Constant Error In Event Log On Bootup
Oct 18, 2006
I have done a couple of searches and cant seem to find anything, this may be due to my search criteria not being good enough, but hopefully not and im not double posting.I constantly get the following error in event log on bootup and cant seem track down whats causing it.The COM+ Event System detected a bad return code during its internal processing. Please contact Microsoft Product Support Services to report this error. There is nothing in the knowledge base at microsoft for this. If anyone can give me some pointers or a possible direction to go in I would appreciate it.

I've looked at it infrequently, and never could understand what I saw, but today there was something relatively new and scary:...Further info under help and support said an error was detected during a paging file operation. The word "disk" scared me, so I checked the entire Event Viewer, and found 25 of these errors, from Aug 1 2005 through Sep 3 2005. If this event was cataloged earlier, I don't know, because the Event Viewer only goes back to Aug 1. I checked System Restore for Aug 1, 2005 and found a couple of things; 1) an accidental MS "update" to NVIDIA GeForce4 MX driver 5.12 -- but we've had the 6.1.7.7 driver for a long time now. The 5.12 screws up the display resolution, big time. I reinstalled the 6.17; resolution is fine; but I'm wondering if this could have something to do with the Event 51 warning. Also, on that same date, something called Software Distribution Service 2.0 is listed three times, and I don't know why. I don't even know what it is. I've researched the web, and can't find anything that seems to apply -- other than potential for a hard drive crash. Just what I don't need. Meanwhile, the entire system is working extremely well; fast and smooth; no glitches or twitches that I can detect

While viewing video files (contained in folders with over a Gig of contents) this message pops up in a small window: Windows Explorer has encountered a problem and has to close. You can send an Error Report to Microsoft. Then things close down, but everything comes back, except the folder of files that was open before. Then if I go to my "Event Veiwer" under Application I get the 2 Error lines with "event ID 1000 and 1001.

I am a little stumped by this error that came into Tech Support. One of our end users emailed us and stated that he keeps getting windows errors and then of course XP prepares a Error Report to send to Microsoft .I have done an extensive search about the problem on the internet and find this issue a lot. I have just never seen a successful resolution. Some say it is video driver issues, some say spyware. I am not going to sit and guess as what it is. I figured I would ask everyone here at this board and see what I came up with.

I have been getting many errors saying that this page cannot be displayed. I did do a Google search, a search of this forum, and I read the lengthy Microsoft article, which is way over my head. I am getting the impression that there can be many reasons for this happening. I do get a message that says Javascript DoNet Detect. I did do a Windows update right before this started happening.

Every time I refresh a page in internet explorer or sometimes after waiting a few minutes I continuely get an error message saying, "Documents has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience." It then has the text about telling Microsoft about the problem and then the buttons "Send Error Report" and "Don't Send"Well I've done both as you can imagine and I have also started looking at the file that causes the problem everytime I get the error window. It's always a different file, but it is always in the Temp folder.I have tried multiple times using Ad-Ware SE Personal to get rid of the crap on my system and I have gone into internet options and cleared out all history, cookies, temp internet files, and passwords. And I've restarted the computer after this, and to my dismay I still get the error message. The error doesn't seem to be doing any harm yet, but it does get quite annoying after loading a page having an error window pop-up, and giving no help or hint as to a way to correct the error.

When I rebuilt my PC (new mobo, CPU, memory & case) evrything went fine. Moved all the hardware from my old case to the new, re-formatted the hard disk, nice clean install of Windows etc etc. Problem came when trying to install software for my USB cable modem. The software included various connection monitoring tools but I kept getting an error message that a particular file could not be found. In the end I decided to use a LAN cable, (LAN drivers came with the mobo) give the cable software a miss - no problems! However, every time Windows now starts, I keep getting the missing file error message. I checked the registry to see if there was any chance of it being a 'run once' type of file but could'nt see anything (although I'm not overly familiar with the registry). As I said this is just a nuisance - but it would be nice if there was a way to get rid of the error message permanently.

I am getting extremely annoyed with the message that keeps popping up every thirty seconds (see attachment). I don't know why it's searching for some removable media (I think) when my thumb drive is still inserted. I have been having similar problems since the stupid Geek Squad told me I needed a new hard drive and then named it the "H" drive for some reason; now from time-to-time when I try to run programs which (I think) used to be based off my C drive I'll get one of these or a C+++ runtime error window. How can I make this stop? I'm running Windows XP SP3. on an HP desktop. All help is appreciated, as this is a highly annoying problem right now.

Recovering from a nasty virus, used several different programs to get rid of virus. Had a few different error messages coming up after that but i was able to fix them by doing some research. The only problem remaining is now after about 15-20 mins of using the computer the desktop icons and taskbar start disapearing and re-appearing, starts slowly then constant flashing in and out accompanied by an error noise (its the same noise you hear if you press enter over and over again) that becomes constant too until the desktop is completely blank at which point I have to restart the computer.

