Copy A Stream Of Audio Without Copying The Video?
Aug 22, 2005
I have a sony viao and on the front there is a little door.Inside that little door there are RCA jacks, 2 of which are for audio. Is there a way to copy a stream of audio, only, without copying the video? Is there a program there that does this? Program-wise, all I see is video recording stuff, nothing for audio only.I want audio only.

I have managed to put video footage onto my PC from a video cassette (by plugging my VCR into the TV aerial socket). The video footage is saved on my PC as .mpg files & when I open them, they play fine on Windows Media Player. When I import them on to Windows Movie Maker, they are recognised as video footage and I am able to put them into the collections as video. However, for some reason, when I drag them onto the timeline, they go onto the audio line & I can't get them to go on the video line, so when I play it, the sound plays but there is no picture. I have tried saving them as .AVI files but that makes no difference

I'm trying to back up some stuff to an external hard drive. And there are errors in movies that I have ripped (because I either forget to put them back in the case or they get lost) some movies and whenever I try to move the video file (ripped int a AUDI0_TS file and a VIDEO_TS file) I have an error box where the title of the window in the blue bar says "Error Copying File or Folder" and in the window (the gray part) it says "Cannot copy VTS_01_2" Data error (cyclic redundancy check).". And then I click the "OK" button and it stops the transfer. The VTS_01_2 is sometimes replaced with whatever file that cannot be transferred or that is causing the problem. I used DVDShrink and DVD43 to back them up. I am running Windows XP sp3 and transferring them onto a 300 GB hard drive.

I'm using Win XP. Recently, in running video files, I'm getting audio, but the video portion is blank. My player is Windows Media Play 10, with current codecs. Preferences for the player are set to include all types of video files. I also have QuickTime installed, and DivX, although I don't use them. No previous problem like this. I've reinstalled Media Player and have the latest codecs package to go with it. Video files most used are .avi and .mpeg. I've got 512 ram, and that has not been a problem in the past. So, I'm guessing my video card has soured.

This applies also to my DVD's using the player, and these are DVD's which have worked on this machine before.

Stttutttering audio and video.
I have 5 hard drives in this system. My music files reside on the second SATA drive. When I am listening to music, it will stutter if I am doing any disk reading or writing, even when I am using a networked computer to access files on the machine. The videos on the other two SATA drives do the same thing; those hard drives are dynamically linked. The PATA drive has DivX movies on it, they dont stutter quite as bad. I have tried reinstalling the OS, without any other third party software, virus, or internet security programs (I dont network or connect to the Internet when I do that). That doesnt remedy the problem. I remove Windows components to the basic level. None of those steps work. I make sure all of the drivers and updates are current. The problem occurs with almost all software: WMP, Real Player, Quick Time, Pinnacle, MightSoft, and others. When I stream audio or video from the network or the net, it doesnt happen. I tried a couple of registry fixers they didnt work either. If someone could point me in the correct direction, I would be mighty pleased. I dont want to upgrade to Vista or another computer at this time. Otherwise, everything works just fine. I will upgrade to a dual or quad in about six months or so after Vista is more stable. However, I think I will keep this one as my sound system if I can correct this problem. I am not unintelligent (well maybe just a little slow out of the gate).

I get a weird message "Cannot find the file. If you are trying to burn, play, or sync an item that is in your library, the item might point to a file that has been moved, renamed, or deleted." All that for a single audio cd!.Auto play is checked on, any information from the Internet has been unchecked. I just can't find a solution.I run Windows XP Pro SP2, fully updated. I have win xp sp2 fully update with all drivers etc upto date. WMP11 was working fine and I can't figure what has caused the issue.
All video files play, but only the audio, the screen remains blank. This applies to local files or steaming from places such as mlb.tv etc.
I have tried removing WMP11, and 10 but nothing allows media files to play. No other software would work either. I finally got VLC to work by selecting OpenGL mode, but that would work in no other mode either.
I have checked I have all codecs, tried removing all and re adding, but nothing seems to work.

i have a problem with audio on all internet buffers and it wasnt doing this before i tried installing the latest version of winamp 5.56. it gave me an error message saying the file was corrupted, allowing me to ignore, retry, or abort. i tried ignore and it gave me the message again so i just aborted. after that, any internet buffers have problems. for example, on Internet when watching videos, the video plays just fine, but the audio is choppy but still in sync with the video. video and sound will play for like 10 seconds and then the sound will cut out for 2 or 3 seconds only to come back still in sync with the video.
i have the same issue with netflix and listening to online radio stations.
this is not a slow internet problem

first off my computer is a dell latitude c640 with xp pro. despite its age i have never had any problem watching videos or streaming audio offline. now it is laggy. if i watch a video it will every so often skip and jump. i then listened to a local radio station that is streamed offline and i get the same thing. lag. all video does it, fox on demand, any amazon video on demand i have and even Internet!
its not my internet connection i will say this. i thought of that but knew it could not be. for one thing i have watched videos before and never had that problem. also i am using my colleges internet connection so yes it has enough bandwidth. then there is the fact that it is not just video online. it is also video offline. downloaded amazon on demand skips, ripped dvd's too and when i watch it on dvd it skips too.
it recently started about sunday. if it helps i installed a few programs prior to this problem.
1)video lan http://www.videolan.org/been uninstalled since2)ms office 2007 (highly doubt this is a problem)
3)service pack 3 was installed sunday night(automatic update)

