I am using Windows XP Pro,IntelP4,1gig DDR memory and 160gig HD. After returning from a 45day Vacation my system is doing odd things. It dosen't matter whether I use Outlook or Outlook Express, I can not open or go to any links in the body of the message. I get an error saying I do not have permission and should contact my administrator. I am signed on as the administrator.
I have XP and Use Outlook Express. I cannot open any links I am sent in emails. I get a blank screen when I try. I saw a similar question in this forum from tony 007 and went to the link he received as an answer from Tufnuf. I ran all the .dll suggestions and I still have the problem.
When I go into Add or Remove Programs when I select a program and select click here for product information and select the companys link it will not open. This happens in all program Support Info links. What could be the issue I am facing?
I started having this problem about 2 hours ago where when I go into my Outlook Express and into my "inbox and start reading my email. Upon reading email some would have a URL underlined and I would put cursor there which turns into a hand and I would click on the url but the browser wouldn't send me nowhere??? Now outside Outlook Express I can click on any url (say google or anything and my browser works just find. By the way, I am using Internet Explorer 6.0.
I am unable to open links and attached windows when I need to move to another part of a page or window. When I click on a section or link to open, the window pop ups but it is blank and there is no activity on the window to show that it is attempting to open; and it just sits there. Somtimes, the STOP and REFRESH button shows up on the top of the page and I can click "STOP", then "REFRESH" and this allows the page to open but alot of times these features are not available and I just have to close the window and am unable to gain access to the information or page I am attempting to see. I have enabled cookies, I do not have a pop-up blocker activated and no firewall so I cannot understand why certain windows open and certain ones won't. This problem occurs at random, there is no particular site or anything when this happens.
I have Internet Explorer and Outlook Express setup to open in a maximised window. However, any time I click on a link in either of these programs the corresponding window that opens is minimised. How can I have links to open in a maximised window?
I have half a dozen web sites I visit daily and keep open, web mail for instance. Is there a way to make a desktop icon or a batch file that will open multiple links? I tried a batch file with "open www.whatever.com" but it reuses the window for all addresses.
when i click on a link in a page or on my mail icon in windows live messenger, for example, instead of it opening up full screen it opens in a small window which i have to enlarge to full screen manually every time by clicking the maximize box. this didnt happen until i had to replace my hard drive recently.having windows xp home edition service pack 2.
XP Media Centre. When I click My Documents the folder list appears but will not open any when clicked. Also cannot open My Computer. Control Panel opens and list appears but cannot open some folders such as Add/Remove Programs. Also, I.E. will not start. However programs such as Word will start OK, and will open some files.
My ethernet input has recently been broken thanks to my Mrs, so I got an ethernet adapter which connects into the USB.Now I cant remember if I started to experience problems before or after the install...However I have experienced no end of problems recently... I cant download a file and then open it in any of the Office apps, as soon as I do, it tells me 'Notepad/Word' etc has encountered a problem and needs to close. On top of this, I cant run Firefox and if I try to click on links in my email within IE, the same thing happens.I have AVG and Malwarebytes and have ran them both and they havent picked up on anything.
When I receive an email in Outlook and it has jpeg's attached, I have to answer a warning msg each time I open the pic to view it.On my spouse's system (same as mine), she just clicks on it and it opens with no warning. How can I surpress the warning that asks "do you want to open this file?"It says the file type is "unknown" and that the publisher is "unknown".This is not a critical complaint, but I would like to find out the answer.
I can send and receive email without any problems, also photos and PowerPoint slide shows. But I receive some email that contains text which I can read but in the same email is a photo etc but where the photo is, there is a box with a red x in it which doesn't open.I am using XP home edition.
As an fyi ... I'm on Windows XP and email through MS Office Outlook. My computer was working fine until we suffered 2 power surges within minutes of each other today. The tv, stereo, phone & fax are fine. My computer powers on and the first error message appears: winlogon.exe - unable to locate component. This application has failed to start because sfc_os.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem. Next, I try to go into 1 of 3 email accounts. First error message here: Unable to open your default email folders.
