just choose "continue" with the prompts, however this is becoming quite annoying since it happens for every driver i install.

Mar 11, 2010The CPU usage spikes to 100% regularly according to the windows task manager. It causes sound to shudder. I thought it might be fixed if I updated the sound card drivers, but I made a bit of a mess of it, and there was no sound until I managed to resurrect the previous driver. The computer is quite old, and I have added ram (1.43GB) I've scanned using AVG with no results. I've also defragmented using Smart Defrag.

Mar 13, 2006I started another thread a couple of days ago but have progressed a bit since then so thought i would start a fresh one.I have recently formatted my hard drive and lost drivers for my soundcard. I have been onto my motherboard manufacturers website and downloaded the appropriate driver. This worked (or so i thought) the ?Media Controller in device manager disappeared and my soundcard appeared. Media player plays CDs now, as do all my other sound related programs. The problem is i still can't hear any sound!

Sep 1, 2009laptop has got the ZLOB virus and I am trying to get rid of it but I cannot connect to the internet because the drivers for the ethernet card are missing. There is no id on the laptop apart from the COA for XP and Z600 on a sticker underneath it. How can I find out what make it is so I can find the drivers. I don't mind paying for the drivers or a virus remover as long as they work.

May 23, 2009While I was deployed my wife inserted an Mini SD card in to the card reader built into the computer. When she removed the card windows locked up, as soon as she reinserted the card windows worked fine. She removed the mini SD card from the adapter to use in her phone, and windows still worked fine, but as soon as she removed the Mini SD adapter from the card reader windows locked up and the windows would hang during start-up with out the adapter. Reinserting the adapter cured the freeze and hang, but windows ran very slow.I removed and reinstalled the card reader drivers and was able to remove the adapter, but windows still hangs on start-up with out the adapter placed in the slot.

Jan 1, 2006Whenever i install drivers on my pc, (i've tried graphics card drivers and wireless network card drivers) my pc stops working. When i installed the graphics card drivers, i tried testing the graphics on a game (counter-strike) but as soon as i got into the game, the pc flashes a blue screen, and reboots. I cant see what the blue screen says because it flashes on and off again to quick for me to read it. I decided to uninstall the graphics card drivers, and the game worked perfectly, but the graphics were REALLY bad. So i thought i might need to update some other drivers, so i tried to install my wireless network card, but when i finished installing the drivers when i had to restart my computer, it flashed the BSOD.... AGAIN! I need help urgently as im going to a LAN gaming comp called "rezidue" and its on in 2 weeks, i need my pc fixed by then! All these problems started when i upgraded my CPU. Everything was running smooth, and i was happily playing along on my computer, when i was asked what my FPS was in counter-strike, and i was all "mine are 65!" and there like "wow that sucks, mines 130" so i set out on my epic quest to get better FPS then everyone else and MAN THAT WAS A MISTAKE. I upgraded from my celeron 2.8ghz cpu to a P4 3.0ghz HT cpu, and thats when things started messing up on me. My entire system is as follows (incase it can help someone help me) P4 3.0ghz HT CPU, Microstar P4 motherboard, 128mb Nvidia Geforce mx4000 AGP x8 graphics card, 256MB ddr ram (recently brought new 1GB ddr ram off ebay just for rezidue! should be here soon!) OnBoard Sound / Sound Card Not Found
Apr 11, 2007This started last night, the only thing that I did that was out of the ordinary was ran Avast's thourough scan fully, but even after that my sound worked, so it didnt delete the driver to my knowlege, but when I do a dxdiag and look at my audio, it doesn't exist, there is no sound card installed, and allI use is my DFI Lan Party UT RDX200 CF-DR mother boards on board sound. I tried installing the driver again fom DFI and to no success, now when I went to install the drive again, I got an error saying that this device isnt approved by Windows. Could windows be preventing my audio card from working?
No Sound With Sound Blaster Live Card
Feb 26, 2009I did a reinstall of Windows XP and I can't get the sound to work. Here is the sound card:Sound Blaster Live! Platinum rev.5 CT4760P. My computer is upgraded and so it is a hybrid system. I downloaded the driver for Sound Blaster Live! from the website and it still has the same problem. To be sure there was no on board sound, I took out the card and the computer said I had no audio devices which means there isn't a on-board sound card.