I have been having some troubles with my Compaq Presario (Windows XP) over the past few days including extremely slow start up (about a full 7 minutes to boot up, when it used to take about 3) and a slow shut down process. I have already gone through the msconfig and unchecked everything unnecessary. Also my mouse is a bit jumpy, as in when I drag it, sometimes it stops and needs a second to catch up. (This doesn't occur enough to be a major problem though.) However, I think all of these symptoms may just be side effects, because my main issue that I need resolved is that my audio and video files skip.
In itunes, my audio files play but they skip at least about every minute or when I just begin to play them or fast forward, which is just enough to drive me crazy. The video is the worst though; some videos play as long as I just press play and not click anything else. Other videos, however, have continuous skipping no matter what and are practically unwatchable. I downloaded the most recent version of iTunes but no change.
All audio and video in Windows Media player, Quicktime, streaming from internet, and even the start up sound when I turn on my computer have the same skipping problem. (I tried a DVD and that only skipped in the main menu and once when I first started playing it.)I know that was a long set up but I wanted to give as much info right of the bat. I'm not extremely tech savvy but I appreciate any help anyone can give.

slowness, stalls and really choppy video and audio everywhere on my computer. even the start-up windows chime is all warbly and choppy. i have problems with video stored on my hd, played from a dvd, as well as video online on Internet and my smugmug page. i have not noticed anything in particular taking up a lot of memory in the task manager, but there are an awful lot of programs in there and some duplicates of system processes
here is what i have tried
-removed all unused programs, files
-de-fragged hd
-ran disk cleanup
-removed unneeded programs from start-up process
-ran windows, qt, media player, java and flash updates
-ran virus scanner and registry cleaner
here is what i am working with:
-toshiba tecra a6 laptop, always plugged in to ac power
-windows xp sp2
-intel cpu t1300 @ 1.66ghz
-504 mb ram
-23 gb free space of a 52gb hd
-minimal programs - mostly office 2007, outlook express, nero and adobe plus some tiny insignificant ones like my harmony remote program
-nortons 360 (though i have removed this and still have the problem)
i am pretty comfortable working my way around advanced settings on my laptop and know enough to know what i should not change without help.

My husband has a Toshiba Satellite L25-S1215 which is running Windows XP Service Pack 3. It was working fine, and then suddenly got extremely slow, and the audio on start-up is broken up/stuttering. When playing videos the audio and video is also stuttering. Thought Norton Internet Security might be the problem, and uninstalled it, but problems continue. When computer is turned on, it is VERY slow to bring up Windows, and then extremely slow to connect to IE. Can't even bring up Mozilla Firefox anymore, which he had used for several years with no trouble. While NIS was installed, it showed CPU usage as fluctuating between 10% and 100% with only NIS running. I have done a "hijack this" scan,

Ever since I installed Webroots SpySweeper, my computer has been running much slower than usual - even after I uninstalled the program and all its remanents from my registry. The worst part however, is media. Ever since then, any audio and video does not play properly on the computer - it just lags and plays very choppily. My computer has tested free of any spyware/adware/malware, as well as any viruses. Almost nothing is set to start up with my computer, and the registry is cleaned. As well, Opera is the only web browser I ever use, and I do not have my windows set to automatic update.

I had a 25 min VHS tape that I needed copied to a DVD pronto for my boss. I brought it down to a video duplication place and they burned me a DVD for me. When I brought it back to the office there were some peculiar things happening with the audio:
1) I could not open the DVD video with Windows Media Player (heavily distorted audio) or Real Player (wouldn't open at all).
2) I could open it with "Nero Showtime" (I guess this is like a file player) with good audio and no distortion.

Recently, my computer made a few beeping sounds, shut itself down and rebooted. Nothing happened. The second time it did it, there was no sound. I have Windows XP. When I start up my iTunes, it says iTunes has detected a problem with your audio configuration. Audio/Video playback may not operate properly. With Windows Media Player it says, Windows Media Player cannot play the file because there is a problem with your sound device. There might not be a sound device installed on your computer, it might be in use by another program, or it might not be functioning properly....