I am trying to open a new email account at work using ms exchange server but I get an message about the server not being available? connection is offline or not connected to the server!
I was checking my daughters pc for some usual maintenance. The start programs on list suddenly dont open, computer freezes up, did the error-checking but I cannot seem to get some vital prgrams to open up. I am running a couple of recent worm tools from Symantec and so far, nothing. Could this be a hardware problem or can someone tell me something I am missing?
Windows XP totally up to date. I think. When I open Outlook Express {email} I keep getting messages that "Outlook Express has encountered a problem and needs to close".....and it does close when I click on send error report. At times when it does work for awhile, when I click to delete a email, that email won't show as deleted from inbox, but when I then go to the deleted folder it shows up there....checking back at the inbox the email is now gone from the inbox.
I just got a new computer with WinXPHome. All works OK except I can not receive my email into OE 6, all email stays with AT&T's Webmail, which I do not want to use. My old Win98 computer has no problems with getting my email. The settings on both computers are the same. I have disabled NAV email scanning. I have no idea what to do. I like OE, and want to continue using it.
From what I can tell, some sort of weird security messure is in place. Whenever I try to open any programs the computer simply does not respond. When I right click on links/programs I have the option "Run As".Clicking that brings the attached dialog up.If I unclick "protect my computer and data from unauthorized program activity" I can run the program.Someone please tell me how to turn this #### thing off!!
When I right click on a file and select "open with" there is a program on the list that I do not have anymore which is adobe acrobat reader 5.0. I have XP home.
When I start up my computer, everything's fine. afeter a while, when i go to open a prgogram, like Internet Explorer, an error message pops up. It says "Insuffecient System Resources Exist to comlete the requested service". Then i have to restart my computer to be able to run anything. When I go to shutdown my computer, and error message reading "MODSCONF.EXE - DLL INITIALIZATION FAILED" pops up. When i press "ok" another pops up reading "FXDXSSVC.EXE - DLL INITIALIZATION FAILED". Then, when i press ok on that one, the MODSCONF one pops up, and the whole thing repeats itself. So i have to hold the power button to shut it down.
I can't open any programs in do home. I can open Task Manager but no apps ever appear. I can run programs in safe mode. I have run safe mode. I ran chkdsk /r. Emptied the temp folder. Any suggestions on how to make my programs open again?
I've got xp sp2 and it's running just fine. The only problem is that it takes 5-10 seconds to open any program from a desktop shortcuts(AVG,Spyboot,Nero, Winamp). It is not a big deal but maybe somebody have some simple solution. This had been happening for the last couple of years and a few months ago I reinstalled Windows(clean install) but nothing changed.
I have a file with a non-windows extension (.LUP to be precise) which doesn't have an associated Windows-specific program. I have got a program called HexEdit (simple Hex and ASCII editor) which I didn't install (since it came from a colleague in a folder with just the .exe and files needed to run the program) and so Windows didn't populate the "Open With" programs menu with the program. When I try to add it (by Browsing for the .exe in the "Open With" menu) I click on the .exe, and click "OK" yet it doesn't get added to the list. I then tried to add the shortcut to the program to this list, but then I get the error message "[This program] is not a valid Win32 application". I've added the shortcut to the Programs folder in the Start Menu, yet still to no avail. So my 2 questions are: 1) How can I get rid of the shortcut which has now appeared in the "Open With" programs menu? and 2) Is there a way to get this .exe file to appear in this list (possibly by some Registry hack) without installing any 3rd-party programs (since IT at the company I work at gets really shirty about that sort of thing)?
After using Dr.Web Cleant it to clean up my xp laptop, it got worst. The laptop loads up but all that i see is the desktop background. No Start bar, not programs on desktop, shortcuts don't work .e. "windows"+R, "windows"+E) ONLY TASK MANAGER OPENS with CRTL+ALT+DEL.