Instead of getting the graphical splash screen with the blue dots moving from left to right across the screen before the user login screen presents, I am able to select Linux and boot up properly there. Each OS is on its own hard disk. I had earlier saved off each MBR in case I ever had a problem with it. I have checked the MBR for the WinXP disk (i.e. the 0th (1st) sector) on the disk consisting of 512 bytes. It checked out OK with no binary differences, so I am confident that there is no problem with the WinXP MBR or the partitions in it. Obviously there is a problem after control is transferred from the WinXP MBR to bootup WinXP.My strategy now is going to be to run the bootcfg /rebuild command from the Recovery Console after checking out the boot list from the bootcfg command - if I can get that far with the Recovery Console.I do not seem to be able to get into Safe Mode or the Advanced Options screen selection by pressing on the F8 key. My boot.ini file was edited OK and had an extra line to boot into Safe Mode, but that does not work now.
So, my theory is that if all was working as before OK, I should be getting the selection to boot into Safe Mode vs normal bootup with the changes I made to the boot.ini file. Since I am not getting that and experiencing the problem as described above, I am assuming that something is out-of-kilter with the boot.ini file. Also, my last shutdown in the morning yesterday went Ok. What I was doing before I shutdown for lunch was shredding files - everything went OK with no apparent problems, but I wonder whether something went adrift without being noticed and corrupted some files on my system - notably, the boot.ini file - at least this is what I suspect.Anyone see a problem with what I have in mind to do or have a better idea how to fix this problem?

As my XP computer boots up an error message flashes by and then disappears and the computer continues to boot. All seems well. Im fairly sure its from a prior program, Acronis something or other that I deleted. It was a program similar to Norton Ghost for backing up and rebooting in case of emergency that gave you the option to press F11 during boot up if you wanted to it use it in an emegenecy. Anyway, how do I edit it out of there? It drives me nuts. I also think both my boot time and shutdown/restart times are slower than what they were or should be.

An odd thing has started to happen recently with my PC.On booting up, just before Windows (XP Pro) starts to load up, I get theerror message:
"KEYBOARD IS LOCKED OUT - UNLOCK THE KEY"
The compter then waits for me to press the F1 key to continue loading
Windows, and once Windows is loaded everything is fine. I know the keyboard
itself isn't faulty as I have tried two other keyboards and the same error
appears. I have tried switching from USB to PS2 and again the same error
appears.I have tried updating the BIOS on my motherboard (ASUS P4S533 Bios Ver 1011)
and that has not fixed the problem.

Every time I boot up I get a blue screen that says I have a a disk error, but I can cancel the test. If I let this run and let it start testing, It responds with "unspecified error" after a second or two. I have manually run the disc checking on all HDs. No errors found. Is this some kind of a joke, a virus, or distraction so some malware can load?

1) regedit.exe - The procedure entry point PrintDlgexw could not be located in the dynamic link library comdlg32.dll.
2) hpppt.exe - This application has falied to start because WNASPi32.dll was not found. re-install application may fix problem and last but not least
3) The procedure entry point PrintDlgexw could not be located in the dynamic link library comdlg32.dll
I do not know why these error started all of a sudden and do not know how to fix them. By clicking on OK for each error message I eventually get to my windows screen and can do everything, print. open documents, check outlook and go to the internet. I notices there more than 20+ informations in the security event log once I turn on the computer. Most of them is successful logon/logoff. What exactly is logging on and off?? Or what services is logging on and off??? The reason is I have another computer running XP Professional, and and the same setting as this one (only one user "Computer Administrator"), and the security event log in my XP Pro system is clean, no informations whatsoever. How can I find out who or what services is doing logon/logoff during system boot up. Basically I would like to eliminate those services and have a clean security event log

A few of our DNS servers are reporting Event ID 3000 periodically. Full logging is on. There are no failure entries prior to the event. I can not find much on TechNet either. I see that this is a problem for others in other forums, but I could not find a resolution on any site. Anyone have a cause and resolution? Details of the error entry:
Event Type:Warning
Event Source:DNS
Event Category:None
Event ID:3000
Date:3/13/2006
Time:6:21:05 AM
User:N/A
Computer:domain controller (changed name)
Description:
The DNS server has encountered numerous run-time events. To determine the initial cause of these run-time events, examine the DNS server event log entries that precede this event. To prevent the DNS server from filling the event log too quickly, subsequent events with Event IDs higher than 3000 will be suppressed until events are no longer being generated at a high rate.

Also I'm occasionally having an issue where my wireless adapter all of a sudden won't recieve any signals. There are several wireless networks in my area and all of a sudden it can't see any of them including my own.