Sound Drivers No Sound Coming Out Of Computer
Apr 9, 2008This is about sound issues from the computer as in cant get sound from the computer.Went to computer properties then multi media controller has yellow question mark next to it so tried to update driver it goes to the wizard but it will not find any drivers for it without a cd which dont have. Tried roll back drivers says no drivers are backed up on file. Went to sound audio video game controllers audio codecs says all the codecs are working for this computer. Control panel sound audio says no sound device is connected. The sound card is realtek ALC655 AC 97 enhanced audio controller. Again got these drivers from foxxconn and exactly same issues. Extracted the files easily enough from wizard but when go to exe run folder the run it says cannot find setupfilex.dll. Then go to gxdver it dont do anything. Go to exe icon run and logger then it goes cannot run please find the setup exe file from the directory. In the folders cannot seem to find anything that will install the actual drivers without a conflicting issue somewhere. So everytime download this compressed driver folders for the drivers it has problems when the files are extracted.The sound card is enabled and mutli media controller says code 28 drivers not installed.

Feb 5, 2005I got my updated Display driver no problem, but the Sound is another story. According to the DirectX Diagnostic Tool, I was using a Crystal Audio Driver from Cirrus Logic. So, I Googled a newer version of the driver and found one. When I told it to install, nothing happened, so I thought, well, I'll just uninstall my first one and then install this new one and everything will work. After I uninstalled my previous driver, the new one still wouldn't install. So I tried to reinstall the driver. Then I downloaded a driver from the official Cirrus web site and every time I click the "install" button, a message always pops up saying "Driver didn't install correctly." It doesn't tell me why or how or ANYTHING. And now my computer has no sound! Whenever I check the DirectX Diagnostic Tool, it tells me, "No sound card was found."

Mar 14, 2005compaq 4000 seris computer.celeron 1.4 256 of pc 133 ram. 20gig harddrive.Its running windows xp and they use the aol dial up service 8.0 ( they dont like 9.0).Now they said they had some spyware or something on the machine. i told them to run adaware and see if that would do it. Little did i know that they had aboutblank hack. well i *with some help from the nice guys at the boreds here* fixed that but now her aol internet wiill not work. So to fix some of the other things wrong with her pc i was ganna bring it to my house and use my charter broadband internet to use on the machine. Well the eithernet card the pc allready had installed is a SMZ EZ Card 10/100 pci (SMC1211TX).
Windows will not load the driver for this card makeing the use of my net impossible... its the code 31, windows cannot load the drivers for this device. Ive tired everything from unistalling the driver, reinstalling, updateing everything. then when i looked at the driver details it is trying to use a realtek driver for the card? I need some serous help here guys and i really appreciate it. Ive tried all i can think of to get it to work so i dont have to bug you all.

Dec 22, 2007I want to update my video card drivers because my video card is acting up and I want to see if new drivers will fix it.I printed out the instructions from ATI's site and followed it exactly. I used Add/Remove Programs and clicked on the ATI Software Uninstall Utility. I rebooted the computer. I went into Safe Mode. I tried to install the drivers.Upon doing this, every time I run the setup to install the new drivers, I get this error message:"INF Error: Video Driver Not Found" This happens if I try to install the latest Catalyst version. This happens if I try to install an older Catalyst version.This even happens if I try to reinstall the drivers that I just had (it installed fine before so why is the 5.11s giving me that error now)!

May 22, 2007For several months I have had a problem with windows xp restarting - a stop error - caused by- according to Microsoft (when I report the error) - a device driver. the only device with new drivers that I have added is the video card. The problem has recently gotten worse - the computer now either restarts or freezes after 20 - 25 minutes (it even did this when I was operating in Safe mode). HP tech support suggested that I remove the video card and see what happens - result was the same. I suspect some type of hardware problem. Oct 5, 2007My sound is intermittent-what I mean by this is that one day I have sound and the next I have no sound. So the procedure I run through is to go into Admin Tools, go to Windows Audio-make sure the Start-up is listed as Automatic. I check the Service Status and make sure it's Started. If I shut my computer down for the night, restart in the AM it always reverts back to Service Status as labeled STOP-so I go through the same procedure again. I have down a clean boot with my system-uninstalled my sound card drivers, in fact uninstalled anything to do with the sound card-reinstalled again-I even replaced my sound card wondering if that was the problem-I am to find out that it most likely is not my sound card-I have sound as I am typing this question.

The laptop has a Nvidia 8600M GS video card, and I cannot for the life of me find any drivers for the video card that work with XP. The drivers on Nvidia's website are not for laptops, and I have seen on other forums that there are driver issues with HP notebooks and XP.When I boot Windows XP, images load very slowly and my video card does not even show up in the device manager. Does anyone know if there's a way to get drivers for this card that work in XP?
